    I’m definitely going to pre ordering that 12” cause I’ve wanted one for the longest time, and always wanted to find and attach a separate Starsense dock on my 8” dob.

    I mounted a Star sense mirror device from an 80mm refractor to my Meade 12" Lightbridge. Makes a nice go to now!!! Just registered the app code it came with and off I go!!!

    I order to buy the 12" StarSense, I need to know how long the OTA is in order to see if I can fit into my car, either across the back seat or in my hatchback. I Celestron website pic shows 61" tall, but that seems to be from the ground up. When you get a chance, pls note the OTA length. Thanks.

    Well. Guess I’ll be pre ordering a 12” dob for once. And I was literally about to purchase another ED refractor. I really was hoping they’d expand this line

    I bought the 8 inch back in February and I love it but recently I haven’t been able to use it because if it’s not cloudy then the smoke from the wildfires is making it hard to see anything

    I have the 8" and I love it, but now that there is a 12" I might have to trade up

    Does the 8 inch have a metal or plastic focuser ?

      its metal. only complaints I have about the 8in is the fact that collamination is done with 3 seperate alan wrenches. the 10 inch has thumbscrews

    $550 is bloody expensive for a 150 tabletop dob. Starsense is nice, but you can get virtuoso 150p for less and that has go to. orion starblast is less. a full size 6" is like $100 less. and now that astrohopper is available... yeah it's not as pretty, but come on. And the 12", I think I'd take an apertura with astrohopper, unless i'm missing something here.

      Hi! Thanks for commenting! According to Celestron they are shipping in limited quantities at the end of July, and more will be available around September. You can pre-order this on our website and that locks your place in line for when they begin shipping! Feel free to email us on our website should you have any questions about the product itself.
      Clear Skies!

    i bought a 130mm version with eq mount 5 years ago for $179. why the heck is the 130mm version now $450 ? it literally only has a cell phone mount and an app different from what i bought, and doesn't have the eq mount. $450 for a 130mm non goto is ridiculous.

    • @GalacticConquerer
      @GalacticConquerer Год назад +1

      Starsense Explorer has never been available on an EQ mount, you are mistaken about what you bought previously.

      @johnnyd8024 Год назад +1

      450 for a 130mm that uses your cellphone to get you to so many targets in seconds using no batteries whatsoever to power up anything is well worth it.

      @@GalacticConquerer i had a 130mm celestron. starsence is just the desktop mount with a phone holder to show you what is in the sky. there are several apps that do that, some free. this 130mm scope is no different than the older tubes, just on a different ( cheaper ) mount with the phone holder and app. it adds maybe $50, not $250. this is why beginner astronomers are not getting involved as often, ridiculous high prices for pretty basic setups.

    There's nothing simple about a table top you try fiinding suitable tables when your out and about
