- My Daughter and I travelled to Atlanta to Visit the Strager Things Locations from season 1 through 4! It took three days but was such a great experience. We even got some interesting insight into season 5 upcoming filming in May!
This is a crazy show that is probably not for everyone, it can be scary so make sure you are ready for that type of content if you watch it. But for me as a Father it is important to spend times doing things my kids are interested. Hope you enjoy our journey whether you have seen this show or not.

So typically for tv shows like strangers things, they film exterior shots on actual buildings ie the houses or the Hawkins lab, and any interior shot is done on a soundstage. The main reason they do this is the studio or Netflix don’t own the homes, and you can’t really evict people every-time you need to film at the house. So it’s just easier to film the exteriors decorate them however you need to ie Halloween or Christmas and pay the owners a inconvenience fee and promise they’ll return the house to good as if not better condition. Filming on a soundstage also gives them more control over light, time of day, and shooting angles. Houses aren’t really designed to have giant studio light and cameras in them, stages allow them to remove the wall and ceiling for lights. On super rare occasions they do film on the interiors like on wills house at the end of season 3 or when they are running from the demagogs at Hawkins lab. Netflix does also tend to rent houses from realtor companies like the vecna house but these houses tend to sell shortly after production has wrapped. The Vecna house was chosen specially because it was one of the few Victorian homes in Atlanta without a renovated interior.
I do have to imagine though fans do end up buying these homes, and there are people who are perfectly okay with people visiting while others hate the idea that people want to visit their home. But there’s definitely instances where after shooting is done the homes go up for sale and people buy them not realizing that they were in a show/ season that isn’t out yet. Or people might not watch the show and just like the house and suddenly have fans showing up to it everyday, which definitely feels like a warning the realtor should of have to the potential owners

wow I never thought that the filming scenes and places would be so far from each other since in the Show Hawkins looks like a small town but in real life where they film these location for the show are so far and they have yo have to drive like several minutes or hours to guet to the location. xd For example, the houses of the characters are too far from each other, as well as the other places that they showed, such as School and the little shops where they worked, everything is very interesting...and see the places where some scenes for the Show are filmed! :)

Used to live less than 2 miles from the school there in Stockbridge. Spent 20 years there before moving to colorado
I was a background actor in this show, Inside is very cool of the school they do film a lot of stuff in the school, and they have like old macs and stuff inside a closet type room in main hallway, where the radio and stuff were, the classrooms actually have desks in them, the whole place functions still like toilets ects, the worst thing i remember filming was the snowball scene for season 2 it was MADDD hot in the gym while they kept pumping smoke in the gym, and playing the same song OVER and OVER again. But yeah Ive been in season 2 and 3 of the show
Ahhh! I drive by Vecna’s house everyday on my way to work! I didn’t know that church had a nuclear bomb shelter! 😜 also, the asylum in the show is in the same town as Vecna’s house! Berry College!

I'm from Covington GA it's been used for alot filming tv shows and movies they have tour/musuem of all movies/tv shows locations & collectables. The place with morale on the wall might be Jackson version Tour/musuem type deal.
When I went to Atlanta I saw the lab and the pool and both were cool but a bit sketchy!

That house that was down that dirt path was made into a lego set from s1 I think not sent 100% sertain of the season but it’s an awesome set that I wish I bought as a legohead however I was not into SS at the time so I passed but now I want it😊😊

When Is the Season 5 Release Date? David Harbour Just Shared a Huge UpdateStranger Things
We may finally know when the Netflix show’s final season will debut.
For Stranger Things fans, one question towers above all the other mysteries: When is the Season 5 release date? Netflix has already confirmed Stranger Things Season 5 will mark the end of the series, though spinoffs are already in the works, so anticipation is high for the sci-fi megahit’s final episodes. Now, we finally have an update, and it’s a big one.
Speaking at the Middle East Film & Comic Con in Abu Dhabi, Stranger Things star David Harbour dropped a pretty huge clue as to the Stranger Things Season 5 release date. Here’s the full quote (via Collider):
“We're walking into Season 5. I've got a couple more months to train. We start shooting that in June, though, and that will be the final season. I did a lot of training for season four. He [Hopper] was in a very specific position, that prison. It was about making him a different guy and sort of shedding a layer of himself physically, mentally, and emotionally. But now he's back in town, he's back in America where they have cheeseburgers, so he will be well-fed."
Most of this doesn’t come as a surprise if you’re caught up on Stranger Things Season 4, but the fact that filming will officially begin in June is a pretty big deal. Using that information we can estimate the Season 5 release date by comparing it to previous seasons.
Stranger Things Season 4 started filming in February 2020 and premiered on May 27, 2022. That’s 16 months from shooting to the release date - though a certain event in March 2020 probably pushed the entire thing back.
Looking even further back, Stranger Things Season 3 started filming on April 23, 2018 and was released about 14 months later on July 4, 2019.
14 months seems like a reasonable wait, so let’s go with that. If Stranger Things Season 5 starts filming five weeks from now, that would be mid-April 2023. So by our own math, the release date should be in June 2024.
Of course, there are other factors to consider. Netflix seemingly likes releasing Stranger Things over major holidays, so Season 5 might arrive on July 4, 2024. It’s also possible that production could get slowed down again for some unexpected reason, in which case we might not get new episodes until the fall of next year. Maybe Stranger Things Season 5 will arrive on Labor Day.

However, cameras have yet to start rolling on the show just yet. As mentioned above, Will Byers actor Noah Schnapp has recently hinted that filming will begin soon, however. The 18 year old was taking part in an Instagram Live the other day when he provided fans the update, claiming that the shoot wouldn't interrupt his schooling because they plan to kick off production in May, and that's when the term ends.
Pre-pandemic, each season has typically taken around six to seven months to shoot. Factor in lengthy VFX post-production work and it takes well over a year to complete a season from start to finish. We would therefore estimate that Stranger Things season 5 won't come out until spring 2024 at the very earliest.
Stranger Things season 5 potential release date
Though season 5 is unlikely to land on Netflix for a while, filming kicking off in May 2023 is great news, especially given that fans had to wait three years between season 3 and 4, and it looks like we could see the fifth season land as soon as early 2024.
We also don't yet know what release model the new season will take. Seasons 1 to 3 all released their entire seasons in one go, while season 4 was released in two volumes, with volume 1 containing seven episodes and volume 2 containing two.
Whether season 5 sticks with this new split model we'll have to wait and see.
On the date of the Stranger Things season 4 release, they said that “Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things. At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four, but - as you’ll soon see for yourselves - we are now hurtling toward our finale. Season 4 will be the penultimate season; season 5 will be the last.” So as you can see, the story is ready, and it is expected to be released in 2024, hopefully.
Stranger Things 5 Production Listing Offers Insight Into Filming Start

So the last time we checked in to see what was going on with Ross Duffer & Matt Duffer's Stranger Things, series star David Harbour dropped a big update on the fifth & final season at Middle East Film & Comic Con. During a panel discussion, Harbour shared, "I've got a couple more months to train" for both the Netflix series and his upcoming turn in Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts before adding this about when the final season would begin filming, "We start shooting that in June, though. And that will be the final season." Now, thanks to a weekly production list update, we're getting a clearer picture of when filming will start. In the following screencap, you can see that May 15, 2023, is listed as a shoot date in Atlanta, Georgia. That would be in line with what Harbour mentioned considering that there could easily be preliminary work/filming that needs to be done that wouldn't require Harbour to be available. Here's a look:

I went to the school a few months ago and there was that exact same security lady there who was very strict about where we could stand 😂
I just came from there and a security guard wouldn’t even let us drive in there. Trying to figure out why? Too much vandalism? Or are they prepping for filming soon? I never saw any other cars.. Anyone else have answers?

In Albuquerque New Mexico there’s this place called snow park, and in the ditch is where. They filmed a little part. And my school is right next to it
