Hey Seth, it's Scott, Race Director of the Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon sharing the start line spot with you. So sorry that I had not heard of your channel yesterday but you were super polite, super chill and now that I see this video, super talented. I'm now a subscriber and thank you for sharing your talent. The race was the spectacle I had hoped for and now that I ran through the streets today, I have SO MUCH (more) appreciation for what the athletes dealt with yesterday. Those hills are never ending and they were eating them up with gale force winds. So happy to have been witness to the party and to have met you.

Nice. The whole beginning was great. It is what NBC coverage should have been. The drama, zooming in on the key players, Rupp sitting and saving himself, then standing for the national anthem. They showed more closeups of the alphaflys and the three announcers than any of that. Every other sport broadcast shows the athletes gearing up, the anthem. They would never cut away to show the Gatorade being mixed.

I am new to running started about seven months ago. My son runs cross country and track. I could never connect to him because I played others sports growing up. I tried tell him things about having a mental toughness about running but I didn't run so I decided to do less talking and actively started running. I ran my first 5k trail run, then I ran a 10k, then I ran two half marathons and then ran 10k trail run, next Saturday I am doing a half marathon trail run. What I begin to notice my son is listening to more but what is helping me the most is learning about the running community. Video channels like this are so informative and inspirational and I am so glad to have found this channel and being a part of the running community. Keep up the great work.

Abdi is the most underrated American runner. He always shows up on big stages! Kipiego is another runner that is legit.

Pity you couldn't get into the secured Village and the training areas to feel the 'athletic energy' in the air but even hanging around you'll be inspired by the human spirit of an Olympics which will make for some awesome video. Abdi was a surprise, a good surprise. I was rooting for Jim, of course. Bernard Legat not making it was a surprise. Jared or Scott not making it also a shock. Galen Rupp, no surprise. I knew that if he was healthy it would be Galen Rupp and then 2 and 3. I think that he has a great shot at gold this year. These are all great great athletes and I am proud of all of them. Thank you Seth. I am grateful to you.

Glad you enjoyed your trip to our city. The crowds didn't surprise me - the Atlanta Track Club is the second-largest in the country. They paid the expenses of every runner who qualified. 1400 of us volunteered. It's a shame you couldn't make it to one of the aid stations - we offered personalized bottle service to every runner, one bottle per lap. Which meant fluid stations of eighty tables, over two city blocks. ATC volunteers organized and put out over 4,000 bottles - the largest hydration project ever. We call Atlanta "Running City USA" - I hope you got a sense of why.

Let's gooooo Aliphine ftw! She was the first pro I met when I moved here to Flagstaff last fall. She's so amazing and down to earth and at the time was coming back from an injury. So amazed to see she performed so well at the trials

My son and I got up at 4am in Australia to watch the trials on the Olympic Channel. I think NBC failed to really capture the spirit of the race, particularly on the women's side. Your shots were great. The main NBC commentator was Leigh Diffy, an Australian who made his name commentating on motor racing, went to the US to cover NASCAR. Now he is covering marathon running. It was obvious he knew little about the drama and human elements of the sport. Ward, whom most were predicting would be in the top 3, had the flu and faded in the second half, as did Sarah Hall, I think. That is the main failing of the trial system, imagine if Kipchoge became a US citizen and got the flu or an injury just before the trials. He has a 2:01:39 qualifier, and would be the absolute favourite for the Gold in Tokyo, yet would not be there under that scenario. Still a great spectacle. My son and I went out on our 16km (10 mile) long run after it, so the early start was good for us as it was hot, 31c or 88f in my home city yesterday. Thanks for your views, they captured the spirit of the event much better than the official coverage. I feel disappointed for Jim Walmsley, I suspect he missed the memo on tapering, but that's just my ill informed observation.
