    Hey look I’m alive! 👀 I recorded this before I got VERY very sick and was just way too sick to edit it for last Friday. Also, side note, just wanna apologize for the amount of heavy sound editing in this one; lots of music in the background as people are talking and copyright was mean to me trying to upload this, so I had to ramp it up a bit.

    the hallway fight scene is one of my top favorite film moments ever. purely because of how it was filmed. the crew actually built a rotating set of the hallway and had the camera spin along with it. really cool.

    The spinning top was his wife's totem, not his. His was his wedding ring - in all dream states he's wearing it. But in reality, he's not because he knows she's dead. In the dreams, his wife is still there in his subconscious.

    One aspect of this film that I really love (besides all the usual stuff people talk about) is the fact that it manages to make Marion Cotillard absolutely TERRIFYING in certain moments - like the scene at 15:20 - without ever doing any sort of makeup/digital stuff to make her appear "nightmarish." It's just her facial acting and her physical movements (plus some good sound design) that suddenly make her seem creepy and dangerous.

    The song that plays every time before they wake up is "Non, Je ne Regrette Rien", which was first recorded by Edith Piaf in 1960. Interestingly, Mal (Cobb's wife) is played by Marion Cotillard, who won the Oscar for Best Actress 3 years before this playing Edith Piaf in _La_ _Vie_ _en_ _Rose_ (an incredible movie on its own).

    An all time favorite of mine, and I particularly love the ending. I know some people hate the ambiguity of it, but I think that's the point. Cobb had been struggling with getting too attached to the dream world for a long time, and now he finally doesn't care if he is or not.

Literally every word spoken in this movie matters. Cobb woke up at the end of the movie because they were sedated for the duration of the flight. Now is his mind completely scrambling after saving Sato? Well that's a different story. Lol.

    i saw this movie when a friend took me to distract me from some heavy stuff happening in my life, halfway through i had to use the loo and leaving the dark cinema, throug the dimly lit corridor and then stepping into the bathroom's sterile bright lights, mirrored walls and just general vibe of liminal space had me contemplating if perhaps i too was actually asleep. such a weird feeling to have and testament to the film that it can be so immersive in that way.

    This is what is called cinema. What a movie man! What a movie! Christopher Nolan you're a god of film-making. I can say without hesitating that this is one of the best works of Christopher Nolan and Leonardo-Di-Caprio. And not only that it is one of my favorite film of all time. Time by Hans Zimmer- One of my favorite soundtracks of all time. Its concept- What can I say about that????? The entire world just got bend, what's more is needed from life. I liked that how they shown a simple story in a very complicated way. Six group of people went inside a businessman named Robert Fischer's dream to steal the another will left by his father in a locker and how they showed this story in this 2 hour 20 minutes movie is just brilliant. I mean dream inside a dream and then again dream inside a dream and then again. Its action sequences are top notch and there's 0% doubt about it. Its story is more than brilliant. Its concept out of my words. Its casting- Good choice Warner Bros. The climax was confusing that weather that was real or just another dream but I can give guarantee that that was real because if we look more seriously and more closely to that totem that was about to fall but the movie ended there for the audience to get confused, and throughout the entire film whenever they saw us the children of Cobb, he was unable to see there faces but in the end he was successful to watch there faces and there's also a fun fact that after this movie released in theaters in 2010 Michael Caine asked Christopher Nolan that which scenes are real in the film and which are dream then Christopher Nolan replied the scenes which contains Michael Caine they all are real and in the end when Cobb came back home Michael Caine was there that proves that that was real.This is what is called cinema. This is one of those movies that is so complex that you need to watch it from beginning to end to truly understand all the details and what's going on. Every scene is so full of information, there's really no filler at all. You can't simply jump into it cold halfway through and just hope to put things together in order to really grasp how the movie got to where it is. In that sense, Inception is about as spoiler-proof as any movie can get.

Christopher Nolan said just recently that it's what he had in mind while filming the scene, Michael Caine has said that all the scenes he appears in are the real world, and the costume designer confirmed that the two kids are actually different actors than the ones whose backs we see throughout the film.

    Something that trips me out even more was when Cobb visits the chemist and tries out the compound. Upon waking up he rushes to the restroom, washes his face and just before being able to check if he actually woke up with his totem, Saito interrupts. Cobb doesn't get a chance to check, thus making the rest of the movie a potential dream state and not reality.

    If you haven’t seen it yet, and want to see a really trippy Chris Nolan movie, I definitely recommend “Tenet.” It has Denzel Washington’s son John David, Robert Pattinson, and Elizabeth Debicki who is absolutely lovely, she’s so tall and statuesque, I love her. It deals with time and is definitely a trippy movie, John David said Chris Nolan locked him in his office for over six hours during his reading, to keep it secret, and John said he had to keep flipping back and forth through the script due to Chris’ non-linear story telling, and said this is going to be one hell of a movie, I’m in!

    So everyone seems to assume [myself first time] the top is his totem, but if everyone knows about it it defeats its own purpose. The best theory I’ve heard is that his wedding ring is his actual totem. Watch and you’ll notice he’s wearing it through the entire movie but it’s gone in the last scene…

    • @Cifer77
      @Cifer77 Год назад

      There's also so much symbolism behind it, knowing it was Mol's totem, and what he did to her totem. That totem was the key to making her think the world she's in is fake, regardless if she's dreaming or in the real world. So imagine the irony in Cobb using that totem, to determine if he was in reality or not....

    Love this movie, easily top 5 for me. Not only the visuals but the score...the SCORE. Ugh. so good. I saw this in theaters and the end had everyone in my theater on pins and needles.
    JGL and Tom Hardy's characters, Arthur and Eames, were also (I cannot believe I am typing this out!) shipped like...HEAVILY using the ship name 'dream husbands' because their banter back and forth was just too good. I think it's fascinating and sort of astounding how good, witty dialogue and delivery in movies is so rare that immediately people jump on it. I never wrote for or consumed that fanfiction, but I can definitely see where they're coming from.

He was a great Irish actor that passed a while ago, buy you're likely to see him pop up in other stuff. "The Usual Suspects" is one a lot of people react to, but if you're open to my suggestion, "In The Name OfThe Father" is a phenomenal early Daniel Day Lewis flick based on a very true story to do with "the troubles" in Northern Ireland. Not sure if you're familiar with him yet either, but Daniel Day Lewis if widely considered maybe the greatest actor of our time. It's a great movie, and if I'm being honest, I can't get anyone to react to it.

    I always thought it was fascinating what this movie (and Memento, another Nolan movie) had to say about the fact that some people find reality far too painful. Most stories default to a character returning to the "real world" because truth is more valuable than fantasy. But it always struck me how the characters of Cobb and Leonard just find the truth of their world too difficult. The retreat into fantasy for them is the only way they feel they can survive.
    It's interesting. And not something I have seen explored anywhere else.

    Nolan must have some kind of fascination with Space/Time manipulation because most of his movies have those key elements. Ironically, THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS fits into that category because several events couldn't have happened within normal Space-Time (the police were trapped by Bane for the same amount of time as Bruce being imprisoned, yet their beards didn't grow, and they had no food, and Bruce healed and escaped from prison, then suddenly appeared halfway across the world, all within a very short amount of time). But anyway. I can't remember what else you have seen from Nolan, but I suggest MEMENTO, TENET and INTERSTELLAR. All excellent movies.

    You ask the right questions :> And to be fair, if i would have seen this movie 20+ years ago, it would be mind blowing.. but I've seen this a few years ago for the first time and.. i think it is quite overrated. But definitely a great di Caprio performance, but i consider Shutter Island as one of his best movies.

    They came now because they needed us to know their language when they came. They came now so we would know they are coming in the future and we don't need to be worried. They are getting it out of the way. Why 3000 years? Because they pretty much see all and knew her life time would be the best outcomes.

    Watching the movie now, you have to wonder if the real reason Arthur and Ariadne's kiss didn't work as a distraction is because Ariadne just couldn't sell it properly. And that's actually not a total joke, as after his first coming out, Elliot Page said he'd imagined all his characters had some level of queerness to them, even though some weren't aware of it (he's never specified exactly which ones, but Hard Candy in particular is VERY interesting to view with this in mind).

    The audio of the movies in your reactions are so muffled. Idk why the audio needs to be muffled. It’s hard to watch your reactions when we can’t really hear the film.

    Ambitious but flawed movie. The thing that ruined the movie for me was that Cillian Murphy's character Robert Fischer said he has a $10,000,000 insurance against kidnapping, and yet he's walking the street and hailing a cab without any bodyguards.

    The more Nolan I watch, the more I wonder if he has a problem with women 🤔😬
    Aside from his inability to pass the Bechtel test in any meaningful way with his writing, women in his movies only seem to exist to die for men's motivation (Mal), provide exposition to or at (Ariadna), or be really hot (Tallulah Riley's cameo).
    It's like he's Michael Bay, but replaces big explosions for weak attempts at high minded concepts 😅

    • @naiderl
      @naiderl Год назад

      Well, at the very least, his action sequences are much better than Bay's (not a high bar to clear, I'll admit)
