“Hamilton” is the story of America then, told by America now. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway, “Hamilton” has taken the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and created a revolutionary moment in theatre-a musical that has had a profound impact on culture, politics, and education. Filmed at The Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway in June of 2016, the film transports its audience into the world of the Broadway show in a uniquely intimate way.

He MURDERED the whole show. What an incredible and talented man.
his performance was by FAR the best, and that’s incredible hard to do with such a talented cast
He, Daveed and Renee stole the show every time they where on screen/stage
That's not the only thing he murdered 👀👀👀😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
the absolute horror i felt for the two seconds while i thought you meant it in a negative way-
@@gracejennings9034 No it wasn't by FAR the best. Everyone has their own interpretation. Ms. Goldsberry handled much bigger and more difficult scenes and songs. Mr. Jackson had to convey with his eyes as well as his voice. And so on.
If there’s ever a live action Princess and the Frog, please cast this guy as Facilier
Omg yes
RIGHT!!! IVE BEEN SAYING THIS
DISNEY MAKE IT HAPPEN
And Daveed has to play the Prince!
Tamaralee Campbell omg yess
Okay but honestly the way that they went back in time and showed us what Jefferson and Madison were talking about while Burr and Hamilton were talking was *chef kiss*
yeah! i like this instance of repeating time from different points of views as much as i liked it when they did it with a winter's ball/helpless/satisfied
Ikr! The creative team really know how to tell a story, in the album Helpless/Satisfied are pretty low on my tier list, but I absolutely love watching it being performed, and they've actually become some of my favourite songs now.
What song do they show Jefferson and Madison talking while hamilton talks to burr???
@@chamo_tito in this very song. at first there is the jefferson section "Thomas claims..." and then it shows madison's point of view of the conversation "Meanwhile..." and it's the same conversation because you can see from the choreography they made the same steps (madison taps his temple) and then at the end when Burr says "No!" after they talk about putting the Capital in Potomac it's when he takes position at the conversation with Hamilton that occurred on the beginning. You can see it's the same because Hamilton turns around the same way he did to say "Decisions are happening over dinner". So it's basically that first scene of the song - Burr and Hamilton talking, Madison and Jefferson calling him to the dinner - stretched to show the different points of views and what's at stake
@@l.josino OMG I JUST NOTICED IT. I had to watch the scene again and you're right
Leslie Odom Jr is so talented! The vocals! The choreography! UGH!
He is better in this live recording than in the album
If they ever do a live action Princess and The Frog Leslie should play Dr. Facilier
The question is how many times did he fall off that table before perfecting it?😂
If the table was steady enough, I don't think it would've been a problem
@razor blade The ensemble cast member actually ISN"T looking when he pulls the tablecloth. He's purposely looking away. Leslie looks down only after he begins the jump to ensure his safe landing. It was a slick addition to the song.
razor blade hopping a few inches straight up before landing on two feet. It doesn’t get more basic from his perspective.
@@sherakay I mean He can still see out of the corner of his eye. He is looking and waiting for Leslie to jump just not obviously. But they have rehearsed it a ton and the pull comes on the beat so it's not that hard to anticipate.
This conversation will eventually lend itself to a solution for world hunger.
He needed a whole separate Tony just for this number I will not be arguing this point
I love his little dancing and fierce and sassy expressions
Burr was like: *I’m the main character now*
i cant stop thinking about that “you dont get a say in what they trade awARRAAYAYY” its so good
And it's legit true like
Fauna is better than Beau. I have spoken
S Teir Boy Fauna’s alright. I prefer Maple and Pekoe though
Leslie Odom Jr is THE mvp of this musical.
"A hero is a hero, but everyone loves a good villain."
-Ferb Fletcher, Phineas and Ferb.
Yeah, that's the Disney quote I went with.
In all seriousness, Leslie being the strongest part really elevates the musical, considering he narrates most of the key events even when Burr isn't present (acting as a narrator in many songs, notably the first and the last, without really explicitly playing Aaron Burr in either) and explictly causes many of the others.
Lin stated that he intentionally gave the most difficult songs to Leslie and actually made them more involved to match his talent, if I recall correctly, and he pulls them off hard. It's hard not to sympathise with him, and he acknowledges his fate as the villain in history during his final big song, the penultimate song in the musical at that. Fittingly, since the musical is ended out by Eliza, the woman that outlived every character seen on stage.
In reality, Eliza tells Hamilton’s story. But in the musical it’s Burr who tells his story. He’s in almost every song, explaining the situation.
Hamilton is probably rolling in his grave that Burr gets to tell his story lol. I like that Lin made that choice though. Having Burr get steadily more irritated and jealous each time he narrates while knowing the outcome of the story is so great.
One of the things I love about this musical is that it constantly reminds you that everything we see is from a certain point of view, and therefore potentially biased, especially in this song. The whole point is that nobody knows what happened in that room, and they emphasise that by repeating ‘Thomas claims’. And in ‘Say no to this’ Burr starts off with the narration, but then let’s Hamilton tell the rest - reflecting the fact that eventually it was Hamilton himself that revealed to the world what happened, with the Reynolds Pamphlet. It’s so clever!
@@philcorrigan5641 also in the eye of the hurricane it was playing wait for it in the background.
It's interesting how Burr tells it kinda like he's relaying his time with Hamilton to a friend. In the first song he instantly says that he was the one who shot him so he's basically going through his memories.
You-you know how to read minds? That's exactly what I thought!
@@trylynarie3327 Plot twist: the entire musical is what goes through Aaron Burr's head between him firing his shot and it striking Hamilton as he reflects on that mistake.
I may be biased because Burr is my favorite character, but this is without a doubt the best number in the show... music wise, character wise, choreography wise, even the stage lighting is SICK. I'm so glad Leslie got that Tony back then.
I think wait for it might be a bit better as it gives a deeper understanding into burrs character and his motivations
Yesss! Burr is my favorite too, Idk I think he's the most mysterious one in the whole show
Mine too😊
I already watched the musical fully but I'm still gonna watch this lol
same
Same
Same
Saaame
I will never be satisfied
So let’s just discuss our opinions on Groffsauce’s spit then. Thoughts? 😂
I feel this is arguably the best song in the whole musical (getting ready for guns and ship fans to destroy me but still)
I agree! my number one is wait for it but this is a strong second!
Every song is great and something that can get your foot to start tapping. What's the point in putting one song over another when it doesnt matter and relies on personal preference?
My favorite is the one that didn't make it in xD
Congratulations
But I enjoy every song tbh 🤷🏻♀️ depending on the time of day or what happened every song is amazing
mine are one last time and ALL of king georges song
Structure wise and lyrically speaking, this song is by far one of the best
0:37-0:42 The ensemble members are given chairs, and almost sit down like in “Wait For It”, where Burr is surrounded by ensemble members in chairs.
But at the last second, they stand up and kick away the chairs, signifying thar Burr is no longer waiting for it and is going to go for what he wants.
Incredible choreography
Jesus loves you ❤️

Hats off to Leslie Odom Jr for having enough breath to sing "hold your nose and close your eyes" after that sprint at 00:22
I will always be impressed!!
Well, they did rehearse a lot also they're all ripped
I thought the same thing XD
@@siberiasian being ripped doesn't relate to cardio, those are two different things to train for. Most of them are very muscular though

Someone who understands what I'm struggling here to do
Finally watched it last night, and with the close ups it brought to my attention how long Leslie was out of breath from this. He holds it together so well during "Schuyler Defeated" and in Cabinet Battle #2 finally gets to dab his head with a handkerchief.
Right I always thought about that. And, I love that part right between the two songs when the beat drops. Makes it even more sick.
I love Leslie Odom Jr so much. He’s so talented.
You cut off the best ending to one of the best songs in the musical diSNEY-
I KNOW RIGHT! I really wish they would just post the rest of the ending! It's not long at all!
the GROWL in his voice when he sings “away” is PHENOMENAL at 0:33. props to him for being such a good singer and actor for burr.
Pardon me, have you seen Aaron Burr, Sir? He's wanted for killing an entire show, Sir! 😂 😂 😂
Do not reply to these useless senseless types of comments they only post to cause confusion if you ignore them they will go away
@@leslynflowers9722 ?? I dont understand
True that.
It’s not easy to steal the show in a cast this amazing, but that’s exactly what Leslie Odom Jr. did
Leslie is no doubt one of the most Impressive actors of all time
THE JUMP AT 0:39 WITH THE TABLECLOTH IS SO SMOOTH
Leslie steals this show and I am completely fine with that.
I think this song live was the most impressive for me. How he dances and sings that fast at the same time 🤯
CLICK BOOM!
The ensemble is just...
AHH!!!!!
Ikr lol
Every moment with Leslie Odom Jr. on stage is treasure. He makes you feel everything you should feel toward an antagonist but also makes you feel the very emotions the character feels. Between "Wait for it" and "Dear Theodosia," I was a mess. Then he comes in and tops us off with "The world was wide enough" and I wept.
This might honestly be the most iconic villain song since be prepared
The rasp in his voice just makes this performance much better than the studio recording
We were finally in the room where it happened!! Leslie is so talented!
I have replayed this song so many times. The scurry around to the table gets me every single time.
0:23 okay but the way he runs cracks me up tho
i know! it's amazingly cool
Navy Stars It kinda reminds me a little bit of the way Mr Moseby from The Suite Life runs 😂
LOL 😂
can you tell he's a jazz singer? i meann c'mon. PERFECTION!!
Leslie’s talent is simply unprecedented. Jesus, he really did steal the show.
HE MURDERED THIS ENTIRE SONG AND THE CHOREO…AND HIS ENERGY!!
One of the most deserving Tony's ever.
this choreography paired with leslie's MAGNIFICENT voice is honestly the perfect combo
Has this man ever hit a wrong note in his life, wtf
His “wait” in the D+ version was better on the soundtrack but otherwise nah he delivers
Why would anyone not like this??? I’m here when there is only one dislike and I feel proud. I don’t know why.
I’ve always loved the little run at 0:22
Hold your nose and ClOsE your EyEz
The way he says it with such SAS is hilarious ✨
I love the way he says "hold your nose and close your eyes"
Leslie Odom Jr. Was a damn revelation in Hamilton.
0:39 that jump was smoother than a piece of butter on ice on a hot summer day
the way he runs to the table at 0:23 always kills me lmao I love this man
That tablecloth pull was so smooth!!
every time he came on stage i got excited,,, he’s so talented and interesting to watch!!
I took a Theater class and learned this dance from an actress who played the Bullet in Hamilton before COVID hit.
ARIANA DEBOSE
@@jemiadelacruz4016 The teacher was actually Jennifer Geller. When Hamilton was going on tour in 2019, my theater class company was having a masterclass on for 100 students. Luckly, I was selected when it happened.
UGH THIS PEFORMANCE WAS PHENOMENAL
Me when my parents say you don’t need to know
*i wanna be in the room where it happens :(*
I love how he runs before he sits down at the table
I could watch that on loop all day
Ok but Leslie SLAYED like ok sir just take my heart and soul you can have them
This scene was one of my favorites. He absolutely KILLED IT as Burr.
If they ever do a live action Princess and the Frog. Leslie Odom Jr is my pick for Dr. Facilier
Jesus loves you ❤️
HE'S SO LIGHT ON HIS FEET!!! I love The Dance and the transition from down-to-earth man to I AM NOT THROWING AWAY MY SEATFROMPHILIPSCHUYLERWHICHISNOWUPFORGRABS
man i love him
00:40 is EVERYTHING!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I’m just dying slowly because how amazing his vocals are
My draw dropped at this scene. This is my favourite song of the show, and after seeing it finally instead of listening to it, I was just mind blown. He killed it! (and Hamilton as well)
0:39 I love this jump
Plot twist: they were planning Aaron Burr’s surprise birthday party
the way he says “but we dream in the dark for the most part” is SO GOOOOD
This has to be my favorite number in the whole show, besides Yorktown
0:23 this sprint... it makes me so happy
Don’t be shy, post the whole thing on RUclips☺️
That would sadly be illegal I think. :(
But....watching the whole movie here isn’t! flixtor.to/watch/movie/31167042/hamilton
0:18-0:25 That dance. THAT DANCE! It's adorable!
do you think leslie’s back is okay after he carried this entire goddam show on it? his performance is so GOLDEN he brings so much to the table
It still throws me off that he plays donkey in the musical of Shrek. But just makes so much sense.
Burr and Eliza literally stole the show and my heart, they were truly the best characters in my opinion.
He just sang this in Charleston, WV yesterday. It was awesome!
Can someone PLEASE do a dance tutorial to Burr's part of this dance? It's AMAZING
I need a tutorial of the ending moves, which they cut out of this clip.
My favorite part of this song is how they pull the tablecloth out from under him while he is singing!
0:23 And that, kids, is how you win a Tony.
Remember guys everything is legal in New Jersey
🗣️ LESLIE ODOM DESERVED ALL OF HIS AWARDS!
🎶And no one else was in the room where it happened!! I'm in love with this awesome song!!! 🎶😍 It is in my mind everyday!!!❤❤
He os the goat, I get speechless and goosebumps every time I watch his performance 😍 WHAT A TALENT! Bravissimo 🤩🤩
I love My Shot as Hamilton's "I want" song but my goodness I think I love this more for Burr's "I want" song. I loved watching his arc of going from cautious and reserved to this magnetic, high energy number where we see him literally take a leap of faith as the figurative rug is pulled from under his feet. Leslie's voice was a powerhouse. I love how big his vocals and dance moves became to show how he's finally gunning for what he wants...no pun intended.
So true, well said!
July 11: Rest In Peace Alexander Hamilton

I love how this man runs on the stage so smoothly, then sits down.
I’m lovin’ his little quirky run
Incredible move with the tablecloth! I want to keep watching it!

LITERALLY MY FAVORITE PART OF THE SONG
The room where it happens best song
He is so unbelievably talented. Also his run lowkey reminds me of gina from b99
Thank you so much Disney for buying the rights to this film and making it available NOW, especially when Broadway has shut down for the rest of 2020. The performances were top notch and the first hour was probably the best of any Broadway show I've ever seen. While Wicked had been my favorite for over a decade now, this has now taken it's place! Leslie Odom Jr. blew his performance out the water and rightfully secured that Tony!
*You can feel the Soul in his Acting*
The table jump in this scene is my favorite part of the whole show
I LOVE the way he runs to the table and sits down
his sassy dancing from 0:12 to 0:23 is so funny
Leslie Odom jr was phenomenal, he was, this was one my favorite bits of the show, they all did such a great job, but Leslie and Lin are my favorites, this song gave me chills when first heard it because of his talent, and such a history buff as me love these kinds of portrayals. Awesome stuff guys!!! Hopefully Lin has other great projects in the works, he’s one of my inspirations, for I’m a writer myself, hopefully I can get to write like Lin one day. Cheers!!!
I don't know why, but I just love the little run he does to sit down at the table
Thanks Disney and Lin Manuel for letting us be in the Room Where it Happens! 🤩 Spectacular!
He's just so freaking AMAZING!!!
Leslie Odom Jr. was really holding back for the cast recording, because DAMN..where did this TALENT come from???
TOP TIER SONG HONESTLY IT’S JUST SO GOOD
