    Are you plagued by negative thinking? This week on WellCast, we're talking about automatic thoughts-those destructive worries that creep into your mind and escalate without reason, like "I'm not going to graduate," or "I'm going to get evicted." These thoughts are actually pretty harmful to your health, but never fear! We've got an exercise that will help you to start replacing those thoughts with healthy, calm, rational ones in no time!
    Check out some other awesome episodes of WellCast:

    As someone with anxiety, these AT's are something i am very familiar with. I am learning to block them and remplace them... But it seems to take an awful amount of time to learn to do that.

    (I can't speak English very well, I just like share my experience! )
    I always think bad about myself, I'm not beautiful, I'm not clever, I have no reason to live, no body loves me and......
    But one day I start to writing a notebook, diary!
    It helps me lot, and now I'm better, when I see my diary I can understand when and why this bad thinks comes to me. Thank you for this great video, I will do it since now! With ♡ for you.

      I was like that too. What helpedme a lot was changing what I said, like the video suggests. Words affect water (scientifically proven) and we are comprised of water. Our words affect us the most. When we turn those words around into positive words, we start to be healthier and happier. It helps also to acknowledge what you feel without judging it. For example: "I feel I look awful and not pretty today. I acknowledge this feeling. Although I don'T feel it, or see it, I know that I am beautiful, and it's ok." This acceptance helps change your perception to the situation and then of yourself through time.

    this really helps for stress things too, you see I get overwhelmed REALLY easily and this can sometimes lead to mental breakdowns (especially in class and around people). Which means someone is obviously going to ask what's wrong but it's kind of hard to describe when there's barely anything to be worried about.

    This is good advice but being someone who struggles with AT Id like to say that the last step doesn't always solve everything. It's essential that you fight by replacing your negative and irrational thoughts with rational ones but what people don't realize is that this takes a great amount of energy. After a while it can really take a toll on you if your AT doesn't let up. So professional help should be considered.

    A C on midterms will ruin chances of getting into a good college.

    • @zethandrews3860
      @zethandrews3860 10 лет назад +1

      Actually this is not true, all "good colleges" look at a lot more than just grade point averages and test scores... many of them look at extra curricular activities and achievements with other organizations such as the scouts, and local YMCAs.
      Many also look at volunteer work done like for habitat for humanities, or parks and recreation programs. They also look very favorably at recommendation letters from such organizations or from teachers and professionals in the fields of what you want to go to college for because that gives them an idea on your character and your determination to succeed.
      They take all these things and often an essay from you as to why you want to go to their school into account... but this alone isn't even everything they look at... there's also SATs, full high school transcripts, university entrance exams, awards you've earned and lastly your college interviews which all play a part into getting into a good college.
      All of these things are taken into account and I have seen people with perfect grades get rejected because they're interviews were not very good because they didn't care much, but I've seen people with D's and C's get into some of the best colleges because of the fact that though they had a hard time with tests and written work (some times even having learning disabilities) they had the drive, determination and glowing recommendations and achievements else-wear.
      Many good colleges are like this because they understand that a person is more then a test score and they're often looking for people they think will be a success story they can later tout to the world that their college gave them their big chance and their education.
      While grades certainly don't hurt, they aren't the end all be all that a lot of people in high school think they are and one of the best things you can do to make these colleges want you even more is to do summer classes at a local college while you're still in high school because it shows a serious drive and determination to be a good college student and many local colleges have programs like this for high school students.
      Anyways don't think a C on a midterm is the end of the world because it's only a little piece of a much bigger picture that good colleges are looking for, and good luck with all your future endeavors.

    me but I can't get over it depression sucks

    • @DarthShadie
      @DarthShadie 7 лет назад

      It took a lot of work on my part but I got over depression (had it for years). Well, I didn't get over it, I healed it. I went the more holistic route, with naturopathic remedies, such as Back Flower Remedies, gemstones, and meditation therapy, a lot of Yoga, meditation, reading books that talk about the law of attraction and such. The key for me was finding the source of the depression, which stemmed from an abusive relationship I'd been in. I still have anxiety and PTSD, but I don'T ahve to let that control me. I find my new limits, my new needs and capacities, and go with that. My therapist told me that resistance makes things stronger, so "it is what it is" in teh sense, I can allow myself to feel waht I feel without judging myself. We did a technique called the Mind Detox. It worked wonders. Note that I do not take any medication or drugs, however, that was my choice because not everyone can handle lab made products. I don't react well to drugs or medication. Some people do, sometimes I envy them. However, even doctors today are acknowledging that medication will take care fo the symptoms and not cure the problem. Finding the root cause of the problem will lead to healing. I'd suggest finding someone in your area who can do Mind Detox and perhaps some psychotherapy and/or meditation therapy. Good books to read are "Ask and It Is Given", "The Highly Sensitive Person", a good RUclipsr to listen to that has loads of advice (he's a psychologist) InfiniteWaters. Start there, and find a therapist you feel comfortable with and you connect with. Do your research on different types of therapy first, find the one you feel most comfortable with and willing to try out and try it out. It was an uphill battle but I got there, eventually. There is an affirmation in the "ASk and It Is Given" book about Reclaiming One'S Natural State of Health. OMG, honestly it works wonders. I started doing it for head aches, stomach aches, for the scary thoughts, for my PTSD triggers, for depression, etc. It truly helps. That's a good start. Having a therapist was a huge game changer for me. I'd searched and searched but could not find one compatible with me. A combination of the holistic approach with therapy is what set me on the up to healing. And RUclips search InfiniteWaters depression, he has a few really good videos. I hope my advice can help you on your path and help you find the resources that will help you as I have. It's tough, but it doesn'T mean we can'T find happiness :) You can do it too.
