Weaving a Poncho on a Rigid Heddle Loom
Wow, that looks fantastic
Very helpful video!! 😊 When pulling the yarn through the holes - did you always take the same colour? Dark trough hole, light through slot? I tried to figure that out but couldn't quite follow...Thank you!
No, you need to thread 2 dark, 2 light. When direct warping the slots you alternate dark, light, dark light. Then when threading the heddle you need to have dark slot, dark hole, light slot, light hole, repeat. I hope that explanation helps.
Wow
WHY ARE ALL OF YOU PUTTING HUGE YARN AT START?
The waste yarn at the start is used to separate out the warp threads so they are evenly spaced before you start weaving your project. I hope that helps answer your question. Happy weaving!
Love the video! Fixing to start the pattern. Please more videos. So easy to understand!
Thanks, glad it was helpful
How do you keep the twist in the plarn? I’ve worked with fibers before, but I imagine plarn can’t just be relied on to stay twisted
I have not had a problem with it holding twist. I always ply 2 strands together, I'm not sure a single ply would hold up as well.
15:50 can you tell me the machine name? I just wondering can I buy that in korea….😮
Spinning wheel is from Ashford Wheels and looms. www.ashford.co.nz/
I absolutely love this video! It was so easy to follow. I immediately warped up my 6-ft loom and began weaving. Thank you for making such a great, concise video!. I usually crochet around the edges of my shawls, would the bias work with a crocheted edge? Or would the crocheted edge inhibit the stretch or does it even matter??
I have done a crochet border and it works great. Glad you found the video helpful
Was that a 15 dent heddle?
Thanks for asking,I forgot to put that information in the video. I used a 12.5 dent heddle.
You are AMAZING!! Thank you for such a detailed instruction! ❤
Glad you found this helpful.
@@JeneratedDesigns yes! I had an easier time understanding the hemstitching with this tutorial☺
Awesome ❤thank you so much!
So inspiring watching other weavers at work. Thanks for this
Thank you for the step-by - step! So many nuances to weaving and I'm learning alot from this series! I actually just followed along to hemstitch my scarf and although it's a little messy, I think I get the gist! THANK YOU! By the way, your cat is adorable and really wanted your attention during the hemstitching portion. It was cracking me up.
Thank you, I'm glad this was helpful.
Do you think this could be done with a drop spindle?
Sure, I haven't tried that, but it should work
Nice looking😍 I’m wondering what a kind of yarn you use for this? Love your colors 🥰🇸🇪
Thanks, I am using 8/2 cotton from Great Northern Weaving.
You are using a shuttle as a pick up stick, smart. The placemats look nice. Happy weaving!
Yes I am, I don't have a pickup stick so I just use what I have.
from Gerry= Weft floats- beautifully done. God bless.
from Gerry- I've never seen a triangle loom done this way. Usually you work across the longest side and do continuous weaving starting at the sides and progressing towards the middle. While this is very pretty you're going to be at this for a long time. Have fun. Blessings.
Thanks, it really doesn't take any more time than the traditional continuous strand weaving. And bias weave gives stretch to the fabric that I love. Happy weaving.
Thank you so much ❤❤❤❤
Thamk you for your generosity ! God bless you
Thank you.
Is the yarn comfortable if you made it into say a scarf or gloves?
No, the plastic yarn that is produced is not soft. It's great for making outdoor rugs, and mats
Plastic will also insulate like hell but not breathe, so it would probably be very sweaty to wear, kind of like a cheap polyester Halloween costume except denser and more rigid. Probably not very comfortable on the skin, but it could have some cool costume uses.
Costumes could be a neat idea.
Ist's easy.. and so cool
Thank you
I thought you were going to weave on both sides
Love your explanation! Thank you. I'm weaving a bath towel for a baby using 8/2 cotton. Do you suggest double or single warping?
Depends on what size heddle you are using. I would use 8/2 doubled in a 12 dent heddle and single in. 15 dent heddle.
Thank you! It’s a 12 dent, so I’ll double.
Love the pattern. Thanks!!
I'm having a very hard time following the direction on hemstitching 😢
Sorry you are having trouble. I'll try to make a better video on the hem stitching technique. Try this video by Kelly Casanova it might help.ruclips.net/video/gogJgvjweqQ/видео.htmlsi=Kppanh9p76EtVJ1k
@@JeneratedDesigns thank you so much! No worries! Yes, Kelly is amazing too, tho your videos are just as awesome and actually your voice is soothing. You're patient with your explanations and that's priceless for us newbies lol.
Thank you.
Hi, which Rigid Heddle Loom have you used for this one?
I have an Ashford 32"rigid heddle loom.
@@JeneratedDesigns thank you!
Thank you SO much for all your tutorials! ❤
Me brains 🧠 are exploding 🤯 with new wrinkles!
😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍😁 Ive got some fancy yarn thats impossible to knit or crochet with. Now ive got a solution to my delimah thanks to you!! 😘
Thanks, share your finished project, I'd love to see how it turns out.
❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍🙂❣️
Hi there. I tried to go to your website and its not secure. Google warned me. Just fyi. No harm. No foul. I love your teachings ❣️ You're thurough through to the end! 😊😊😊😊
Thanks, I'm still working on the website, we just changed domains, it should be up and running this summer
@@JeneratedDesigns it's all good. Keep us posted ❤️❤️❤️
I have an all in one knitting loom. Will this suffice for a weaving loom? This might be a dumb question to some but I am a bit naive.
You can weave on a knitting loom, but you will probably need thicker yarn.
Your method of warping for log cabin is totally different than the one given on the Ashford blog. I'll have to try it, to see if it's any easier. :)
I'm not familiar method on the Ashford blog, but there are many ways to warp your loom. I hope this method is helpful. Thanks for watching!
Lovely pattern! You explained it very well. This is on my list to try. ❤
Thank you. Happy weaving!!
Thanks!
Very generous of you, thanks.
Thank you!
Great job! Pls what is this design called??
This is a log cabin pattern.
@@JeneratedDesigns it is also akin to draft
I believe so, I always see it listed as "log cabin" as the name of the weaving draft/pattern.
👍♥️
I was unable to weave for a year but now I can finally get started again. I really liked your basic getting started weaving because it reminded me of some things I forgot I had to do. I also liked the technique for making the diamond. Thank you for sharing your skills with us. Dewey from the Texas Hill Country.
I'm so glad it was helpful, and that you are weaving again.
Gracias !!!😊🎉🎉🎉
Enjoyed watching you weave and show the process, you have inspired me to try the log cabin weave as my next project, thank you. Yes please more weave designs for the ridged heddle loom please . Jason 😊
Thank you. I am working on a new series of videos, hope to have them out in a few months
@@JeneratedDesigns some times seeing a weave design being created is better than seeing in on paper, will start my new project next week, thanks
Thank you for your video! I think it's a beatiful pattern and I want to use this for a towel!!
Fantastic 🤩
Loved watching you weaving & designing patterns as you go along. Did attend a short class but watching helps to understand the whole process better. Thank you for sharing. 💖💐🌹
Thank you so much for this video is a Blessing for me as a New beginner in weaving . Just order my Loom , should get it in a few Days . ❤
Happy weaving!!
Thank you! I have a stash of drum carded yarn/fiber scraps but haven’t figured out how to spin them. Same with pet “fleece.” 😂 First time I’ve heard of core spun yarn with thread autowrap. Can I ask what you used for the “core?” Thank you. 💗
I usually use my 8/2 or 8/4 cotton yarn Mohair works well as a core, you just need something strong.
She is amazing! Wish I'd found these videos six months ago. So clear and doesn't miss a step for us dummies who are just learning 😂 Camera work is superb! Love the 🐈 😻
I'm so glad you found this helpful!!
Love this! I hate throwing away scraps but never know what to do with them!
You can use leftover yarn to fill amigurumi, pillows, etc. 🙌
I enjoyed this will need to return and study the methods more. I'll be sharing this with my youthful learners this summer for sure. Need to fix the antique drum carder that I have been carrying around in the car. I am not sure what is missing. Do you have pictures and explanations that I can study to make this a working machine again? Thank you. I'll be back!!
I don't have much experience with how to repair a drum carder. You might try searching for drum carder videos. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
I just ordered from this company….can’t wait to take my combing up a notch from a dog comb. Just a shame that you are the first video I have found with this brand. Thank you.👍
