Just found your channel and love your videos. Been a rock drummer for a long time, but my rudiment chops need a lot of work. What practice pads do you use
I'm having troubles playing the flams in the second measure (back to back flams? not sure if there's a name for them) at a faster tempo. Do I need to just play more open/loose or something else?
also when I try to play with you at the end, the RR LL ( two diddles right?) I can't help but want to play it as a double stroke but I assume you are supposed to stroke them out, right? any tips here as well? thanks
Derek Hwang yes! People call those “floppies “ .when the tempo gets quicker I relax the motion of the rebound. The 16th notes are doubles or diddles. They just aren’t fast so I wrote out the rhythm. Hope this helps!!
@@marcushawkinsmusic He could also play those five let flams as singles and add the flams to them then speed it up to tempo . By the way I like this lick also.
It’s always helpful when the lick is demonstrated in its entirety at the start of the video.
1:04 gave me flashbacks to learning Bleed by Meshuggah

Martin Haumann thanks for checking it out . Let me know if you have any questions
Fun lick! Missing one right handed tenuto in the penultimate beat... Cheers :)
