I love this song! Stings voice is so soothing and Bradford Marsalis’ tenor sax fits it perfectly!❤❤

Had the honor and privilege to sit with Quentin Crisp and enjoy an, "old egg." Thrilled, when Sting penned this tune and included QC in the video. Branford Marsalis was, and remains, solid gold.

Hey there Psyche, a toe tapping song for sure. Written about gay Englishman Quentin Crisp and his experience in New York (1986). Great to see your smiling face and enthusiastic reaction. Much love, Rich

He had several very well renowned jazz musicians playing on his first couple of solo records

I heard of sting but I never heard any song from him, so I'm also reacting with you, I must say though, damn, didn't know his music is actually good! I will definitely be listening to more of him! ❤

Lovely reaction my dear Psyche 🥰 great song from Sting’s Nothing Like The Sun album with the great Branford Marsalis on the sax, other songs you should react to from it are Fragile and Be Still My Beating Heart.👍🏽👍🏽

Fab reaction and review! You may love his album in the 90's called Ten Sumners Tale. It's a whole journey with awesome storytelling with thought provoking metaphorical lyrics that Sting (aka Gordon Sumner) is know for every since his start as lead singer with the band The Police. Which BTW you MUST check their album Ghost in the Machine from the early 80's. Cheers love!

Always enjoyed Sting’s music - both with The Police and then on his own. He always wrote intelligent lyrics and incorporated different musical styles in his songs. The video is indeed very nice. Haven’t seen it in years (decades actually 😅). Kind of sad seeing the twin towers of the WTC, knowing what would come. Anyway, another terrific selection and lovely commentary Psyche! (Oh, I e-mailed you yesterday; if you didn’t get it, let me know. Been having some problems with that lately). Have a great day! 🙋‍♂️🙂💜

This album is a masterpiece imo. So is "Bring on the Night". There is a great documentary film of the same name "Bring on the Night" about the preparation for and on his first solo career concert. It is really good. Provides a lot of insight to his personality, and how he goes about arranging music.
For me there is not single bad song by him. He is an amazing composer and writer. Oh the blond was Sting himself. He has dual citizenship U.K. U.S. He has a fondness for New York City, likely from a lot of nostalgia. He talks in an interview of when he first came to NYC and when down for some coffee at a diner and realized there were... free refills! :)

I believe the song is actually based on the fact Quentin Crisp the old gentlemen in the video, had to move to New York, because he was being victimised by the British justice system for being homosexual

I would love to have met Quentin Crisp who paved the way for us back in his day. I have met people who attended his lectures and said it was a religious experience. Lovely to see him featured in this track, and apart from Sting's vocals, loved Branford on the saxophone! Gorgeous gorgeous track.
