Great video...my Dad had a 427 FE mid riser in a '67 Fairlane back in the day...it originally came with a 390...all these years later I still remember the exact sound she made and can call B.S. on peeps who claim to have a real side oiler but don't with one listen. Nice to see an old school expert talk about the TP heads. One thing I always got a chuckle out of was how Ford rated all the 427 side oilers the same HP...Low riser, mid riser, high riser, TP...all 425 HP.
When I was in High School our shop teacher had a contract with a local racer to build 454 Tunnel Port Fords using the 427 side oiler block and 428 crank. We ported the short turn radius of the exhaust ports by hand with strips of sand paper and emery cloth. The idea was just to moth things out, not remove tons of material. It hurts too see such a bad job on such a rare head!
This man amazes me. I've learned more in an hour watching his videos than most others, and I got all goosed up when he started talking about the Ram Air V project in relation to the Tunnel Ports. The best part that we never got to see was with the Trans Am series and their 305ci limit and those heads. They tried to make them street engines for amalgamations , but they would only sing a racing song. I ran into what he warns us about in his other videos before. I have some 8445's off of a Buick that will hopefully find his doorstep soon
interesting learning . but 20 yrs ago or so , i read about my 2.3 ford , in 1980 simple mustang just needed bowl porting and lite port cleaning to run better . well i did. raised bowl roof a little , cleaned around gudes and just knocked down port casting ruffness and fuel mileage DROPPED 5mpg , but was about to climb hills in 4th down shifting less and had a nice little GRUNT motor that could run another 500 rpm higher with more power as old stock only run near 450rpm b/4 start dying off . watching you work so i might get back into in retirement . probably tractors . thanx
man I love watching your videos , especially on the heads I was blown away, and the way you describe how they do ya' aww I can watch all day laughing so much.
hey i got a set of trick flow power port 325 that say there comp .ported and there not right ...ports are not gasket matched for intake or headers you got any videos on trick flow?
hey sir i got gm fast burn heads how big a cam can i run with my stock valve springs? what do you think about GM FastBurn heads do they flow well out the box? don't they come CNC
I was taught that if you hogg them out way too much that you would lose your low end torque , I guess if your drag racing then it would not affect it very much

I need my lt1 top end as soooon as possible. I'm tired of waiting.
Do you like to cut the valve seats on 46 degrees, when you grind the valve on 45 degree. I enjoy your videos.
What's a way to reach you to talk apples and oranges?
What happened with the 429-460 heads?
How can I get in contact with you
