Very clear and concise tutorial. Thank you for making this video. Also, very surprised (and impressed) that Canon will openly come and support aftermarket batteries. Would assume they make a killing off OEM batteries.

Updated the firmware but still doesn’t charge my third party batteries 😕

Nobody on the RUclips is actually showing this thing charging though.
Is there red and green charging indicators or just greens? Really disappointed in Canon not giving any support with a manual of some sort, not even online...

Agreed. If it does charge 3rd party batteries as claimed, please demonstrate. My experience is it only recognizes LP-E6N even with the firmware update. No manual and no video demonstrating the charging function. Canon’s description of the firmware : ‘Firmware Version 1.1.0 incorporates the following enhancement:
Support for the Battery Pack LP-E6NH has been added.’

Does anyone know if there is a firmware update for BG-R10 ? I can't find a link for it!

There is no new firmware. v1.1.0 is still the latest based on the EU Canon website: www.canon-europe.com/support/consumer/products/cameras/accessories/bg-e22.html?type=firmware

Is the update for the original Canon battery grip or does it also apply to third parties?

In this video I am talking about the original battery grip made by Canon.

Do you know if this works on the r6?

No. There is none for our grip yet. It doesn’t have the USB port either so i don’t think there will be one. I did just update the R6 though. I heard it helps with the eye AF

Can you charge the battery and use the camera at the same time?

    • @ChrisSpiegl

No. That's not possible even with the battery grip (at least not with the original one).

Hi. I don't have an option for firmware under my wrench icon. I only have Multi Function lock and Manual/Software URL under wrench sub menu 6. Anyone help?

I had that as well. You have to switch from video into the photo menu and there the firmware stuff can be found.
