I agree with a woman who said taking care of the grandchildren is a pleasure for sometime but it becomes a burden when they are bound to do it throught. Very true i see my sister facing this in reality eventhough she never spoken this out. Let them live their life peacefully atleast now.
From current generation atleast everyone should plan their retirement financially...save for ur selves and your spouse since it's impossible to depend on kids since they will be busy with their lives in future. Financial independence will give us respect n dignity n happiness in our old age.

By better life it means increased life expectancy from 20 years to 69 years. I believe his thoughts has nothing related to being anti social. Also, we might have a rich history which we should be proud about. But we also need the empathy to appreciate what other cultures have achieved as well. Being empathetic to other cultures and elders is part of our culture as well. I hope we can agree on that atleast...
