- ► The Mercedes-Benz C250 was a great car but not without its hang-ups. As the model ages, you'll likely have to replace the valve cover gaskets due to oil leaks. The valve cover gasket seals the valve cover to the cylinder head and keeps all of the engine oil inside the engine to lubricate the valvetrain. A leaking valve cover gasket can allow debris to enter one of the most critical places inside the engine, potentially causing a more significant problem down the road.
Another problem you might encounter is oil filling the spark plug tubes. Part of the valve cover gasket are the seals around the spark plugs. Those seals can dry up and allow oil to leak into the spark plug tubes, which will cause further problems with the ignition system. Replacing the gasket is very doable in a DIY setting and can be completed in just a couple of hours at the slowest.
Watch along as Mike Hidalgo, FCP Euro's Professional DIY'er tackles a valve cover gasket replacement on a Mercedes-Benz C250.

Dealer quoted me $957 to replace the valve cover and gaskets on my 13’ C250 Sport. Took me 2 hours and $100 in a replacement kit using your video. Thanks!
Nice work!!!
Yep!
I got quoted $1167 and I bought the part myself for $130 and did it in about 2 hours as well. Super easy job.
Thank you Mike!
You are a natural born teacher! Your direct instruction in auto repair is appreciated!
And your know how to do what you are instructing us to do is very experienced.
. Thanks for all your content.
Enjoyed watching this, great job describing tools, techniques, and materials. The video and audio was clear and concise.

Se tan fácil hacer lo, pero al tratar lo es otra cosa diferente 😮

Great video. I followed your instructions and replaced the valve cover gasket without any problems. Needles to say, I saved lots of money! Thank you, and keep up the good work. - Jose
Great video, I followed your instructions and it went like a charm.
what would you say was the most difficult part? I am about to take on this project myself.
Hi mate
Looking to do this tomorrow did you disconnect the battery
Cheers
tank you for the instructions👍, great job.
Great video thanks
Great job.. Thanks
Excellent job thx
Great video do I need to disconnect the battery for this job
Thanks 👍
Before you made the repairs did the thermostat get hot like it will act up going up and down
Great video! This content is priceless, thank you very much! I noticed in my engine that 1 of the 12 E10 bolts is longer (3.5cm vs 3cm thread), does anyone knows where is the location of this one?
I can't find a video on RUclips for valve stem seal replacement. I have a mb c250 2015
any tips or any video for that model please
i really like this video and I hope you have one for the valve seal
I know you sell Land Rover parts too. It might be a small audience, but there are ZERO maintenance videos for LR4s (or anything else) with the SCV6 (the AJ126 engine). I'd love to see videos on coolant crossover pipe replacement, water pump and accessory belt work, valve cover gaskets, supercharger service... the content is endless because Land Rover.
I'm hoping to see some disco sport content for my vehicle
"The content is endless..." hahaha
Because he has another Land at the garage for replacement. No need to repair this brand car
Best video ❤
Great!! My mechanic screw-up several screws. Could u tell me how many are a complete set ( long and kind) Thank you so much!
Any thoughts on why a w205 will not turn over aft performing this?
Very professional job done. Thanks for this video. Tell me. Do I Have to disconnect my battery to this job?
Hi Philip, it is not mandatory to disconnect the battery for this DIY, but it certainly does not hurt to do so!
@@fcpeuro Thanks a lot.
can you make a video of replacing a starter for a Mercedes c250 please!!
Hi my friend I have a question
I have to disconnect battery before I do this job ( thank you
And I hope you answer my
what if i had the valve cover gasket replaced and my 2014 c250 is still leaking dots of oil daily
Great! Any changes in the car performance after replacement
Performance gain= No more oil leak.
Great video!! Can i know what’s the brand of the torx bit socket you used in the video.
Thank you.
Appreciate that, Wadi! Those bits along with the main group of tools we use are all Gearwrench units which you can find on our site!
Since this video is so old, this is a long shot but ill try anyway. Does anyone know what the "vent pipe that goes across the valve cover" is called? 4:25
How do you or is it necessary
To clean oiled spark plugs & Coil pack out of cyclyder head sockets... 1& 3 have oil in shaft???
I used small pieces of paper towel (MANY of them) rolled up and pushed them down one at a time to soak it up. I saw another video where they said they used brake fluid cleaner and blew it all out (I assume they covered the hole with towels when they did it or you would have oil blown everywhere!).
Great video. Do you need to do oil change after doing this?
Hey Seahawkgreenblue6085, it's not necessary to do so, but it's not a bad "while you're in there."
That was excellent.. This has been done 5 times.. Why does this keep happening.. Always the rear 2..
You can't use any sealants.. Frustrating
can you please do a valve cover gasket replacement on an N63 engine
F10 bmw 550i 2011-2016
- thanks!
We will at it to our queue!
@@fcpeuro thank youuu, let me know whenever it’s posted so I can order!
What brand would u personally recommend for the valve cover gasket ?
Original Mercedes
Elring
Or Victor Reinz
Whichever is the least expensive.
Hello, I have the M 272. Im looking on FCP for my vehicle and under Valve Cover Gasket it shows Anaerobic Gasket Maker and then a small round 27214110780 Cover Gasket and then under Valve Cover Gasket Kit it just has Permatex 51813 Gasket Maker. Now im confused.
Hey there timb7775! The M272 and M273 engine family use a valve cover design that incorporates the upper portion of their cam bearings. As a result, these engines use solely the anaerobic sealant you see to affix the valve cover to the cylinder head rather than a typical rubber gasket. The perk to this is that the valve covers almost never are the source of an oil leak on these engines; the crux is that removing and reinstalling the valve cover for something else can be a tedious job. The part number you included is the seal between the throttle body and the plastic air intake boot located near your firewall at the rear of the engine.
If you're already in there and are trying to reseal things, the sealant will be what you're looking for to seal the valve covers. If you're attempting to seal up the leak, take a look at our "Common M272/273 Oil Leaks" video! That one may point you in the right direction.
Happy Wrenching!
Great.. Did twice.. Cylinder 1 continues to leak any suggestions.. Thanks
Probably the valve gasket it’s not sitting correctly.
Does anyone know where I could order the hardware securing the ignition coils ? The set of 8 ?
Hey Johnathan! Try Mercedes part number N910142006008
Hey man I know you are probably busy, but is there anyway I can send you a picture of we’re my car is leaking the oil ? Idk if it’s this. I’d appreciate it a lot
Hey Kid, feel free to reach us at service@fcpeuro.com with an image and vehicle info so we can check it out!

You can drive it as soon as you have it back together!
Dealer quoted me $1200, tool me less than an hour and the part cost $25
They rob people
How much at the dealer? $3K? Lol
