I love it Mojo. I started a small apple espalier this year too. For my bare root #2 whips, I cut the top third off per the nursery’s recommendation. Mine are on dwarf rootstock as well. Looks good.
Looking good, hopefully you will get 🍎. Right now training a burgundy Maple to straighten, the store cut the branches to short and are shooting straight up.

Question: why not use the tapener to tie down the branches on the new growth?
@@silveyfam I don't own a tapener. I use the rubber ties that used to be used in my vineyard.
