George Duke does not get the credit he deserves... He is a beast on the Mini-Moog, and is in the ranks with Bernie Worrell and Rick Wakeman... Disagree if you want, but inside you know I speak the truth...
They are all wonderful and unique players. I'm a huge fan of Jan Hammer's work on the Moog and Chick Corea when he played it also. George Duke was such a deep and amazing musician, as well as highly entertaining. Love all those guys. George was always about the groove and the melody. He had ridiculous technique, but it was always made it about the melody and connecting with the audience. I will love George Duke always.
This is NEXT LEVEL MUSIC. This man takes you to another world. No stress, no violence. Just wonderful music. Rest easy Mr. Duke. I salute you Sir. ....T
If I here another person say "oh you can't get the expression on a synth, like you can with a 'real' instrument" I will push their nose up against this screen, and say "Listen, you fool, LISTEN!!!!" George made that Moog cry!
The patch to the left of the Rhodes keyboard is a in/out send for preamps on the Rhodes. That Fender had custom tynes and hammers built in Hollywood. The Mini Moog and Arp Odyssey were given to him by Frank Zappa. To the left is a Oberheim modular system. All key inputs went into a Yamaha PM1000 mixer. Ah the days of anolog.
Around the 4:20 marker is where the true “magic” begins. Always gives me goosebumps for some reason. Something about those frequencies. 🧐 Well done Sir and Thank You.
There will never be another like George, he had such an amazing gift and the whole range of what he did instrumentally and as a producer. I think Cory is brilliant and amazing in his own ways.
Someday is one of the greatest compositions in music history.

What informed fool would disagree with that?
you would have to be a complete and utter idiot to disagree with that comment, however can we add Jan Hammer onto the list of Minimoog kings

Some sort of ARP synth
Maybe an Odyssey?
@@lordundhimself1310 Exactly. To the right of the Moog is an older Odyssey with the rotary pitch bend knob.
thundercat IS the Bass playing incarnation of George Duke lol
His older brother played drums for George Duke so I'm sure he was close to George as well.

Tyler the creator shared this in like 2013 or 2014. I'm so glad to have experienced this.
YEAAAA
6:16 when your song comes on
Oddy is ARP Odyssey Mark I...
Is that rhodes going through an overdrive?
Possibly. I think it looks like a 69'? So the amp offered tube drive, as well as verb and tremolo. That would be my guess.
Tyler sent me
a fat one
was it round, and did it have a motor, or something different?
One song that isnt creditted here is theme from the opera tzina off his feel album
