Quite the title you have there Jeff. I’m a Chevy/GMC guy and I have 2 questions for you. 1- why do you make ½ ton trucks so dam high? I’m 6’ tall and can barley reach over and touch the floor of the bed. 2- Why the square wheel wells? The wheels are round (I checked). Early in life we learn to put the round peg in the round hole. I could never own a foreign truck but take a close look at the Tundra. Best looking truck on the road. Take a close look at the wheel wells. See how that works? I guess if my 99 silverado ever dies I’ll need a step ladder and some square wheels
Mine never did that. I ran AMSOIL and changed the oil every 20k after its break in on my 2007 Yukon XL Denali. It started burning a little bit after 100k, but only about a quart every 10k miles which wasn't bad. Always had a little valve train noise since it was new though. But I can tell you that my father's new CTS V burns WAY more oil than my Denali did. He goes through a quart every 2k on that thing and it only has 10,000 miles!
I just checked the website of a GMC dealer where I live....New Brunswick Canada. Here are the listed prices off the website for a Sierra 2500. 2500 SLT Crew Cab 6.0V8....$67,205. Sierra 2500 Regular Cab WT 6.0V8....$45,525. Sierra 2500 Denali 6.6 Duramax...$84,400! Holy crap, the prices of these trucks nowadays, and not just GM products but also the other manufacturers! Even just a regular cab, gas engine 6.0 V8, WT model will cost you nearly $50,000 by the time taxes are on it.
Yea its pretty dang high, I love how the 2015 GMC Sierra drives and looks but the one I wanted was approximately $47k(before any tax/fees), it's not that I cannot afford it but I found a Ram 1500 Sport, very similar set-up for considerably less. Not bashing GM or praising Chrysler (I worked at a GM dealership up B.C.). Just a good deal is a good deal.
Displacement doesn't matter man. A properly built motor can have as much horsepower as the internals can take. That same 6.2L powers the Corvettes and CTS-V.s putting out over 630hp on the Corvette. My old 350 in my 72 Chevy (5.7L) was cranking around 500 ponies easy. Just a cheaper decision on GM's part to keep the same motor and use it for different platforms.
I believe you showed the wrong instrument cluster the first time. It shows six fixed, analog dials but then later the top four are digital. Also I'm looking forward to the EcoDiesel review!
Can’t get a quad cab Denali 1500 spec’d out to tow more than the mid 9k range. I’ve looked a few times. No options for the maximum trailering package that you can get on the LTZ trim level.
I am very excited for the 5.0 Cummins V8 Titan in 2015!! I just hope that nissan does to the titan what they did to their cars and makes it look better! it doesn't look bad, but its old!
Hello again guys, if you have reason mate Fran Columbo, exibe the model in this video is the 2014 GMC Sierra Denali since 2015 still does not come out to the market or to exibition at the official website gmc.com will be able to find the information that I expose here. Keep up the good work, I am a faithful fan of your channel.
Ah, naked intake runners are in-vogue once more. I'm waiting on an inbound Iridium-colored version of one of these due from the railhead by Tuesday 7-22-14.
Ummm yeah. You can have a 454 big block and you can also have a 455 small block. It has to do with the design on the cylinders and their spacing within the block itself. Has very little to do with actual displacement
They still don't have reclining seats in the back which is important to families who use it as their main traveling vehicle. Dodge has and Toyota as well.
The rear vents come through holes in the back of the front seats, looks kind of stupid to be honest. They are in all Silverados and Sierras, I believe.
I will say one good thing about this guy and that is that he is talking about real world driving rather than the gimmicks to get the truck to read the best fuel mileage for the books. You end up with the wrong set up. The truck should be geared and computerized to adjust to your style to save you fuel dependant on your driving style and what your hauling. Looking at the best number on paper and buying a truck based on that is stupidity. However, if you brought back Quadra steer I could care less about fuel mileage, stick whatever you want under the hood and I will still buy it. You had a true luxury item for a truck in 2002 to 2004 that is still talked about, Quadra steer even had their own forum, nothing has come close since then to matching this option. An appearance/convenience package costs more than this option and it was actually a true luxury to have. Convenience to park, to back up and to follow and direct a trailer like you were pushing it with the front of the truck so you never lose your trailer when backing it up. Stability control is no match for 4-wheel steering, stability control breaks the front wheels to straighten the vehicle out in a skid, 4-wheel steer does it without having to break, 4-wheel steer has ultimate control at highway speeds on a slippery road or not. Best thing is when I park I pull right in with 4-wheel into my spot, 9/10 times other truck owners always have to back up and straighten out, then for them, backing out is even a bigger headache.
Too bad the idiots at GMC dropped Quadrasteer. It was one of the smartest innovations by GMC, ever. The turning diameter on my 2003 Sierra Denali is a full 10 feet less than any other pickup in it's class. Had the marketing idiots shown how maneuverable trucks could be in tight spaces like parking garages or parallel parking, and how the Quadrasteer virtually eliminated body roll in turns, more customers may have bought into it. The had a full size PU truck that literally handles like a sports car. Instead, the marketing geniuses ran countless commercials of someone doing figure eights in reverse with a boat trailer while the livestock watched in awe.... yeah.... I bet countless customers were about as awestruck as the cattle in the commercial. I guess I'll have to hang onto my '03 Sierra Denali Quadrasteer AWD. Maybe someday someone at GMC will realize their marketing blunder and bring back QS.
jdelasko Yes, because advertising the virtue of a pickup when towing is poor marketing lol. The reality is that is was a very expensive option and had few takers over the years it was offered. If this idea had wheels it would've been duplicated years ago by somebody else. It was a complex system and not necessary. They tried and it failed. Most people would argue that GM were idiots to try it in the first place and not the opposite.
jdelasko I agree that it was a heck of an innovation, making the truck highly maneuverable. However, it was also a $4000 option, which no one wanted to pay for. Back then, what was the sticker price on a Denali? Maybe $35k? Plus, people were concerned about what happened when it broke. GM eventually cut the price in half, but there were still very few takers. I think they only sold about 2000 of them. Now, if they brought it back today, when luxury trucks are selling for record rip-off prices, it might actually sell. After all, people are paying a $5k premium for a 2015 Sierra Denali over a comparably equipped (loaded) SLT. $55k vs $60k MSRP, and the only REAL difference is the magnetic ride suspension. I have driven both, and for a truck, I'm not sure it is necessary. But, it is a different day and age than it was in 2003 when a pickup was viewed as a jobsite necessity, and not a daily driver.
Are the lifters going to seamlessly tap on this AFM motor too?! Or is this motor going to "seamlessly" consume a quart of oil ever 1,000 miles only to have GM tell us it's "acceptable" valvetrain noise and "acceptable" oil consumption?!
I'm sure ford will beat those number's come their 2014 model. And Chrysler just play's with itself and makes no real effort to out-do the other two. However I do think ram's look the best at least and their new 8-speed's make up for a lot
That is totally untrue, BMW has twin turbocharged V6 that not only puts out "big block" power with half the weight. Power to weight rato is what rules.
I love GM trucks, they are so robust, long-lasting and well-built, but please GM get it together with your headlights, stop cheaping out on these 50k 60k or even 70k trucks with those horribly out-dated halogen burners....borrow some HID projectors from the Cadillacs that are amazing performers! Specially for the off-road trucks! they desperately need more powerful, farther reaching and wider beam headlights!
Nice new late model GMC, so 1990's. This is 2013, we need a six cylinder diesel option, higher power, torque and better mileage. We need an all digital dashboard, not just a small piece of it. We need an electric lock for the tailgate that works along with the central locking system. We need express up and down on ALL windows. Keep up the ancient GMC mentality and you'll remain behind Ford and Dodge Ram. What a waste of bailout money!!
So you think he shouldn't be chief engineer because he isn't eloquent? Then at what point is being a good speaker necessary for engineering? Most professionals aren't good speakers unless they're marketing guys, this isn't an engineer's cup of tea usually.
They also ruined the Denali line back in 2007 when they got super cheap and took away the unique front clip. Now you can get a Denali with a 5.3L Explain to me what the point of spending all that money on a Denali when you can piece meal a SLT to be the same?
Prominent Badging? Really, He's the chief engineer and he is talking about badging? He says they are watching the competition closely, yea me too...Hey I'm a chevy guy, but c'mon GM, stop chasing Ford and break some new ground!
hey ford and ram has a 5.4 triton and a 5.7 hemi. chevy had to go clear up to 6.2L to get 420 horses when in 2005 i think dodge had a 500 horse 5.7 in the rumble bee. i dont see why ram hasnt programed the computer to push out 450 horses yet. Im really eager to see what dodge and fords reaction to this is.
Im sorry but towing 12k with a half ton is asking for trouble, they're too light, no engine break. GM is bloating those tow numbers just for marketing puposes. Anything over 9-10k top is dangerous and stupid.
If you want to drink the koolaid go ahead. As a 2011 F150 owner, the GMC wins hands down after driving it. Way quieter and nicer ride. Tech is about the same, but sync sucks compared to intellilink. Ford dressed up a little nicer inside, but the guts are what count. Ford owner no more!
Don't give a shit, I was born with a set of ford keys and will die with them.ford always sets the standard, and waits for everyone else to play ketchup , sounds to me like you're drinking the koolaid
Well that's just you. you got lucky. We ex-ford owners were found on the road dead. Before my friend got fired from ford , he used to get brand new '09-'11 cars/trucks with not even 400 miles on them for engine failure / transmission problems.... Not saying any GM/chrysler can do the same but you're more likely to find that in a Ford than in a GM / Chrysler.
I personally have never owned a truck, but my father has a construction company. The pickup he ever owned was 2001 F250 and he took care of it and it never failed on him. A little over a year ago he traded it in for a 2012 Yukon Denali and it was way better than the ford, but obviously not a pickup. He recently traded in that Yukon for the 2014 Sierra 1500 Denali with the 6.2 V8. This truck is the best I have ever driven, most comfortable, most power, and overall best. Only time will tell how durable it will be, but all trucks now will last as long and you keep up the maintenance. Josh427SS Jason Jacobs
I have a denali 6.2l and I have owned an f-150 eco boost. I can tell you, gm did not engineer the 6.2 to be a rival with the eco boost in ford. Yes the towing torque and hp is comparable, but the fuel economy is no where near what this guy is suggesting. The fuel economy on the ford eco boost is aprx. 22-24 mph highways and the 6.2 is probably about 13-15 mpg highways. I’ve owned them both... Just saying.
GM really botched their 2014 trucks. All they have on lots are those stupid 5' beds. Who really wants a 5' bed? Go buy a Ridgeline if you do. 2nd of all you can't mix the All Terrain and the Max Trailer package... Why? Because no one EVER tow OR goes offroading with the same truck... I hope the 2015 lets you combine more options!
This is a nice truck, but has it's flaws. I got to drive a 2015 Sierra Denali 6.2L crew cab 4wd for a day, and versus the outgoing truck, this is a highly refined truck. However, if you are a big guy with broad shoulders, the interior of this truck is several inches narrower than a 2013 model extended cab. There is a GIANT door pillar that is about 6 inches wide that bites into your shoulder if you have the front seats back any more than about 2/3 of the way. It is a phenomenally DUMB design. If the door pillars were necessary, why didn't they move them back about 3 inches? Problem solved. Or they could narrow up the MASSIVE center console, which is a giant waste of interior space. For all GM did right in this truck, they really screwed up with the location and size of the door pillar.
The moving video shots in this video made me nauseous. I would like to see a review done by someone who is not associated with the manufacturer. They like to toot their own horn (no pun intended) and this guy was so boring, i was about to fall asleep at the end. No shit!
Jam Bro Yeah he was pretty boring, I stopped watching halfway through b/c of it. I don't mind looking at the manufacturer promote their vehicle, but if the "Chief Engineer" is going to talk about the car, don't say stuff a salesperson can say: Give me engineering stuff!
Jeff Luke, sorry but for a Chief Executive Engineer of a major corporation your delivery is very poor. You don't sound very confident about your product, and you use too many non English words such as "umm" "uuhh" as if you cannot or don't even agree with the product you are putting out. Jeff luke should stick to "engineering" not promotions. This alone would not want me to buy this vehicle.
The guy is an engineer. He designs the engine, he's not in PR, Marketing or even the face of the company as a CEO, CFO or COO. I'd never care if an engineer was good at public speaking. They need their math, physics and other sciences to be top notch.
Chasey Chaseykins My point exactly Jeff Luke being an engineer should never be given the spotlight to promote a vehicle in a marketing promotion, thus my point he should not be speaking, it should be someone in the advertising dept. period. GM should leave Jeff behind the scenes creating automobiles - not promotional material.
Jeff Luke: Why does GM follow the rest of the crowd ? Gm was the last to make a 4 door 1/2 ton pickup, gm does not make a floor shifter in there trucks as does Ford and Dodge. And your trucks are over priced as hell. Don't get me wrong, I have driven Chevrolet all my life, But GM designers SUCK. I could do better with my eyes closed. The one thing gm did that was ground breaking in the last 15 years was the 4 wheel disc brakes, then you had a problem and the rear brakes started to wear faster than the fronts, GM solution, back to the drums. For and Dodge picked up on it and never let up. I Know damn well you could have figured out how to fix it, I did. Also you know longer make a Sportside. I will never buy another GM just for that reason. And last what asshole engineer decided that GM 1/2 ton trucks need 6 lug wheels, what did that cost to retool ?
I had s 2002 gmc sierra from brand new. looking at these 2015 models, I'd never buy another one. a truck is a truck. don't go making a super high priced caddy out of a truck. My opinion as an X gmc owner is these trucks look pathetic.
To be a Truck lover right now is probably the best thing in the world. If I had the cash I'd take one of each. Thanks!
We've already tested it but the review is embargoed by the manufacturer until Sept 21st. We'll post it at midnight on that day.
I think its a good looking truck! I like the ideal of the big v8 power with improved fuel economy!
Where dose GM get these guys? He was as confident in his presentation as a substitute teacher and as interesting as watching paint dry.
Mine never did that. I ran AMSOIL and changed the oil every 20k after its break in on my 2007 Yukon XL Denali. Did GM fix the lack of rear AC vents issue in the Denali that plagues the rest of the new 2014 GM trucks?
Mranalface did you miss the text under that picture that said " base GMC gauge cluster"?
4:25 Taking a swing right at Ford's EcoBoost. Totally agree though.
I recommend going by Auckland, NZ time. :)
Jeff Luke, give us a small truck right meow! You can even borrow the diesel from the Cruze.
I am very excited for the 5.0 Cummins V8 Titan in 2015!! I just hope that nissan does to the titan what they did to their cars and makes it look better! it doesn't look bad, but its old!
Are Yall gonna do the ike gauntlet as well or wait til the new Nissan titan comes out and due both of them all together?
Hello again guys, if you have reason mate Fran Columbo, exibe the model in this video is the 2014 GMC Sierra Denali since 2015 still does not come out to the market or to exibition at the official website gmc.com will be able to find the information that I expose here. Keep up the good work, I am a faithful fan of your channel.
yea but theres no replacement for displacement. You can puch out more power with a bigger block then what you can with a small block
2015 titan is getting a V8 Cummins, and the new Ram 1500 is getting a V6 183 cu diesel.
YES!!! is a 2014 model Sierra Denali
Ah, naked intake runners are in-vogue once more. I'm waiting on an inbound Iridium-colored version of one of these due from the railhead by Tuesday 7-22-14.

when are you guys testing the 2014 eco diesel???
That dude was SOOOOOO baked!
its not wax. its an undercoating mixture and it save from a TON of corrosion. ask me how know
So what is the diffrence between the 14 and the 15?
They still don't have reclining seats in the back which is important to families who use it as their main traveling vehicle. Dodge has and Toyota as well.
These are work trucks not family vehicles, if you want a family car get a Yukon or Expedition or etc. Jeff Simmons
Borla exhaust, Cold air intake, chip in the motor, headers and call it a day
The rear vents come through holes in the back of the front seats, looks kind of stupid to be honest. They are in all Silverados and Sierras, I believe.
small block stands for how the cyl's are placed in the engine.
Nice truck!
How many forward gears?
Sexy truck! What is the 0-60, with that corvette engine?
7.93 seconds
DolleHengst Oh my. Im in love...LOL.
bigcartoonyIIV no big deal... my 2014 f150 5.0 will do that...
bigcartoonyIIV no big deal... my 2014 f150 5.0 will do that...
F150's arent sexy as that GMC denili
may have 420 hp and 460 TQ but youll need to be at 5000 RPM to see it
Nice truck but $50-$60k Ill buy a whole fleet of 2010's different colour for each day of the week!

so is it awd or 4wd
i could be wrong be i think 2014 they only had a 5.3 avalible

6 years later and HUMMER is boasting amazing quad steering capabilities.
Are you saying GM is bringing out the diesel in half tons??
The ram 1500 with its 3.0 diesel will sell more trucks in a week then the titan will sell in a month.
White BMW E30 M3 in the background!!
He is talking about the Ram 1500 diesel
Is there a sierra turbo diesel?
Yes but you need the Sierra HD with the duramax turbo diesel
A bit underwhelming, hopefully it will share some interior w the new GMC Yukon Denali
In the intro did he say it was a 2015 GMC ???
member that time chevy made a "mpg improved " v8 truck and we ended up with th 6l and 8l trans failures
Importation en nouvelle caledonie!!!c domage une trės jolie voiture,,,,

Lack of sleep? Pissed off wife at home? Could be anything.
Put some diesel in those light duty trucks

This is a 14 not a 15?

irish man 500 horses, huh...prove it 🙄
Not to mention the rumble bee was a waste of the name at a mere 345hp
But 2014 hasn't came yet..
Keren banget sih
as it been recalled yet lol
Dodge trucks look the best and I'm a Ford guy.
Yeah, I guess I did. :-P
black city truck
And ford has ecoboost irshman
Im sorry but towing 12k with a half ton is asking for trouble, they're too light, no engine break. GM is bloating those tow numbers just for marketing puposes. Anything over 9-10k top is dangerous and stupid.

Don't give a shit, I was born with a set of ford keys and will die with them.ford always sets the standard, and waits for everyone else to play ketchup , sounds to me like you're drinking the koolaid
Jason Jacobs Im sorry but I don't want to be found on the road dead. GM all day.
If this guy was the salesman I would just walk away...etc...
I'll take the dodge!! Much better truck than a GMC!! I put over 300,000 miles on my last two dodge trucks. And have 105,000 on the one I have now. !!!
Want a quality truck, get a Toyota Tundra, don't even look at a China Motors truck.
Lol, good one
I have a denali 6.2l and I have owned an f-150 eco boost. I can tell you, gm did not engineer the 6.2 to be a rival with the eco boost in ford. Yes the towing torque and hp is comparable, but the fuel economy is no where near what this guy is suggesting. The fuel economy on the ford eco boost is aprx. 22-24 mph highways and the 6.2 is probably about 13-15 mpg highways. I’ve owned them both... Just saying.
Amateur spokesperson for a real nice truck,,
Sumpah keren banget apalagi nggak mobil keren
How about paying us tax payers back for the bailout
GM really botched their 2014 trucks. All they have on lots are those stupid 5' beds. Who really wants a 5' bed? Go buy a Ridgeline if you do. 2nd of all you can't mix the All Terrain and the Max Trailer package... Why? Because no one EVER tow OR goes offroading with the same truck... I hope the 2015 lets you combine more options!
Who gives a shit about the dodge and it's "ecodiesel" GMs 6.2 will out shine it on ever battle front
I don't mind looking at the manufacturer promote their vehicle, but if the "Chief Engineer" is going to talk about the car, don't say stuff a salesperson can say: Give me engineering stuff!
if you have a gmc you're part of the Gay Mans Club. lol just kidding. gmc's arent that bad
Chasey Chaseykins
My point exactly Jeff Luke being an engineer should never be given the spotlight to promote a vehicle in a marketing promotion, thus my point he should not be speaking, it should be someone in the advertising dept. period. GM should leave Jeff behind the scenes creating automobiles - not promotional material.
AFM is the worst thing ever made
Jeff Luke: Why does GM follow the rest of the crowd ?
Irish man you are far behind and have no idea what your talking about. The 5.4 has been gone for several years they have 5.0 or 6.2
uhhh... uhhh... uhhhhhhhhh
dafuq??
I had s 2002 gmc sierra from brand new. looking at these 2015 models, I'd never buy another one. a truck is a truck. don't go making a super high priced caddy out of a truck. My opinion as an X gmc owner is these trucks look pathetic.
It's a Denali. As you would already know, you can get a version of the truck with less options, leather etc..
