@@CyberattackWorldwhen the piano eighth note chords came in I laughed out loud during my run. Between this and the takes where you trip over words but keep going, and the brilliant ideas for using pedals to get unusual but musical sounds - This channel is such a treasure
Thanks. FWIW I use pro-tip #1 in this video a lot when I'm recording stuff. Even if you don't go for full-on broken distortion, settings very similar to those shown in #1 can help focus the tone in a way that sits very distinctly in a mix. So for that alone I'm glad I have this pedal.
That random stepped wah sounded great. The real tip here was the side step. For a less advanced question - how easy is it to dial in a cocked wah sound with this to get into Khruangbin territory?
Extremely easy. The only reason I didn't cover that is because of how easy it is-you can do it within 5 seconds of turning the pedal on. And the fact that you have Q and frequency controls means that you can design your own wah in the first place, and then cock it however you want.
@@CyberattackWorld Thanks! I love watching your videos for the weird and out there use cases - a great way to learn a lot about the pedal and get inspired to do things I'd never have thought of.
Yes! I bought a long life a while ago and then have just ordered a side-step without even having seen your video. You have just confirmed that it was a good idea! Can’t wait to put them together. Have you tried using the cv controls?
Where do you prefer to place the Long Life? After the guitar? After the distortions and before the amp? or at the end of the chain? I find this eq more interesting at the beginning of the chain, I think
For the brokenish sound in the first pro-tip, it really needs to go after your amp somehow-the easiest way would be to stick it in an FX loop if your amp has one, otherwise your could settle for putting it after your dirt pedals. It can also create very notched, specific distortion sounds this way like Queens of the Stone Age would use. For the 2nd pro-tip, it should go before your dirt pedals or into an already driven amp. For everything else I would say experiment. It’s a really versatile pedal and I’ve come to love it more and more.
It's been Awhile.. but your videos are still sonic gems washed out in the sick light of this modern era. Ps I have a Long Life and it is great--looking forward to the side-step. Thanks for your ideas/music/80s vibes
I have just bought this eq and I can not achieve a single sound you have made,(following settings precisely) wondering if there is something wrong with my pedal!
For sound number one, make sure the Long Life is in your amp’s FX loop-or if you’re using an amp modeler like the Iridium, put the Long Life after the modeler. A crucial part of this sound is forcing the Long Life to mangle your whole signal, not just your guitar. For sound number 2, make sure the amp tone you’re starting with is already on the verge of breaking up. If your sound is too clean the Long Life won’t be able to push it over the edge. For the other sounds, try adjusting the position of the Freq knob above and below how I have it in my diagrams (this goes for sounds 1 and 2 as well). The Freq knob is highly reactive to the specific character of your rig, and so you may need to search a little to find the spot where it starts to do the thing I get it to do in the video, since you and me are starting from different rigs anyway. Try all that and hopefully it will start to sound closer.

Best RUclips channel
That first sound reminds me of converting wav files to 8-bit, but better. Great video!
thanks and i agree that's what it sounds like
You have just confirmed that my decision to buy a side step after already buying the long life was a really good idea!
Awesome video again. Love the tones you get. The beep song is amazing. Something familiar in a unique way.
That ramp effect is stellar! I have to steal that idea some time!
Awesome "My Sharona" cover!
Thanks, that part took a stupidly long amount of time because playing the melody like that is actually really hard. So I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Amazing stuff, thanks for the video
Man, I thought this was just another random internet dude explaining pedals - which maybe it is - but your visuals are amazing. Enjoyed it. Thanks.
Best video on YT.
This is very nice.
I like the part where you make my motor run, my motor run.
it's all for you haze
i gotta get a sidestep
it opens up a lot of potential
You’re my new favourite YT channel. Love what you do, man! I think you just sold me on the long life! 👌🤘🙏

That Cirice riff already sounds awesome and unsettling so that's probably the right effect XD
that riff is pure evil

I did try messing around with the CV stuff, but nothing I got was as cool as what ended up going in the video. Congrats on the Side Step.
@@CyberattackWorld Some cool sounds indeed!
Best be careful, this video has the death sentence on 12 systems. Nice one Ian.
nailed it
this is the best pedal review for any pedal ever.

it looks awesome but i don't have one
did not expect to hear cirice or really any ghost song on here. sounded good as hell though
i love that song so much

these videos are just increasingly bizarre ways to use guitar pedals, without guitars, to play classic rock hits for dancing toys
That's just Influencer Reductionist talk.
Your music reminds me of an artist named ‘Brad Sucks’. You might like his, as far as I know of, 2 albums: I don’t know what I’m doing and Out of it.
Are you using a short scale neck on your strat?
no, it’s regular strat length
