I was genuinely blown away by Hemsworth's performance in this movie. I'd seen him in a few other films and was never really that impressed with his acting, but he absolutely NAILED this role. I wouldn't expect him to win an Academy Award for Dementus considering some of the other movies that came out this year, but he should at least be nominated for one.
This was a wonderful movie - I saw it twice in the theater and once streaming. Chris Hemsworth did a fantastic job - so frequently in his performance I though "I know somebody that does that exact thing" or certainly seems to want to. Punishing people for happiness they can't have themselves. And I certainly identify with the feeling of hope being a futile weakness.
I saw this movie in theaters 5 times throughout the summer. 3 times by my self while I was in combat school. And twice while I was at home on Leave. I don’t care what anyone says, to me this will always be Chris Hemsworth’s best performance of his career. It breaks my heart that he won’t get an Oscar for this role. To me this performance was on the same level as Heath Ledger’s Joker. After taking a break from Thor, Chris showed me that he was capable of so much more and the first time I stepped out of the theater, I was in awe!!!
The makeup on Chris Hemsworth was done so well combined with his acting skills I didn’t even recognize him and only after I watched the movie I was genuinely surprised to find out it was him after googling the cast

I don't know why everybody are hating on this Movie. I think it's Great and better than the most Movies we had the last Years. Hope George give us one or two another Movies in the Mad Max Setting.
Miller already announced he's done directing Mad Max movies. He said he'd like to produce the next one and teased a possible Mad Max novel as well, which honestly has me more excited than another movie. Could REALLY delve into Max's psyche.
Having Hemsworth pitching and hissing his voice made this character even more unique, rather than another Hemsworth's show. Was great to see him act as a villian for once. His character was into displaying cruel executions, but it didn't expose his mighty and unhumane nature. Dementos seemed still "humane/likable" even despite the cruel executions.
I know right?! Furiosa is a cinematic masterpiece and deserved to do much better at the box office While Deadpool & Wolverine was entertaining but cheap in terms of story, effort and cinematography
@@T3H8 Also in the first scene we see him, where he is in white, meeting Furiosa for the first time, he has huge pupils, compared to the others. While in other scenes he does not. Side note - In Fury Road, when Nux is telling the story about Larry and Barry his pupils are huge compared to Capable, while they are in the same light setup. I think these details go to show that the chrome paint does indeed contain some kind of drug in it. Immortan sprayed Nux, before Rictus threw him on the War Rig..
Looked too tough to be shrooms - he really has to bite into it. I assumed it was jerky made out of human meat. He has cannibalistic tendencies - he eats blood pudding made from Furiosa's blood and human blood sausage. The dilated pupil was a reference to Max, who also had a damaged eye with large pupil in Beyond Thunderdome. I read that it was to suggest that Max could have become a leader like Dementus when HIS family were killed, but chose a different path.
Dementus is maybe my favorite Miller villain because he’s basically a Mad Max who decided to be evil in the Wasteland rather than reluctantly decent. Tormented by the death of his children, check. Has the fighting and driving skills to rise to the top of the horde, check. Determined to survive no matter what, check. Except the Wasteland broke Dementus unlike Max who retained some spark of humanity
Man, that is a fantastic comment. They have so much in common. I still remember some talks in the past about concepts of MM1-MM2 where Goose was meant to become Lord Humungus after surviving burns. That would have lead to a much more emotional conflict once they face as foes.
Please WB, let George finish the trilogy. Hemsworth was great as Demetus as was Anya as Furiosa. Loved how much life Furiosa brought to the world of The Wasteland.

I know Dementus is a villain and this may be a stretch, but I like him better then Immortan Joe. Immortan Joe is scary, don't get me wrong he's a great bad guy in his own right. Dementus on the other had, has such charisma and is so likeable in how wicked he is. Plus, the voice, I just can't, I love Dementus. Watching the movie, especially the ending, it felt like Dementus was lecturing me, that's power man, that got me in the feels.
While Furiosa wasnt the best of the Mad Max movies, imo, iy was still better than Thunderdome and the fate of Dementus stuck with me for a week after watching the movie
Miller was too old to give as much to this movie as Fury Road, which had some ridiculously dangerous stunts. Thus a LOT more greenscreen and CGI. Honestly, we're lucky we got another movie at all.
