Elliot Smith was a musical genius of the higest caliper and that is not an exageration but the truth. These kind of overgifted players don't need to focus on any particular technique, they just play as they feel. There are no shortcuts to achieve the musicsl exellence of Elliot Smith
If you don’t have nails, just turn the volume up on your amp, mic or whatever and gently do it with your finger tips. It actually sounds nicer too in my personal opinion, like less sharp. I’m pretty sure Elliott did it without nails from the way it sounds when he plays it.
Nice, hadn't heard that intro before. Although the classical piece you use as an example does not feature a tremolo anywhere in the piece. The portion of Asturias you display are repeated arpeggios (on different strings). Real examples of tremolo in classical guitar: Recuerdos de la Alhambra, Una Limosna Por El Amor De Dios.
u@@finestcustard5647 it is, but the way u use ur thumb and the other 1-2-3 fingers is very similar, i didn't mean it was exactly the same it was just a bit similar. different folks use different variations. but you watch townes van zandt play, elliott and or justin townes earle they use travis picking alot but different at the the same time.
Elliott: "I used to listen to Flamenco a lot. I used to try and play it but ended up with a bastardized version of it." ("Tomorrow Tomorrow")
• I’m seriously blown away-great job!

I love this, thank you!!

Looks like @musicswede is going from B into Em/B at the beginning, or not? On the live recording it's hard to hear because of all the applauds :)
thanks! great video
Anyway to show this a bit clearer? Like the shapes weren’t visible at the end.
Thanks for the video never took notice of this intro until now

Merci for this quite pedagogical video. 🙏✨
Thanks dude!!

Yeah but I was too stoned to explain it. I did my best.
As an excuse, that is quite clearly the winner. I need to remember that the next time my wife tells me I forgot our anniversary.
@@musicswede1 LOL
Classical guitarists will call it all right hand tremolo
@@musicswede1u were high as fuuuuuuuuck! Ahaha

damn that's pretty. nice video
elliott smith never had nails btw. he always chewed them off
Well, I guess I’ll be that guy… “Can we get some tabs?“ 🙏-sincerely, “That Guy”
it's kinda like travis picking right? justin townes van zandt etc? old folkis/country finger picking?
I thought Travis picking was more like the intro to angeles?

Nails aren't gross! They are amazing tools and they don't need to be as long as people think!
