I am currently working on a research project on his work for my 20th Century Designers class. This video has been very helpful! it's a true shame that his work isn't as recognized as others. Thank you so much for sharing this!
For my mom's 53rd birthday she wore a beautiful dress by Willi Smith!!! I was so surprised that his designs were still on the market when we found it in a local store!!! He was a great man and his legacy still lives on!!!
Rest in Peace Darnell his name we called him he was my 1st Cousin his Brother Norman and Myself worked for Him in the shipping and receiving department putting away clothes and taking them to department stores like Bergdorf Goodmans walking them up o. Long racks trying to keep them upright we were aloud to take clothes draw string linen pants matching banded collar shirts it wad quite a learning experience was poor this was 1977 before I went into the US Coast Guard for 20 years he made my Sister's wedding dress. He was a hilarious Cousin love and muss him I cried almost uncontrollably when he passed at a young 39
I was fortunate to live in the Willi Smith era. I followed him until his death! It was the first time a black designer was so popular And yes I had a Willi wear outfit I had it made. He was a very talented man and an icon. Toukie is a little off the chain But she loved her brother and she makes sure his legacy will never be forgotten! Thanks for the memories!
So nice

I still have an '80's WS suit ♡
I remember rocking WilliWear in high school late 80s. I can still remember the loose, draping fit!
