@@CyberattackWorld you're welcome. we're getting there, everything is more advanced than it used to be apart from the fact that a lot of people still use tube amps
Your guitar playing is out of this world and the sounds you make are the best. The lead around 5.40, wow! Is there anyway you can share some of those riffs!,,😮😊
thanks for the comment. all the lead playing there was improvised but everything I was doing was either: -messing around in the C minor pentatonic scales, occasionally adding in the note D natural -arpeggiating whatever chord the chord progression was currently on. The progression is C minor, Eb major7, Ab major add9, G dominant 7 (it's "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley). But at one point I use a G#diminished7 arpeggio over to the G7 chord for extra tension. Sorry that I'm not giving you the specific riffs. But the above covers everything I was thinking and playing the entire time.
@@CyberattackWorldthat’s amazing. Thnx. I’ve been playing for many years, yet I don’t solo following the chords. I reallyz need to slow down to learn this way as it sounds so much better than noodling. You demonstrated how it’s possible to play with chords and also play fast. Thnx🎉
Fabulous video! I’ve just bought the MOOD mk2 so needless to say I’m twirling and spiralling all over the place in wild exploration but I also really needed some pointers on how to make it more musical. Many thanks
So beautiful, so fun, so creative. I’m n2 it. Been wanting to get a mood forever but this kinda just humbles me and it’s enjoyable to sit back and let you take us on a journey.
I am using the Beautiful Explosions setting with a traditional expression pedal (Moog ep-3). I like to put the trails on and use it in Envelope mode with the Drolo side at noon. It is great to record a microloop with the Expression pedal manually sweeping in the middle (around 24k). So the microloop is being recorded while the clock is shifting! The sample will get this timed break-up in that range. And will do the Envelope glitchy repeat thing when you start playing. Probably my favorite effect so far. Also cool to add some Fuzz. Really great video! Thanks for sharing these!
thanks for the comment. i tend to view the Drolo side as more of a performance tool than an actual effect, so i've always had a hard time coming up with consistent settings for that side that would make for pro-tips. but maybe it's my own limitation
Excellent demo, very clear and understandable settings, beautiful examples. Thanks for creating this . . . oh no, yet another pedal I may have to get, this is becoming an expensive (but very fun) addiction.
You may have convinced me to keep this one. Hadn't been vibing with the microlooping & coarse granulation flavors... but then again I clearly haven't been 'pro' with this one. :)
The thing I've learned most from these videos is that I need a Side-Step. Also cool 12-string/burning of the midnight lamp tone :) sounds like 2 octaves maybe?
Great stuff man! Awesome sounds and i love that Side Step pedal! I'm gonna have to grab one. I've noticed that your "bitcrusher" sound really works nice in the reverb setting too. Exact same knob positions and everything.
Man I absolutely adore your content and that bit crusher sound. I just got a Mk2 and dialed in your exact settings. The notes are so delayed that I can’t keep any sort of time. It looks like when you play a note it immediately plays. Any advice?
No the timing is definitely weird for that sound. You can try adjusting the modify knob but it's never going to be instant. I love that sound too but it's hard to use for this reason.
Can someone explain to me why using the Bounce feature on the mood's dipswitches and the Clock dipswitch combined, wouldn't be identical to having an external expression ramper? I don't get why he can't just have the pedal Bounce the Clock knob? I haven't really played with this pedal maybe I'm missing something.
I think you can do it that way. I was already in the midst of messing around with the external exp ramper when I discovered this sound, so I just hit record and stuck with it, but I do think you could do the same thing or get very close by using the pedals built in dip switches
Hmmmm try looking at the following: -Confirm that none of the dip switches are happening -Confirm you're not using the right side of the pedal at all -Try tweaking the Time and Modify knobs slightly above and below wherever I said they should be. Those can make a dramatic difference even across a tiny range. -You can also just try playing a little faster or a little slower, like whatever the music is. Sometimes things click into place if you can drift into whatever "tempo" the pedal is using to sample your playing. Hope that helps.
Lord, it seems the backwards mode needs to be experienced to be understood! Sounds heaps like what Jeff Beck does with his nuanced whammy bar technique. And those dip switches do look terrifying! Man, the last PRO-TIP needs to be turned into a song! I've never heard anything like that. The Side Step is so powerful, heh?! It's probably the best invesment you could make, as unleashes so much more out of existing pedals. I'll grab one next time they do a production run. How are you syncing the Side Step? By manual foot tapping? I reckon you'd also enjoy CV controlling some of these types of pedals too. Like maybe with a KORG SQ-1. And then using a SmartClock to integrate drum machines, loopers, etc! Geez, we live in an amazing technological age. It's the future we always dreamt of!
Hey thanks for the comment. To answer your question about syncing the Side Step, the answer is just by ear/turning the rate knob super carefully. And I agree it's the future we always dreamed of. As for turning #5 into its song, it actually is already: ruclips.net/video/RCVRMUIH4l8/видео.html Thanks for checking out my vids.
I love this question. The answer is not super high-tech. For my voice, I'm using an SM-58 and recording into a Focusrite Scarlett 212. Believe it or not, I'm recording into GarageBand for that and just using their "Narration Vocal" preset. OK then for the guitar stuff, I'm using the Strymon Iridium instead of an actual amplifier, so that I don't have to mic anything. This is true across all the How to Be Advanced vids. Maybe I should do a separate video that's just about my signal flow? I've learned some tricks for making the best of a fairly low-tech setup. Anyway thanks, I'm glad you think it sounds good.

Sometimes I just listen to the solo from Unique Bitcrusher, man. That shit hurts. Very frothy. And greasy. But in the good way. Sometimes greasy can be bad like when someone does something devious or exhibits behavior with severe underlying disrespect. This is not one of those times i.e. nasty, disgusting, monstrous, sick - guitar playing. Also, I think you should record Unique Bitcrusher as an official Cyberattack track. A kind of interlude thing like Big Sur Moon or Cathedral or even a miniature Maggot Brain, honestly. The vibe that starts to come out halfway thru is very Maggot Brainy. All this is to say, what song was that sample track based on? 😉
Man thank you for all of this. I've always wanted to do something with the unique bitcrusher sound, like turn it into a real song, but so far it's been difficult to match the tempo to any BPM I can grab on to. If I can find a way to do that, or summon the strength to abandon BPM, I'll definitely put it on an album. The chord progression itself is "Crazy," by Gnarls Barkley, so I would also need to rewrite that stuff. As for the filters during my talking parts, those were a lot of extra work, and I only did them to make up for the fact that back then I was filming everything with a bad camera.
