    It might seem unbelievable to you, but there are people in Serbia who would look at the sight of this booming tourist destination with a beautifully arranged central square, plentiful greenery, lots of shops, lots of happy people and also happy business owners, and above all, tons of enjoyable things to do, and say to themselves:
    'Horrible! They've ruined Zlatibor!'

    • @JetLagWarriors
      @JetLagWarriors  Год назад +22

      We met a local in Mokra Gora who said exactly that lol. So, we went to Zlatibor with low expectations, and then we were surprised. I guess we have different eyes. Our eyes cannot see what Zlatibor used to be like--only what it is like now. We are looking through tourist eyes :). For us, Zlatibor was great!

      No one has anything against what you wrote, but against buildings that are very narrow and go too high, not well urbanistically arranged and adapted to the domestic mountain architecture. If it was done in an good urbanistic way, no one would complain, but not all parts are bad. No one has a problem with new construction if it is in such a way that the construction does not destroy historical entities, the view, historical buildings. But there is much more to Zlatibor than the center like Stopića cave, Waterfall in Gostilje, Mokra Gora, Tornik, Museum “Staro selo” (Old village) Sirogojno.

    • @SerbAtheist
      @SerbAtheist Год назад +1

      @@amarillorose7810 Narrow and high is exactly the way to go on a mountain. Don't tell me anyone would pay premium money for an apartment in the mountains that looks into an atrium or something. I personally think the tall and narrow buildings go well with the tall and narrow golden pines of Zlatibor.
      As for some imaginary architectural sanctity of the previous version of Zlatibor, the trees are still there, the nature is still there and the central area is still splendid. The only thing gone is the old bus station for which it would be laughable to suggest it had any architectural value.

I would argue that its nature is even more stunning. Just visit some random lakes and you will never go wrong. I saw only north Italy and people say the south is different but just as beautiful. Just a recommendation, if you want to explore outside Serbia, Italy is still quite close to drive to and food is even cheaper than in Serbia, especially things like canned tomatoes, beans, dried meats and cheese... With the best sights in the world, i think its worth the gas money :D

      @@necasto They are not MUCH more expensive by any means. Even coffee is cheaper in Italy because of their tradition and competition they have there (since you brought caffes), but random things like deodorants, shampoos, olive oil and canned goods are miles cheaper than in Serbia and other things are mostly the same price and very few things are more expensive, you would be surprised if you explored the supermarkets... Restaurants are also very slightly more expensive, which is to expect from a country that has so much better average salary. Shoes are cheaper also, which doesnt affect the tourists notably, but food is NOT more expensive i can guarantee that. Toll roads are bit more expensive and accommodations of course and those even can be close to Serbian prices easily. Petrol (Gas) is also miles cheaper than in Serbia, so those toll roads are equalised at best :D

      @@frog382 Italy has 50 milion of tourists, and they don need to be cheap! Of course, it is beautifull country with great history, natural beauties and sites! Also, working force is two times cheaper in Serbia! Everyone can see blogs that compare prices in Italy and see how "cheaper" is ...

      @@necasto My parents bought house in Italian "village" for 30k €. Its 100m2 and its next to a farmacy, museum, theatre, 3 massive supermarkets and the food comes out cheaper than in Serbia. Yes, some things are BIT more expensive, but those that are cheaper are FAR more cheaper. Im talking about 2-4 X the price than Serbia. I visit there regularly, so i dont need to check blogs that can be biased or not thorough enough, i see for myself the reality and its sad if you are a Serb to see people with 4-5X more money buying things for 2-4 X less money :) I hope you see my point. The prices of accommodations are higher because of the higher prices for housing and bills that government asks (which is normal when you have such higher standard of living), but its still nowhere near proportional to Serbian prices considering the standard of living, so that paints a part of the picture of the government corruption comparison. No government is clean, but some are more than others...

    I don't know if you have history knowledge, but Serbia is a part of the earlier Dacia Aureliana. The slavic people (Dacians from western Asia, mostly saka/scythians) came to this zone in the 6-th century AD.
    Sarcophagi (see info about the ancient Egyptian Pharaohs, they originated in east Dacia near the Black Sea) of the ancient Dacians are stil found allover ex-Yugoslavia, but since the (ordered by the leninist global elite) splitting of Yugoslavia in different state, because of nationalistic identity frustration (and claim wish to their teritories to avoid future such wars there), every state of ex-YU claim now historical and nation ownership of the sarcophagi found in each of their (ex-YU) teritory, in order to push their nationalistic agenda, and therefor they even changed the date of those ancient sarcophagi to a very recent date, in order to fit their modern nationalistic agendas.
    Sad but true.
    I have visited once the Serbian Banat, but the rest I know only from documentaries.
    Beautiful places.

    Beautiful mountain, got destroyed by people… In Swiss they would never let people build whatever they want and how they want. Especially those the tall glass buildings. That’s why I respect them. The best ski resorts and the most beautiful villages.

    I am watching all your vids, randomly fond you, good job touring my country and enjoying it . People coming here and enjoying themselves is the best defense against the Anglo German propaganda which taught you all to fear us . A united Balkan was not an option for the West so they divided us and further more ruined our reputation through movies and media.

    Zlatibor from winter resort for kids transforms into bunch of apartment buildings, it isnt the same place anymore, isnt attractive for me. For some people it is. Municipaliy of Čajetina, Zlatibor is a part of it, is one of the richest in Serbia in latest times. After Belgrade and novi Sad, the richest in the country.
