"The real protagonist is the world" - possibly the most brilliant and accurate thing I have ever heard about Skyrim. I think almost everyone feels it but never articulates it. And it is what has kept this game head and shoulders above everything else. Thank you for posting this.
You're right. The world of Skyrim feels truly alive in a way that...almost no other game world does. (Witcher comes close.) You *want* to explore this world, because you never know what interesting thing you might find in those little nooks and crannies, or what little quests you might discover just by snooping around. And sometimes, it's worth it not just because you found a treasure or a quest, but just because you came across a jaw-dropping view. About half the screenshots I took in that came were me taking 'tourist photos', as it were, because I found an absolutely gorgeous spot and wanted to document it.
I have been playing for a lot of games, every kind of them for 22 years...and there's no other game with such a a perfect Trailer like Skyrim did, the intro os the perfect itself. Period.
to this day, for me, is the game with the best musical arrangement in game history, and one of the best games ever, it has a lot morework than any movie
my favourite trailer since 2011. There are few games that make me forget everything around me. Skyrim was one of those game when I first played it. In total I played it for more than 3000 hours (says steam). I modded the shit out of this game, lol. I loved it.. I wish I could forget all about it and experience it brandnew again. There is only one other game that made me fall in love so deeply with it. Mass Effect (trilogy)
These worlds are fantastic and make you forget the corners of your screen. With those hours you have earned your stripes. If you like Skyrim and Mass Effect, you must be thrilled for Starfield!
@@HunchbackStudios Good morning :) Skyrim worked because of the beautiful open world and many things to discover. Behind every corner seems to be a little "something" to discover. Like the frozen mammoths, the bone-hand holding a sword in the lake, the giant mudcrap..stuff like that made Skyrim great for me. Also the lore and the books. Storywise Bethesda games are usually mediocre. Like Fallout 3 and 4 are storywise "meh" but their open worlds are amazing. Mass Effect on the other hand worked because it is not open world but a story-driven adventure with great characters and tons of interesting lore. Since it was not open world the story pulled you in. Not getting too much side-tracked. In Fallout 4 I never really cared to look for my son. I wanted to discover the wasteland and my infant son was nothing to me.. lol. So in regard of starfield I have mixed feelings. Its open world. Its Bethesda.. will it be like Skyrim in space or will it have a story that really catches you. I wonder.. I keep my expectations low and wait until I am sure the game is not a buggy mess ;)
@@soundofnellody262 Morning to you too. Thank you for sharing your extensive perspective. We should invite you to the show! As Matthijs said in the video "The real protagonist is the world", which seems like the best way to describe Bethesda's creation. To have a game score high on every front is very difficult. It makes you want to take a break from one game to discover another one. Especially with the time-consuming games, it is nice to take a holiday from them with another piece of art. That is the best mindset to have. Expectations set you up for disappointment and comparison is the thief of joy. We made a reaction video to the Starfield trailer. Let us know what you think when you have played it.
im gonna say from all the skyrim fans ..... its an addiction and seeing this trailer gives my eyes a river flow and goosebumps and its just perfect in every way...... soundtrack probably best in the world........ MOST PERFECT TRAILER IVE SEEN.......
Fun fact Bethesda made kinda a fun challenge for any new upcoming parents to name their children “dragonbourne” that they would get a whole bunch of Skyrim merch for life so there’s a bunch of kids out there who are now 14 years old named dragon Bourne or dovakin the Skyrim word for dragonbourn 😂
Jeremy Soule wrote the music for Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim in the story arc. Playing those game is like controlling a movie. Even now (in 2024), there are still 22,000 players a day in-game. Soule's incidental music, can be rouse so many different emotions that it can make you sad, or happy, or even take your breath away when you come around a corner of the mountains and another vista is before you.
Talking over the music while the guy you are wanting to get a reaction from is hearing it for the first time is insanely annoying. It might as well be the same as someone eating popcorn open mouthed, while texting, and loudly talking to the person next to them in a movie theater.

We share the sentiment with you. This world is truly amazing.
mass effect 3 had an amazing gameplay trailer.
To this day, one of the greatest video game trailers
Indeed, remains one of our all-time favs
this, and the debut trailer for zelda twilight princess (2006) are my all time favorites.
None ever have made me feel

Not me learning the dovah lyrics for this song and now know it by heart 😂
Hahaha, we might expect a video to prove that you are not knowing the lyrics :P.
I'm definitely not trying and failing miserably to learn the dragon tongue
Skyrim is another world other than Earth that I love. Love being out there to explore the world.
It is an awesome world indeed!
to this day, for me, is the game with the best musical arrangement in game history, and one of the best games ever, it has a lot morework than any movie

I remember when the dragons flew backwards
Haha, they do function better when they fly forward!

Hearing your accent, you are probably Dutch yeah haha
Indeed, two Dutchies with a global outlook!
Ik weet niet waarom maar iets zegt mij dat jullie Nederlands zijn.
Dat klopt! Dankje voor het kijken, Niels!
