I decided to buy some rainbow chard at the garden centre this year for the garden. One 3 inch pot gave me 12 plants I was impressed after separating them all. But I had no room for all that in the garden bed. So I thought I’d just plant them in a couple of pots. A month goes by and they aren’t growing. So I found space in the garden for half of them, once I transplanted them they really started to grow and by mid to late summer they were as big as in your video. I think the problem was they became root bound in the put i originally planted them in and they needed more room to grow. Definitely on the list for next year’s garden.

Hello, thankyou only just come across this as I searched for growing Swiss chard,I purchased some tiny plants red one s and green 2 years ago from my tiny co op store, planted them happily in 2 big troughs ,enjoyed thoroughly for a year. Unfortunately I had some growing chicks who grew into lovely big Cockerel s,so until I found homes for a couple of weeks they had the run of my small back garden. Unfortunately for me I didn't realise after a day they had completely eaten my Swiss chard,it didn't come back. So I have been trying to find some. No joy, but I have 2 pack s of seed now, I will be brave a begin my own. These will be kept safely. My garden girls 🐔. (Chickens )have a big part of my small garden, so I just have herbs in pots and weeds which I use. A big bramley apple tree, a large silver birch too.i do love just wild garden, which is good as im not very able to garden much, the garden girls provide us with lovely eggs so they do earn their keep. Also they are my dear friends, my grandchildren just love them too.thankyou so much im thrilled to have found this fantastic info on Swiss chard,I will be sharing with a neighbour few doors up ,an older keen long time gardener, we do sharing, I give a few eggs and I get some yum veg for us to eat, also lovely green s for my chickens, great around, compost too.i know he doesn't grow Swiss chard,so hope I grow lots then I can give some also. I will watch out for other video s from you, thanks very much. Oh I very recently purchased Frances tophills book. Im really loveing it so much..enjoy your garden, thankyou again, 😊.

I planted my Swiss chard 6 weeks ago from plant and it has not grown at all. What's wrong and can I just eat the unknown small leaves instead of waiting for them to grow? I'm afraid the frost is going to get them any day now sensitive mid-December in South Carolina
