I spin plastic bags all the time. Glad to see someone else doing it as well.

How do you prevent over-twisting pls?

OMG!!😃 I have crocheted with plain to make blankets for the homeless, but I have never thought of using my spinning wheel! this is amazing TFS off down another rabbit hole to get rid of all that plarn 😂

I have made plastic pads for the homeless from plarn, too. I've gotten a couple of astonished comments on my over-the-shoulder plarn market bag, too. I've not made so much since our state has gone over to reusable plastic bags, but I still have several balls of plarn from a couple of years ago.

You've inspired me to give this a go.
However, I'm having problems with over twist and getting spun plastic to uptake onto the bobbin ... any suggestions please?

Less tension maybe. I have trouble sometimes too and have to wind the bobbin by hand. It just takes a lot of practice. I do find that thinner strips of plastic work best. Some bags are thicker than others , I prefer the thin ones. Just keep practicing. Or if you have a drop spindle, give that a try.

Would you recommend your wheel? Does it have pros and cons in your opinion? Do you have a link? So far I’ve only used a homemade drop spindle for plarn.

I have an Ashford Kiwi 2, I think they now have a Kiwi 3 model. It's good for a beginner. I don't care for the "rings" that help feed the yarn onto the bobbin, they tend to get bent. But maybe I just use too much tension.
      I got mine from:

Do you think this could be done with a drop spindle?
