I can see now why there's a huge admiration for Access synths. I did encounter some timing issues during playback in Cubase but it bounces just fine. I will deffo be using this again
its running the rom in a PC shell and GUI, so its not actually emulation, its just the engine in a different body you could say... in other words, its not emulating anything...
@@PedroAnastazi Actually what you said is only possible because it's an actual emulation of the DSP hardware chipset many synths had to create the sound and effects, like it happens in this case with the Virus, among others. So indeed it's an emulation in the most literal possible way. Similar for instance to videogame console emulators that emulate the physical hardware of a console. You are right though in relation that it sounds the very same because it is using the very same core the hardware virus actually runs. But again, that is only possible thanks to the emulation of the chipset.
@@Jeslandor u explained it better than I did. How did you install this ? For some reason when I put the folders into the VST3 folder and scan for plugins they disappear, but only when using with FL
I’m a bit confused. I own a desktop virus TI but don’t have enough space. I love it but don’t use it. I emailed access about going ilok or small usb hardware security device skipping plugging in Virus. I would love a plugin version for logic. I don’t really understand this. So I can download this and import my virus patches and it will work? So Roms are like wav patches? I can only find 128 from version C
It wouldn't be more accurate though, they can match it with insane effort, but never surpass this emulation. From the business point of view it doesn't make sense to emulate the Virus to offer a less accurate rendition I guess.
Theres already a good one by Adam Szasbo called Viper- its very close. I however like this, its authentic plus few technical issues. CPU use is pretty good, just the odd spike now and again on some patches.

I have problem with that. My processor using almost 90% and sound is cracking. My sound card is from motherboard msi but i have Asio drivers and 512 latency. Processor is Pentium i3 4170. What i can do to improve that? I see good working here.
I cant seem to get the vst2 to run in ableton...I installed the dll file into my vst folder, placed the virus b rom in the folder but ableton doesnt display the plugin after scanning and restarting
What the heck is a ROM file and where do I get one, please? A search provides a confusing array of results that I cannot parse. EDIT: Just read that sharing ROMs is illegal! Hmmm...
To be totally legal, buy a hardware unit. Even people with hardware units will want this, as its so much more practical to work in the box for many of us!
The CPU DSP processing is unbearable, causes glitches and stutters on most patches. If only I can find a Monster computer to run this on! The devs did not entertain multi-cpu processing when they designed this emulator. You can have a 16 core behemoth Mac Pro and it will still bring it to it knees b/c the code will only use one processor. Even in the video I can hear the CPU glitching out from this emulator. What a shame. when you can get a sound out of it, it does sound amazing, and that is a big if.
@FunkRaum You can probably buy an actual virus for the cost of a PC to be able to run this by the sounds of it. Thankfully i have one! And i must say, i'm actually not sure this sounds THAT much like my virus.... It definitely sounds like it. But i wouldn't say 100%.... but then maybe it's just the way i use my virus compared to these patches, and also.... who cares. It sounds great still :)
