However, no-one did because he was with his family. On his way out he walked through the bar and shook some hands (including mine) and told the bartender "no-one's glass goes empty for the rest of the night." Best night of my life.
I saw Polamalu (hair tucked up inside a beanie) in a Giant Eagle around February 2010 --- he paid for some old lady's entire grocery bill --- she was crying she was so happy

ryan peace Completely Agree Ed reed was good but he had Ray Lewis. Palamolu was in a breed of his own. Who can remember a player that changed the game after the game has been around for 90 years. I’ve never seen anyone jump a line like he does. Could you imagine being on the receiving end of him jumping the line? That’s so insulting and demoralizing to an offense. You can’t even drop back after hiking the ball before I’m over the line and in your face. I’m a cowboys fan and he’s my favorite defensive player behind dick night train lane. Agreed. I feel like him and Reed are both amazing to their respective positions. But if we are comparing, Troy always made plays when they needed to be made.
I know I specifically remember watching games during his career and whenever the other team had the ball late in the 4th in a position to have a game winning drive I always said its polamalu time. In the 2008 AFC championship I said all we need is polamalu to intercept it now and on that very drive he did. Most clutch player ever on defense imo

As a Pats fan I think Polamalu is better than Reed. Reed is amazing but his job was made easier by having Ray Lewis as his linebacker letting him be a center fielder. Polamalu played everywhere and impacted the game in so many different ways. Had Polamalu played with Ray Lewis that would've been scary.
It's hard to compare the two, Reed was a FS and Troy was a SS they have two completely different jobs, Reed was suppose to be the guy deep to stop anything long and help the CBs, however SS are sometimes considered and extra linebacker and are more the blitzing and run stoppers, plus Steelers at that time and still somewhat today ran a heavy zone blitz scheme which put Troy at the point of attack going after the QB most plays. Troy also had Harrison and worilds as his linebackers and both were extremely good at their job
Even if he was a horrible player in college, even though the only bad play I have ever seen is hitting the guy trying to fair catch, you can look at his NFL career and realize that he was perfectly fair. plus, lets go beyond football, what about all of the charities he has donated to? I guess that means nothing?
You can debate who the greatest safety ever was, but I think it's safe to say that nobody ever played it the way that Troy did -- a complete original both on and off the field.
Shore Yote Ed Reed was a different type of safety. But I do see what you mean. Ed Reed was a coverage safety who revolutionized deep coverage tactics for DB’s as a whole. Polamalu was good in deep coverage, but excelled more so at covering receivers and tight ends within 15 yards (at least for a safety). As a Giants fan, we’ve never had a SAFETY even close to a Troy or Ed, but both ultimately revolutionized the game in their own way.
The most incredible thing about Troy was his otherworldly ability to always be exactly where the ball was going...regardless of the formation the offense was in. He was the most intelligent player I have ever seen, and an amazing person. I can't wait until he is selected for the HOF.

Troy was one of the main reasons I would watch every Steelers game. It was a breath of fresh to see his humility in spite of his great talent. It is very rare in the NFL.
This must be the shortened version. I just saw a tribute on RUclips TV that had some insane tackles where he closes gaps as if the footage was sped up.
The fact that Polamalu had all the other players scared when he walked onto the field and all the coaches yelled warnings when he was in play! And yet the entire league has nothing but love and respect for him! He truly is one of a kind.
Lol ya'll dont know this works huh? Once a player retires the NFL doesn't own the rights of the player which in turn means Madden doesn't have the rights. In order for the retired player to be in the game EA has to go out and buy his rights from him. Some players just dont wanna give their rights, hence Polamalu, Peyton manning, Terrelle Owens etc who haven't been in the game since they retired. So unless EA goes out and throws but load of cash at him (which is vary unlikely because of how notoriously cheap they are) then don't expect to ever see him in Madden.
I get chills watching this being from PA watching almost every single one of the steeler games during his career I know how dominant he really was. Every game you could count on him to make a play, if they needed a stop u could count on him. Been a diehard football fan 50 years, I'm a ravens fan, troy is the best player I ever watched play, troy could cover any receiver one on one, when he blitzed no rb or te could begin to block him, he disguised what he was doing better than anybody, he never missed a tackle, he played with a tenacity and heart like very few, he practiced and showed up every day like a true champion/captain. Nobody ever in my 50 years of watching has brought all thought to the game. P.s whoever didnt put palamalu in the top 100 players list should have every credential to vote or write anything to do with football taken. Troy was a certified bonified badass.

Agree. Just like Ed reed is the best free safety and ray ray the best inside linebacker I’ve ever watched
Troy was one of the main reasons I would watch every Steelers game. It was a breath of fresh to see his humility in spite of his great talent. It is very rare in the NFL.
Same af ❤️
Too many interception highlights, not enough of his incredible tackling.
thats what makes him a legend. theres more
This must be the shortened version.
I def gotta throw my Polamalu jersey on today. You don't realize how important somebody really is to a team until they're gone.
Ain't that the truth, brother!!!
Omega Man I seriously miss him. But I’m glad he’s doing what he loves now, and he deserves it. He’s given our team so much. He’ll go down in history
#truth he will be missed as a steeler
Not to be rude, im also a steeler fan, but this is when Ben was good.
Noah Benner Agreed. Ben needs to go. Love the guy, he’s also a very famous Steeler, but he’s lost it.
This man was the reason I watched the NFL
Really his definitely one of mine too lol
Even more than a great athlete, this is a man that is humble and greatful. Pretty much who we all need to strive to be. Humble and greatful folks.
My favorite player of all time
Shocking. Wouldve never guessed.
Pat Tillman
yea me too
DB He's a class act.Hines Ward was TO.
My favorite person on defense ever to live
on offense is ab,leveon,,ben and juju lol
We need more players like Polumalu competitive and that doesn’t have a high ego
That's gonna be difficult to find. Troy was truly special to watch. Went out like an honored warrior with not like a scandalous diva.
He could’ve had a nice talk to Antonio Brown
And EA still wont give him a card in madden smh
Air Extreme fr
Wtf why
They don't have the rights to him anymore lmao
Lol ya'll dont know this works huh? Once a player retires the NFL doesn't own the rights of the player which in turn means Madden doesn't have the rights. In order for the retired player to be in the game EA has to go out and buy his rights from him. Some players just dont wanna give their rights, hence Polamalu, Peyton manning, Terrelle Owens etc who haven't been in the game since they retired. So unless EA goes out and throws but load of cash at him (which is vary unlikely because of how notoriously cheap they are) then don't expect to ever see him in Madden.
Air Extreme fuck EA rs
I get chills watching this being from PA watching almost every single one of the steeler games during his career I know how dominant he really was. Every game you could count on him to make a play, if they needed a stop u could count on him. Ive seen him change the course of entire games based off the plays he made, dude was really special and one of the reasons i fell in love with football. I’ll always have love for Polamalu
Thank you Troy you will always be a Legend sir. One of the greatest to ever touch the ball!!!
Troy is def one of my favorite steelers of all time. Im only 31 and i know there were alot of great players for the steelers over all the years but Troy is a special guy and how can you not love his personality.
troy is my fav steeler always has been he was a big part of my childhood man
I’m so thankful for being able to watch Troy Polamalu. Such a great player.
The nicest, sweetest, most kind hearted killer the NFL has ever seen. Absolute beast. It was truly an honor to watch him play because you never knew when it would come, but you knew it would at some point
Dude is like an Orca?
I miss watching this guy. Him and Hines and Brett and Heath
Just smile- Beavers classic
You’re gonna make me cry
Just Beavers I agree with you. My favorite players
Those were my DUDES! Goddamn I miss watching them every Sunday making magic
Man, that's going back a while... I miss that era of Steeler football.
I met Troy at the North Hills Home Depot, and I said to him, because I wasn''t sure it was him at first, you look just like Troy Polamalu. I told him that he was my favorite, and it was a pleasure watching him. He actually took the time to talk to me. What a great guy on and off the field.
my daughter went to school with one of his nieces in Utah great family
That's awesome.
Weird. My dad also saw him at the same Home Depot last summer as well😂
@@MastersOfAll7581 He must do a lot of work on his house.
I love Troy, his play, highlights and I love how softly he speaks.
Who is here after it's announced that Troy is being inducted into the Hall
bomplete I am!
He played in the c gap
He deserves it honestly, dude was a beast
You know what I’m not even mad he didn’t make that NFL 100 list. He’s so much better than everyone else on that list it’s not even a fair comparison.
That top 100 was bogus left out Troy, AP and LT.
isaiah anderson LT?
@@shinto7312 ladanian tomlinson
frank gore should of been on that list too not some of those FB from the 30s. All they did was be over 6 foot. I could give a shit about the 9ers or colts but frank should and probably will be in HOF before he retires. I got tons of respect for someone like him
@@TheNamezZ not to mention Charles Woodson, TO, Shannon Sharpe, and Drew Brees. The list is bullshit.
Lol Polamalu is the reason nobody can't jump over the Oline anymore
calvin5041 true lol

Titus Teo Fui he corrected him with can because Calvin said "nobody can't".. Meaning everyone can. Nobody can* is right.
Nathan Rumbles got you dawg.
Nathan Rumbles Can't I guess you never heard of the Leaping penalty
As a canadian, never was really exposed to the
NFL muchat all...I remember watching a game on TV one afternoon and there's Troy just everywhere making plays! I can honestly say I've been an NFL fan since then. He's totally the reason I began watching football. Such a smart, hardworking, humble player. Truly enjoyed his HOF induction.
I miss Troy he is for sure one of the best SS of all time
Mr. Polamalu is one of my football heroes. Not only was he a magnificent player, he set a wonderful example for his young fans. He was a credit to his community and no hint of scandal ever came near him. Congratulations , sir. You elevated the game.
Is no one taling about his soothing voice
Killer tho 😂 Talking to some the former USC assistant coaches n they brought up a story when he was at SC they heard his voice and they were like yeah I’m running dude over and when they lined them offensive players up vs Troy all the heard was a Smacccckk Smmmaack Smaccck n they got the memo from on they had a Junior Seau type of player just smaller, shorter, n Faster
Sounds like Michael Jackson almost
Such a special and exemplary player. I don't think we'll ever see another player like him in ability, athleticism, creativity, instinct, selflessness, and character. Boy was he fun to watch!!!
Troy was one of the greatest players to ever grace the NFL. He was a true difference maker and was one of the most humble people to suit up. I literally got goosebumps and a tear in my eye watching these highlights. He was truly a remarkable player.
#HOF19
Give him that gold jacket! HOF FIRST Ballot 2019!! CCCHHHHEEEEEEEE HEEEEEEE!!🤙🤙 #STEELERNATION
Hes not eligible until 2020
William Stephenson he's so good that the HOF committee will brake their own rules an just give him a place in Canton Ohio😂
This hair will get its own Gold Jacket.
He could really play football - an ATG.
2020*
The catch shouldn’t be Odell it should be called Polamalu
Idk what you're talking bout it's called a moss
Odell is a one handed jumping catch polumalu is a jumping really high catch and moss is a catch while jumping and being double covered
The Catch isnt any of these . Its Dwight Clark from the real GOAT .
Lukie Boyd so true
King OfSunnyvale dwight clarks catch was just an ordinary catch lmao. I could make that catch anyday. Its just the situation that made that catch special
Ferocious on the field, humble off the field! Love coming back to videos like this
I used to love watching him run after a pick or fumble too. He ran with such recklessness it was so fun to watch. Like a true Tasmanian Devil haha
In my opinion the best safety to ever play. And honestly he could have played any position he wanted.
😭
It's kinda funny I was thinking while watching this that this guy could of played both ways maybe a RB on offense.
im a Patriots fan and this dude is one of my favorite players of all time... Hall of Famer hands down anyone disagree holla at me
I'm a die hard Steelers fan. I absolutely loathe the patriots. I hate them with a passion more than any other team. That being said I respect fans like you that can recognize talent even if it's from a rival team. As much as I hate the patriots I would be a fool not to recognize Tom Brady as one of greatest quarterbacks to ever set foot on a field. I'm glad there are more football fans like myself where even if they hate a team, they can respect individual talent and give credit where it's due. Much respect man.
@@USDS_TikTok_Mike ima packers fan and hate both the steelers and pats but I agree with both yall

Coming from a Ravens fan, I have so much respect for Troy as a man and a football player. One of the nicest people outside of the game and one of the best in the game💯🐐
The best in the game at his position!

My absolute favorite player of all time (and I’m not a Steelers fan)
I wish guys like Troy could play forever.
#ONME YOU MY BOY TROY!!!
Me too
It is like ballet for men
The fact that I forgot he played safety, cause he was everywhere on the field making big plays
A soft spoken beast.
Im a saints fan and polomalu is my favorite safety of all time
The Ezpless lol Marcus Williams just got in the nfl and he’s good but Polamalu is elite and he would never have did what Williams did in the playoffs as a rookie
calvin5041 fuck the sorry ass saints
Im a 49er fan and i agree
The Ezpless No but Marcus Williams is a Vikings fan favorite safety though.
calvin5041 watch my Drew Brees mix on my channel
This dude gave me two weeks of sleepless nights before the Green Bay Packers faced him in the 2010 Super Bowl, one of the best safeties of all time. My favorite Steeler tbh

I have an incredible adoration for Troy Polamalu, both his ability and his character. How does one not look up to this man?
It was an honor hanging out with him for a day at a local camp. He’s my favorite player in football history and I tear up watching these. But if y’all think NFL Troy was scary, y’all should have seen his USC days 😳 he was sacking, returning interceptions, laying devastating hits, AND blocking punts!! He was CRAZY
Troy Polamalu is awesome... The Best Strong Safety in NFL History
I remember being 6 years old and seeing Troy play and he changed my life forever. After that game I became a big Steelers fan and he will always be my favorite player
Growing up and still living in Pittsburgh obviously a steeler fan, I really miss watching him play but also feel extremely lucky I was able to witness these things first hand. Thank you Troy!!
you can really tell his background and upbringing through his football. Be humbled, be focused, be spiritual. Anyone feel like he was talking about the football field like it was a game of chess and a yoga class all in one???
Amazing mind
Thanks for making this! I've always said Troy Polamalu's highlight reel will be the best of any player of all time. I think this video proves it.
Troy Polamalu was a game changer i hope he gets in the HOF
Mix Master lol
When I think about Troy he is just a special player. The things he did just at times seemed impossible. What a gem the Steelers were blessed to have. On the field, off the field just one special guy.
