While I like Kit Harrington’s performance and think he’s perfect for the role I do wish they kept Jon’s Intelligence I’m the show, in the books his deal with the Iron Banks makes it quite clear that’s he’s more then capable of playing The Game and playing it well (his name was being whispered from Braavos to King’s Landing and Cersei was even gonna try and have him assassinated before the Faith Militant fucked her over)
I love the way this is read as it actually shows Jons angry out bursts, which are actually easy to miss because hes usually silent, sullen and suspicious.
Donovan Powell Well, they do made him more of a traditional hero in the show, just like Tyrion. Also, leaving the watch when he had seen army of the dead with his own eyes is kind of a dick move, and leading his army straight into Ramsay's trap was fucking idiotic. He should not have been made King in the North after that, imho.
Donovan Powell: Actually the most boring characters in my opinion (ignoring the fucking kids) as a book fan are Jon and Dany, because they are the closest to the clasic hero figure. First time you read, Jon is by general rule everyone's favorite, but if you read a second time, he will probably fade in comparison to more gray characters. That apart dance Jon (the one to that differs from Show jon) is much more interesting, because his moral faced an ambiguity, he wants to keep his oath, but he would be an asshole if he does so, just think about it, his family lands are in the hands of a traitor who killed his brother, and his sister is in the hands of a monster widely known for skinning people alive. Despite it Jon does his best to remain neutral (he helped Stannis more than a little bit, "words are not swords" though (this is just as lame as to finish his oath because he died forgetting about the "all the night to come" part)). And technically, he only broke his oaths when the Psico-skinner threated to atack the night's watch unless... he broke his oath (by delivering Stannis family he IS SIDING with the Boltons), at that point there was no right choice and in my opinion that makes Book Jon far more interesting than show Jon, who faced a similar choice but with a Moral excuse to keep him pure and honorable.
@Donovan Powell Sansa being named Queen would've made the show more interesting imo, Jon shouldn't even get close to the crown due to his status as a bastard in the first place. In TWoW I believe Stannis will win the Battle of Ice and take Winterfell, I don't think Jon will really come into the forefront in the books (like he is in the show) until the war with the Others begins, then again I'm not entirely convinced he's Azor Ahai either.
I think it's more multiple characters will make up Azor Ahai, mainly Jon/Dany/Jaime. I do think though that Jon is the Prince that was promised through R+L=J and more than likely be King at the end I just don't think he'll be King of the North the way he is right now in the show, I think they just skipped to that part to simplify the story and get to the end. The two characters I for sure without a doubt see dying before the end is Dany and Arya, Dany will never sit the Iron Throne. Also I think there will for sure be an Ice Dragon but it won't be one of Dany's dragons like in the show (possibly under Winterfell, not inside the Wall lol) I think the show made Viserion the Ice dragon for simplification reasons, Euron might actually get one of Dany's dragons with his horn, but then again I think the whole "The dragon has three heads" thing is in there for a reason (three riders) so who knows I'm just enjoying the ride lol
I also love the charpter in a dance of drangons where jon convinces stannis not to go to the dreadfort and change his plans, it really showed his wisdom in warfare and the knowledge that he got from Ned
Remember the scene when victareon catches the sword of Ser Serry with his mailed fist ✊ during the battle of shields. Serry asked him, "who are you, kraken?" And Victareon replied, "Your death" That was so cool, even though he was cruel.😂
Vic is one of my favorite characters He vaulted over the gunwale, landing on the deck below with his golden cloak billowing behind him. The white roses drew back, as men always did at the sight of Victarion Greyjoy armed and armored, his face hidden behind his kraken helm. They were clutching swords and spears and axes, but nine of every ten wore no armor, and the tenth had only a shirt of sewn scales. These are no ironmen, Victarion thought. They still fear drowning. “Get him!” one man shouted. “He’s alone!” “COME!” he roared back. “Come kill me, if you can.”
Victarion is not cruel. He is like what every soldier should be -- faithful, loyal (eventhough he hates Euron), brave, badass but also respects the brave enemy. Later in the same chapter when Euron shames the women of the shields lord he thinks "It is one thing to fight an enemy and another to shame him." Victarion is one of my favourite character though I know Euron sent him to his doom in East.

One of the best chapters of ASOS

Listening to this just reminds me of the mess that Game of Thrones has done to Jon's character.

Comparing Show Jon season 8 to Book Jon is like comparing a dung heap to Valyrian Steel.
