I can’t imagine not watching other artists on RUclips❗️. I get so much inspiration from them but I rarely exactly copy them. But it gives me ideas to put my own spin on.
Well, I have to admit that when you added the orange flourishes to the totem to the left I thought you may have mucked it up but I should have known that you would turn it into a masterpiece. One of the (many) reasons I watch you is that your art is different than what I usually watch (card making) and you challenge me to be creative and play. I love jewelry also, and If you tell me you love shoes, I think we could be good friends.
I could have written this post myself! I’m a card maker and also make 3D gift bags and boxes. Denise’s videos are challenging me to do some quite different cards to my usual clean and simple style, and to think much more creatively. I thought the orange stencilling ruined the left hand piece when she did it but it has turned out to be my favourite in the end.
You guys are the best!! I do love shoes. Mostly pretty clog type shoes, maybe with fur in them… Taos are some of my favorite. Sandals all summer. Thank you! 🥰
I love the way you are so fearless! These pieces turned out to be amazing! I am learning how to create what I like but I still need inspiration. When I want to try something out I, like others, hear you say "be brave!" 😂 Thank you for another really fun video!
Denise, I love your videos so much! I do have a free trial of Skillshare and your classes are the only ones I watch. But I'm not able to continue with a paid subscription so your RUclips videos are such a gift. I wouldn't call myself an artist - I can't draw or do anything very fancy. I have looked at other artist's RUclips channels a few times but don't follow them because I feel such a lack when I see them. Your videos give me more confidence and making abstracts seems so doable even for me. I still need lots of practice to even begin to get close to your talent but even my bad art days give me a feeling that yes, I can do this. I've even made a few Christmas cards and mailed them! I'm retired and have hearing loss, so your videos and classes have brightened up my life incredibly. (And thank goodness for closed captioning!) Huge kudos for your generosity in sharing your art - it's an ongoing Christmas gift for me. I wish you the merriest of holidays and please give your sweet little doggos Christmas pats for me. Hugs!
Thank you so much Denise, I really really enjoyed watching you create those gorgeous pieces. I really really love ❤❤❤❤❤ all of them, but my favourite is the first one. Because it’s so vibrant and beautiful too. Hope you had a good Christmas 🎄. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤
I love watching Jonna and Cecelia too! I get so inspired by watching videos like theirs. I think you’re right about not paying too much attention to what other artists are creating. Your totems turned out lovely, those watercolour paints dry beautifully 💫
They make living in the middle of no where surrounded by cold and snow and darkness seem beautiful and fun. I don’t think I’d be so positive about it 😂… Thank you! 🥰
Your enthusiasm and encouragement are so helpful. I am 81 and began to create art three years ago. What a joke! I continue to throw away and toss things, but i took your advice and tried to Fix them : ) The pile of practice painting is gettung tall. I use the reverse to Play .
To borrow your phrase *super* *fun!* -- always a pleasure & inspiration to see what you're up to Denise. Just bought myself the gift of a Skillshare membership, mostly for your classes -- & there's lots of them! :) ❤P.S. 70 is cold for you?? That's about as warm as I want it any time of year (I live in WA state :) I know what you mean though -- when I lived in FL you could always tell the tourists b/c they would be in shorts while those of us who lived there would be bundled up & freezing.
I made my first totems last week. I selected card number 001 and watercolors as the base. When I got done with them I thought not that great. Then I removed the tape, and they started to look better. My next step was all the doodling- and gold, and then I was pretty happy with them. I even use them to make two card fronts. Thank you for all your inspiration.
I had to laugh about snow in the south. We lived in Savannah when I was a child and I remember getting about 1/2” of snow in the late 70s and the entire town ground to a halt (school cancelled) because no one knew what to do! Now I live in the mountains in Colorado and it takes FEET of snow to slow people down. LOL. And I like the blue purple totem! Thanks, as always for your cheerful videos. 🤗
This was so much fun! And a joy to watch. Your voice was calming and I loved listening to you. These came out so lovely and sparked my imagination in a wonderful way. I was gifted with the Gansai Tambi Art Noveau set of WC paints and they are beautiful and gave me amazing results. I can't wait to try them in something like this. I love playing with my paints in new an interesting ways. Thank you for this lovely inspiration! Bless xo

Beautiful, as usual, Denise! Fun to hear that you watch some of the same RUclipsrs as I do! So many interesting people living lives so different to our own out there. I grew up in the tropics and I now live in Canada where it can get pretty cold, so yes, you can acclimatize to anything! (The right clothing, boots, hats and mitts really helps!) It's been many years that I've been living in the cold now, but I have to say that I really enjoy a really beautiful winter day.
Love those and I totally relate to your feelings about watching other art. When I was in grade school and we had an art project, I would look at mine and then at the person next to me and then back at mine and feel really bad. I allowed my self imposed self image to totally cripple me artistically because I knew I wasn’t any good. It’s been in the last 10 years since my husband died that I began art journaling as a way of working through my grief. I may not be great but I’m not bad and I love the play! I have a Yorkie too!😊
I can relate to the cold weather fascination thing. I’m in GA and I love cold weather ( lived in Maine and loved it) but unique places like that are interesting to me. Also tropical places like beach too. Love that bright paint color!
I love the middle seasons.. not too hot.. not too cold... and the cold seems colder the older we get! brrrr... but I'm totally fascinated with those Nordic countries. 😂 Thank you! 🥰
So gorgeous!!! All so different and equally beautiful. Thanks for sharing. These paints look awesome! Unfortunately I live in Australia and Masha doesn't mail to Australia. Sad but how it is. That happens a lot here. Not that I need any more anything!!! xoxo
I do watch other artists and sometimes fuse two techniques (coincidently, Jonna Jinton inspired ice painting using YOUR techniques)! Entirely different kinds of art > Kylie Flavell (more interior design, food, cinematography) and Liziqi...such beauty. And for zany fun, Northern Mudlarks. None of these do what you do but they amazing in their own right and inspire me when I sit down to try your techniques.
I have been watching a lot of art hauls lately. Everyone is posting their favorites, and end of the year finds. One video came up in my feed, and I went down that rabbit hole 😂
These are awesome Denise!! I learned a few things about you today that I resemble, I have A Yorkie and I have more jewelry than any 5 people need since losing my mother in June.
I love that. Yorkies are the best. Such big personalities. I am usually wearing at least 1 piece of my mother’s jewelry. The bracelet I wear was hers and one of my very favorite pieces. 🤗🤗🤗
I absolutely love love, your channel. I have been so inspired and learned so much from you. Thanks! Just a couple sugestions; Why don't you turn your paper, so you don't get your hand in the paint? You are rt. handed, you could put all your "stuff" on that side and not cause a "mistake" by crossing over the piece you are working on. Keep on no matter what so that we can all get fearlessly creative ❤❤
This has been very helpful. I’m trying to learn more about my supplies and this showed me how. I did follow most of the links to the supplies your list, but I didn’t find the Masha watercolors like you have. Is there a link to the kind you have, or did she change her products? In either case, could you post the most similar product that’s still available?
well...found a neocolor crayon sharpener, used heat tool to melt neo 1 shavings, smeared semi circles (w/now tinted fingertips) to merge with the gold ink that did not work at all with a glass dip pen...mental heart punch...Mozart watercolors rock...who knew a hot mess ( literally) would be so fun? Those remind me of vintage wallpaper. Thanks, Denise.

I also watch Cecelia and Jonna and fantasize about living on Svalbard. You can actually camp in a naturally-occurring hollow in a glacier on Svalbard.
Cool! There was an episode Cecilia did exploring a glacier cave that was cool! Don’t think I’d be camping outside 😂
Honestly, I liked it best with all three on one page…! When you went to cut it, I was like: noooooo!

Denise what is the texture of the Stabilo pencils. I’ve not ever used those. Is it like a crayon? 🎨🖌️
Yeah, kinda like a fine tip crayon. Similar to the neocolor 2 pastels. 😊

Got it in one of the art subscription boxes and showed it in an art haul recently. Not sure where they would be sold. 😊
Oh I missed that part. I’ll keep my eye out for it then. It looks extremely useful. I found it on Amazon in case anyone else wants one.
