    Absolutely used and abused the KM3's on my JLU Rubicon. 42,500 miles when I traded them and the tires still had 8/32nds. Drove cross country twice from VA-Montana and then VA-Utah. Miles and miles of trails mud snow rock crawling moab. Started getting loud around 35k miles but nothing like your video. Had great experiences with Ko2's in the past and hated the KM2's but the km3's made me feel unstoppable off road.

      We actually heard that a lot from jeeps and Tacomas running KO2s and KM3s. I think weight plays a big factor. Raptors are usually 1500 lbs heavier. Mine is at 7000 lbs empty. So weight definitely impacts noise and wear for sure.

    Great video, how have the tires held up? I'm currently running baja boss at tires on my 2014 raptor and I'm really curious how the noise compares to the legend exp. The baja boss at has gotten louder and stiffer over the last 45 thousand miles, a majority street. But were very quiet compared to some Goodyear duratracs i had before. Have you been able to compare road noise between the legend exp and baja boss at?

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad

      They have been very quiet so far. Mine were initially loud but it had more to do with my hubs going out than the tires. Once I got new hubs on the truck, they have been extremely quiet considering the tread. Been really happy with them offroad as well and they lasting really good

      Hmm not sure I believe it after looking up a pic of the tire. Maybe it’s because you’re in a lighter Jeep. As it stands, jeeps have a very loud cabin. Impossible to properly treat because the top is designed to come off. So sounds would carry very differently in a Jeep too.

    • @DeadOnTrail

      Weight definitely matters. I’ve seen KO2s last much longer on lighter Tacomas. But waste away on the heavier f150s. For a Jeep I would definitely deal with the noise to rock crawl those tires. I bet the KM3s have great grip and flex for jeeping

  • @rickeyb450
    @rickeyb450 Год назад +2

    Thanks for the video and I agree, my K02s lost almost all their grip while driving in the rain when I was stationed in Florida. It rained there so much I had to get rid of them ASAP because of the possibility of hydroplaning. Truthfully, the best tire I have ever owned is the Hankook Dynapro AT2 Xtreme. Relatively quiet, smooth on the pavement, plenty of grip while off-roading and sticky in the rain. Also come with a warranty and the tread is wearing slowly. My one knock on them is that they do run a bit narrow as compared to other 12.5s.

      Yeah we mostly hear it from the Midwest guys. Are you Mostly on pavement? What kind of trail you running offroad?
      Here in SoCal and Baja, trails can get pretty rough and they chew up any tire. So the KO2s wear out quick down here. I haven’t don’t much off-roading in the Midwest. What I have hit was just sand and some forest trails that were pretty tame. Nothing like the sand and rocks we see down here.

Have you even considered you got a bad batch of covid tires? Cooper has reported similar poor quality with tires manufactured during this time as well and there are probably more. Check the comments man. Lots of guys having the same issues. Getting tons of pictures too sent to me on IG of guys having similar blow outs and same issues with noice and KO2s wearing out quick.
      It really depends on what you’re running them on. Jeeps and light duty trucks love them. Low noise, great grip and they last. But those running them on full size trucks have a different experience. Then there is the raptor factor where we are running much faster and just have different needs from a tire. The KM3 is just the wrong tire for high speed off-roading.

    That’s crazy. I have KM3s 39x13.5 and have over 40k miles on them. They have been in rain, snow, mud, sand, rock crawling, etc…and I’ve had no problems with them considering the abuse I put them through. Traction has been great especially considering I don’t have lockers. I just finished the Rubicon 2 weeks ago and went up Cadillac Hill in the rain with only LSD in the rear and open diff in the front. They are still pretty quiet on the road. I might run them again, but they have went up in price by about $250 a tire since I purchased them in 2021.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  Год назад +1

      There is the key right there. Based on the tracks you hit in guessing these are on a Jeep or small truck.
      We always hear from you guys that they are great. But you guys are much lighter than the full size trucks by at least 1500lbs or more and some of those rigs don’t hit the speeds we do. Raptors don’t keep grip to crawl, we rarely crawl them. We need the ability to go fast and slide a turn to keep momentum. KM3s grip mid slide unpredictably and have a ton of extra noise with a heavier load. Different offroad requires different tires. KM3s are at home with low pressure climbing rocks and that’s what they are means for. Not prerunning trails at high speeds

Interesting that the Ranger Raptor came spec'd with the K03s (albeit in a smaller size), but not the EcoBoost Raptor F-150 and not the R....that said, I did see a RUclips video earlier today where a guy compared KO3s that came spec'd as original equipment on some vehicles ~1-2 years ago and the ones that are now being released...it seems BFG did a bunch of updates to the tread pattern and siping on the K03. I had a discussion with a BFG rep at the mint 400 last year on them. They had them side by side and yeah. I was not impressed. As he put it, it’s a more street focused ride than the KO2 was. They tried to address the main issue with the KO2 and they wanted them quieter and better wet performance. The KO2 is awful in the rain. So they improved on road performance. Not offroad performance. Its the same compound so they are not going to last and we’ve already seen issues on social with shops having similar issues as the KO2 with balancing the tires and vibrations on the road.

      But have not heard anyone with a Raptor running them and that is my hesitation. Raptors are heavier by at least 1500+ lbs than jeeps. And we’ve seen guys swear by KO2s and KM3s with those lighter vehicles. But the extra weight makes a difference and is Raptor guys have a different experience. Will have to do some research h on the milestar XTs to see if it’s something worth trying in the future

    The one that failed looks like a heat failure, under inflated/overloaded, overspeed, overheated tire core and it seperated/cap-core.. what was your wheel speed playimg in the sand aired down??? Amy tire will fail if overheated or over speeded... 16:16
    the tire you picked is a old dick cepek design with 2ply sidewall, and are known to not take abuse well.... (i live in rock and granite country)
    I have run ko2 and km3 on my land cruisers for many years have a set that have been running in the rocks are 8+ years old, and lots of miles at 20psi in rocks, with 7k lbs on them and they still ballance out with no issues..
    Hope you find a tire that works for you...

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  10 месяцев назад

      I run 28 psi and when this happened I was only going 40 mph.
      Now we do very different off-roading with very different weight vehicles. I do high speed off-roading and run higher pressures display because of the speed. Trucks also can weight up to 7500lbs so we are much heavier and putting different loads on the tires.
      This happened after a slow section on a smooth down hill. Tire should not have failed the way it did. I’ve seen tires completely shred when someone kept running on it. But here the cords stayed connected to the side wall while the side walls split from the tread. Almost like how a retreaded tire would fail and the tread rip off.
      Now your off-roading is very different. Your typically going much much slower and running much lower presssure. The KM3 shines in the slow stuff and rocks. But for high speed off-roading, it’s awful.

      Last time I checked they were a completely different company.

    Bfg is not a good brand. I had ko2s and they were a complete nightmare.

      Yeah. I’ve had the same experience. Every KO2 I’ve had wore out way too quickly. And I was not happy with my experience with the KM3s

    Toyo RTs have some of the worst wet/snow reviews though.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  Год назад

      We did talk about that. In the wet they do better than the KO2s. But we hear a lot that RTs suck in the snow. We don’t get much snow here. For trail riding, the RTs is the better tire. If you live in drier climates like the southwest, the RTs is the better tire. But if you get a lot of snow, it’s not a great tire for you.

      @@KeepItDirtyOffRoad oh I know, I did watch all of your video. I just remember when tire shopping and comparing the ridge grappler and RT, their main similarity was the “bad” wet and snow performance in a majority of the reviews

    Imagine driving a truck with off road tires and noise being a concern or complaint. Shouldn't even be factored into offroad performance. Buy highway tires if noise in a concern lol

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  2 месяца назад

      🤣🤣 in the real world it is. Some of us drive these trucks on the road too. Many daily their trucks. We not trailing these trucks between trails. We using them to their full potential and noise matters. It may not matter to you. But imaging being delusional enough to think everyone thinks like you do.

      @@KeepItDirtyOffRoad it was a comment to your video, nothing personal my man. I've driven on every mud tire out there. I don't trailer to the trail myself but if noise was a concern I wouldn't be driving a truck, let alone on mud tires.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad

      See for these kind of trucks, those that go fast offroad, a mud tire just sucks. Fast off-roading is better suited with AT or Hybrid tread tires. You look at race tires for TTs and all that they are closer to a hybrid tread as well. It’s what works best for this kind of off-roading and those tires are very quiet. This is my first mud tire on this truck and it sucked. Grip was inconsistent and they sucked so bad in the sand. Mud tires are better suited for the rocks. Not of a prerunner.

      @@KeepItDirtyOffRoad totally agree with you there. I'm more in the hardcore 4x4 wheeler scene, none of use are flying through the desert at 60+mph lol. I've always kept my rigs streetable but some don't. My only concern is traction and high floatation. Different tires for different needs. Been working on trucks for over a decade professionally. I have driven on them all.

      Exactly and well said. There are tires for each kind of off-roading. Got to use the right tool for the job at hand.

      @@KeepItDirtyOffRoad REALLY???
      LOVE your F'N VIDEOS. whoops cap lock was on#@&!
      I was stuck with a 06 f150. Perfect condition from Texas. Could not sell it..seriously. Without knowing raptors existed ...I went at converting my truck Into a cool street 4 wheeler. I spent 5 months. And hundreds of hours; searching for merchandise and how to remove existing shit and Install new.
      6" R.C. coil over suspension.
      Fiberwerx gen. 1 RAPTOR front fenders.
      37" Faulkner AT tires. Quite..like silk!!
      N-FAB front bumper w/4-7" HELAX round lamps.
      Exhaust cut out..adds 20hp
      Rollers followers, VCT solenoids, phasers, timing chains, tensioners, guides, steering pump, spark plugs, high velocity oil pump all replaced.
      S&B cool air concealed intake
      ARIES 2 step electric running boards..nothing like it on the market
      LED exhaust tip...simulates flames exiting exhaust
      LED side markers on flairs and front fenders
      LED FORD front and rear emblems.
      PA system CB DASH/MOBILE system. Rear ranch hand cab protector w/side rails. Lanoleum rust proofed...super cool product!!
      Double din front dash cam rear camera system.
      I f'n painted the rear flairs and front fenders to match the truck exterior. I think I spent $15,000 on parts. Engine was $5,000 in parts. I had no prior experience working on trucks.
      I am breaking in engine now. Truck runs smooth as silk on pavement. It's a one of a kind 06 F150. I admit the superiority of the raptor trucks. My truck on the trails you run. It would leave half the parts flying in the air...I'd probably end up on my roof. So; I absolutely know its limitations.
      Yes; I would have loved a raptor to make better. It just wasn't meant to be.
      I wish you many years of 4 wheel truck excitement.
      Keep the faith!!!!
