The most wonderful video of whales I’ve ever seen. Sequence of events, under water shots and music score. Great camera and diver. Felt I was along for the ride. Weeeee! 🐋 🌊 🙏
I'm also convinced that dolphins move thru the water by means we don't fully understand. They barely move their tails while flying thru the water, especially while in front of a fast moving boat.
J Day When the boat is moving at speed it creates a bow wave of pressure in front of it. The dolphins love to ride this wave as it pushes them along with very little effort, much like a human on a surfboard.

It's an amazing experience, I highly recommend it. Some of the whales in that lagoon are old enough to have been around when we hunted them, in that very area. Yet the mother whales actively encourage their calves to come up and meet us. The calves are shy at first and you can see the mother's nosing them up to the boats. A very humbling experience, one that will stay with me forever.
@@dumbbunnie123 I didn't realise that Sarah. In that case I shall tell you more about it. The whales feel kind of how you expect them to, like smooth rubber. Soft on the surface but very solid beneath that. These Gray Whales have barnacles in patches all over their skin, and many whale lice (about the size of a small spider, they have a powerful grip and cling onto the whale with strong legs). These seem to itch the whale and they will often scrape their nose on the boat to rub a few off. They quite like it if you scratch them with your finger nails when they come to say hi. When the whales come up to the boat, their exhales blow in your face like a moist spray, sometimes you catch the glitter of a rainbow in it. They have fishy breath, not the greatest but you are so pleased to meet them that you don't care. They come to this lagoon in Mexico, either to breed or to give birth (if they got pregnant the previous year). Scientists have not seen Killer Whales in this lagoon (chief predator of the Gray Whale) and think that's why they come, a safe place to give birth. The lagoon is full of whales, many 100s. When you are on the main boat you can hear and see puffs of whale breath going off all around you. It's very beautiful and amazing to meet such a large and intelligent wild animal, that just wants to say hi. The more noise and splashing that you make, the more likely that they will come up to see you as they are very curious. Have a lovely weekend Sarah, I'm so glad that you enjoyed my video. ☺️🐳🐋

@@ryansedgwick-londoncycling9007 Thanks for the response. Sadly, few people understand the wonder that exists within our Oceans. Your video really captured some of that ecosystems majesty. I hope you will one day create yet another of these videos so that others may see it to. Good luck to you.
This is both concerning and precious. Precious that the whales are this friendly and gentle. Concerning in that someday these whales will get hurt. They're getting far too cozy with the boats. And people interacting so closely with them from the boat is only encouraging the behavior. They are going to get hit by a boat one of these days. :(
Sydney P The Mexican government run a deal with the fishermen in San Ignacio lagoon (where we meet the grey whales). During the whale breeding season the whales come into this lagoon to hide their young from Killer Whales. During these few months the fishermen agree to cease all fishing activity. In return the fishermen are the only ones allowed to take tourists out to meet the Whales. Even then, they are only allowed to operate in one section of the lagoon, the rest of the lagoon is left for the whales only. This means that the only boat operators are very aware of the whales so won't hit them, and the whales have plenty of space to avoid the boats of they don't want to play. Plus there is no fishing activity to disturb the whales and the fishermen make more money from tourist fees and tips than they do in the rest of the year when they can fish. It seems to be a good compromise for all.
The whales won't always stay in the lagoon. It may not even be a fishing vessel. It could be a cruise liner for all we know. This is just a very very bad idea. When the animals migrate, they will still have that association. And will go up to boats that may not be so nice to them. All in all, it's still a recipe for disaster.
