I LOVE Stevie Ray Vaughan, and I have since I first heard him in1984, saw him live in Davenport Iowa in 85. When you started this video, I got the same chills he made on my skin all those years ago.🥰😍❤💙
Hey Jordan, I posted on your channel before about SRV. I started watching your channel years ago when I was looking up my neighborhood I was living at in West Hollywood off the strip! This video was a great video but a hard one to watch. Being a huge SRV fan as a kid and him having a huge impact on my guitar playing and just life in general. I remember hearing the devastating news just like yesterday! I don’t know if anyone remembers but for a good while there were conflicting reports of who and who wasn’t on board on that helicopter. First they said on board were SRV, his band , Eric Clapton, Robert Cray. Which was mind blowing for me because I just met Robert Cray the week before at one of his concerts. I met him by his tour bus and he could not have been nicer! Then the news finally came out, and it was confirmed and I just remember being in shock and going home and just sleeping through the night hoping it was just a bad dream! I was so devastated by SRV’s death that following year, I found out they were building a statue to honor him and fans could donate money to help build it in his honor! So I had to contribute, no question! Now mind you, I did not have a lot of money and I was only a teenager. I sold one of my guitars that I was not playing and sent a money order of $250 dollars to his statue. I remember a lot of friends who were not musicians did not understand and thought I was nuts and thought I was stupid and thought it was probably a scam. But it wasn’t, at all! Months later I got a personal letter from Jimmy Vaughan and Stevie’e mother thanking me for my donation and personally signed by Jimmy and Stevie’e mother. Then I would get updates on the statue building process. When it was finally built, I actually received a letter from Stevie’s estate inviting me to come to the official unveiling of the statue. I could not make it because I was still so young and it was going to happen in weeks and back then flights were insane prices at that much last minute and I just could not afford it. But I have the letter from the family still today framed. And when I always see that statue it makes me so proud and happy I was able to contribute to it! Rest In Peace Stevie Ray Vaughan.
I have been waiting for you to do this! Stevie was such a kind soul. His childhood was difficult, especially his relationship with his father. He overcame the drugs & booze and then helped others do the same. He was truly a kind & humble man. Heaven got a good one when they got Stevie. Thanks for doing this!
RIP SRV 🙏🎶🎸. Hey Jordan, quick story you’ll dig I think….. While living in Austin in 95’, I was 18 doing tree trimming. And went to a house early in morning to work. When we pulled up and turned the truck off, I heard guitar playing coming from a garage with the door open halfway. As I walked around the house, I passed up garbage cans with the name Vaughan on them. A few hours later the homeowner came out to talk with us, he came out in all black clothes with his hair greased back. IT WAS JIMMY VAUGHAN!!! I’ll never forget the day I met and got to listen to him playing guitar.
Around 1975 we used to go to at the “Electric ballroom” in Dallas. Sunday night was .25 beer night. A lot of locals would showcase their talent and Stevie Ray was there one that. In between sets I took him a beer and he handed me his guitar pic. He wasn’t known back then. A few quarters later I stumble out and lose that guitar pic before I get to my car. The biggest regret of my life to this day.
@@SJKLR99 You are so right. I smoke so much weed between now and then you would think my mind would be foggy and to a certain extent it is, but I remember that like it was yesterday. God bless the 70s. Simple times

Stevies rendition of voodoo Chile/child at the greek in '89 was jaw dropping. I have never heard a better cover of that song from another player/singer to this day. A true inspiration. And I don't know who was responsible for the sound board that night but they're really good at their job. I'll never say one player is the best or better then another, merely due to the fact that players are like flavors and ingredients. Everyone's got their favs. He is, however, a pioneer and a true gunslinger. He's one of the most iconic to pick the instrument up, bar none.
Thanks Jordan. I love Stevie Ray. He is one of the greatest guitar player along with Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page. I could listen to their music all day in fact if I'm in a funky mood I will put on their music and it snaps me out of my mood. Stevie Ray and Hendrix died way too young.
As I type to you now, I've never heard this guy play. Am not as purely connected to bands/music industry as you. However, with your usual heartfelt, tender, comprehensive, and vital tribute, I am intrigued enough now to want to go and listen to such a *natural. Life is so mysterious. Not sure what a pure victory is, nor a tragedy. However briefly, lovely Steve lived his inspiration. Thank you, Jordan.

Great vlog Jordan Stevie Ray Vaughan One Of my younger brothers favorite singers i was working at a record store for school credit my brother showed me 'Stevie Ray Vaughan" my he RIP
Thanks for making this video. I grew up in Dallas Texas and visited SRV’s gravesite many times. That area of Dallas is called Oak Cliff my grandmother and grandfather lived less then a mile away from his childhood home.
I have a friend that grew up with the Vaughans in Oak Cliff. She was close to Stevie’s age. She told me Stevie and his friends had put together a band when they were little and would round up the neighborhood kids for an audience for a garage concert. She said they were not real good yet but they neighborhood kids liked him and gave him encouragement.
Stevie was well known and very much loved by all here in Austin. It was nothing for him to just walk in a club and get on the stage and play for hours inprompto. RIP Stevie.
One of the top 5 blues guitar players . Thank you Jordan , great job . Thanks for the tour . People try to copy Stevie., but there was only one Stevie Ray Vaughan. I have been playing guitar for over 40 years .
Wonderful tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughn. So glad you have the same musical taste, love of music and history that I do Jordan. No one can make the musical impact that SRV did in such a short time.
The greatest boss I ever had is a musician and friends with Stevie Ray Vaughan, the day he died Stan came to the stores to give us our paychecks and never spoke a word, when he opened his mouth he cried and broke my heart, needless to say a very bad day for all of us RIP Stevie, gone but will never be forgotten😿🤗🥰
Thank you, Jordan and Jah !! I so wish I could have seen you both when you were near here! I can’t thank you both enough for the joy you give me and my four chihuahuas !!!
Great vlog Jordan! SRV has always been one of my favorite guitar players, and you did a tremendous job on paying respect to him, along with sharing your love for his music! He died way too young, and makes me wonder how good he would have been if he didnt pass away too young. His music stands out above all others.
I saw Stevie at the Greek in ‘89, his rendition of Jimi’s Voodoo Child sent chills down my spine, just jaw dropping. SRV was not only a great musician, but an outstanding person as well. RIP and thanks for the vlog Jordan ✌️
Thank you Jordan for doing this. I LOVE Stevie Ray Vaughan. He was an incredible talent and a kind and humble man. He helped so many people find sobriety and was always there for them. They must have recently cleared off his grave because it usually has many more flowers and tributes. Can't wait to visit his final resting place myself someday and pay my respects to this wonderful man....
SRV the greatest guitarist of all time! We visited Stevie's resting place in October 2018 along with seeing the bronze sculpture of him in Austin after attending the ACL three day music festival. I have one of Stevies guitar picks I cherish along with a original Eric Clapton/Alpine Valley tour patch given out to a select few. RIP SRV. ❤ We miss you.
I’m normally a quiet emotionless person. Just never had the ability to express them. At least not adaptively. I went and visited SRV’s grave years ago. All of a sudden I broke down and cried for the 1st time in years. Stevie will always have a place on my playlist.
RIP Stevie! Such a great guitar player! Cold Shot,Tin Pan Alley, Dirty Pool. Great songs. Never get old. Can You imagine being there watch him playing for 6 hours? Gold... Glad to see you made it to see Stevie's final resting spot Jordan, taking us along. Thank You.
I loved Stevie Ray Vaughan's music. I think Stevie Ray Vaughan walks with the gods of musicians. I was so sad when he got killed in that helicopter crash in Alpine Valley. Another wonderful job on the vlog, thank you for showing his grave and his home.
The first time I saw Stevie play I was blown away, sat mesmerized. Picturing him walking on the porch of that home is wild. I've long been a proponent that schools and parents need to pay attention to what a kids interests are and support it. Schools are geared to make everyone the same and squash a persons natural abilities and interests. Except sports though, schools and parents push kids to sports even if the kid hates it.
Little info if of any interest. I went to high school with him. 1year younger. At lunch time we would all gather on the tennis courts and pitch quarters and smoke (both items) Hell of a time at Kimball high School in the early 70s
Thank you for the video. Loved SRVs music. SRV was my introduction to the Blues. Stevie's cover of The sky is crying made me appreciate Elmore James even more. Discovered so many blues artists because of Stevie.
Very respectful and interesting vlog. I hadn’t thought about SRV since his death. Loved your emotional- memory making hat. What a cool way to remember artists who made an impact on you. Thanks again for a memorable and respectful vlog.
I really enjoyed this Jordan.....Stevie's resting place looks alot different then when I visited 4 months after the accident ...I got to see him 5 times...so sad when he passed...nice to see his childhood home....Great Vlog !...Thank you...
I agree! He is one of the greatest. I have always been a huge fan too. I remember hearing of the accident that took Stevie from us. Wow, I don't really think I ever got over his death. Thank you Jordan. So tastefully you made this vlog.
I am proud to say I had the honor and privilege of seeing him at Steamboat in Austin, Tx in 1986. I was 14 y.o. but my dad knew the owner, therefore, I was allowed in. I had no interest in being there, but after seeing him I was mesmerized by his skills. It changed my whole perspective on the choice of music I listened to after that night. He changed my life.
Remember when news of the crash became public and there was uncertainty if Eric Clapton was on board because some of the victims were members of his band or so it was thought. Very sad day
I am SO HAPPY to see you visited the resting place of this brilliant artist. I truly loved Stevie. I’ve wanted to go and visit this cemetery but haven’t been able to.

I first heard from Stevie he played Voodoo Child of Jimmy Hendrix. It totally excited me and blew me away .. I heard it on the radio and had to call in to find out who that was.. totally My favorite musical guy!!
I still remember hearing the breaking news announcement of his passing. Heartbreaking. I never got to see him play but was able to see Jimmy play live and jam with Eric Clapton.
@13.32 Eric Clapton had to go to the morgue to identify Stevie and his Road managers remains. This was a year before Eric son died. I remember watching the big SRV tribute gig they did in the mid 90's. When Eric first hear of SRV he said "I have to find out before the day is out, who that guitarist is!"
You know that was amazing! You did a spot on job! Appreciate the research you put into your posts Ty, SRV was the Best! So sad. I enjoyed this one immensely my friend! Cheers. ✌🏼👍🏼
Very well done as always, Jordan. SRV was the greatest blues guitarist of the past half-century, and is somehow still underappreciated. I remember hearing news of his death on the radio while I was at cross-country practice at the beginning of 11th grade. The DJ played "The Sky is Crying" and it was impossible to believe. Still is. Thank you for this vlog.
One of the greatest guitarists of all time. My husband introduced me to his music. We would have loved to have gone to one of his live concerts. John Lennon of the Beatles was a die hard fan and is shown in a pix wearing a Stevie Ray Vaughan T shirt. Thanks Jordan for this touching tribute. ❤️🙏🏻
That's so cool about John Lennon being a Stevie fan! It's great hearing about other people in the music world as well as other celebrities in general who appreciate and love Stevie. :)
Ah, love me some Stevie Ray! Not much on other blues performers, but something with him just gets to me, I love it! His sound is unique, it just kind of speaks to me. It had surprised me that Jimmie was with the Fabulous Thunderbirds. Hard to believe he is 70 now. Stevie Ray would've been great now, he had some good music. RIP to a legend!
Wisconsin connection and tour deaths. Stevie Ray died there in plane crash, Otis Redding also died in a plane crash there (near Madison), and although Buddy Holly's plane didn't crash there, his tour the Dance Party Tour started in Milwaukee.
I normally don't leave cements on vlogs This vlog hit home .my older brother an I saw Stevie ray Vaughan at his last concert at Alpine valley here on Wisconsin .after that concert the helicopter crashed outside east Troy , Wisconsin on the way back to Chicago That you very much for sharing this volg
Fun fact- Stevie first heard Jimi Hendrix because Jimmie found it in the trash behind a radio station in Dallas. At the time, it wasn't the "top 40" that was playing on the radio, so they threw put albums. Can you imagine?????
Hello Jordan this was a great video today and thank you for sharing his story and he sounds like an awesome guitar player, We got a shot of sleeping pup jah it was nice seeing him relaxing and Jordan the sunglasses were looking great.
Gosh, this was really tough to watch. I’ve been waiting for you to do this Vlog since Tony and I became Lyon Hearts almost 4 years ago. I remember exactly where I was the day I heard Stevie Ray had died and for me that was the day the music died. Stevie played with pure soul and no one can make a guitar cry quite like Stevie Ray . I don’t think I’ve cried that much in one of your Vlogs in a long time actually since you went to Waylon‘s grave with your guitar and played for Waylon . what a beautiful Vlog that was Jordan thank you for taking the time to do SRV💔💕
Jimmie ran away from home and joined the Chessmen which was not a blues group it was more of a teen scene mid 60s group .....was no blues scene yet in that era circa 1967 68 ......just to clarify
💋SRV is one of my favorites! I absolutely love the Blues! He had a sound and style like no one else. He could make a guitar talk that’s for sure. Thank you Jordan! Blessings to you and Jah. ~Love&Light♥️Carli
Your vlogs are so amazing. I didn't know much about Stevie Ray Vaughan but after hearing you talking about him I sure am going to find out more. There are times when I'm not really sure I would like the content of the vlog but I start watching it anyway. I find myself really entertained and learning something new. You are born to do something like this
I always liked Stevie Ray Vaughn's music. My grandson was born 8/25/90 and I heard the news that Stevie had died in the car when I picked up my daughter and new grandson from the hospital.
An awful, awful accident. Such a great loss to us, lovers of his music. I remember watching him on "Austin City Limits" years ago and was amazed at his intensity. It's like the music in his head and his heart and his stomach came out through his fingers and he played that guitar within an inch of its life. The result was sheer beauty.
I was with Stevie Ray Vaughan from the album, "Couldn't Stand The Weather." They actually played "Cold Shot" on MTV. It was such a shock when SRV died in 1990.
Aw mate,so glad you did this,SRV was unbelievable,he is sadly missed,in fact I,m gonna watch live at the El Mocambo right now, thank you so much for this ❤️❤️🎸🎸 R.I.P. Stevie Ray 💔💔
Thanks for this video. I am visiting Dallas when I in USA next year. I will go pay my respects to SRV at this cemetery. Not sure if anyone mentioned below, I scrolled thru many comments but gave up. I remember hearing news of his death on the radio while I was at cross-country practice at the beginning of 11th grade. The DJ played "The Sky is Crying" and it was impossible to believe. Still is. Thank you for this vlog.
It also took me a little bit to find Stevie's grave when I first visited. Laurel Land is gigantic.
Got to see SRV 1986 or 85 Fayetteville NC what a talent I Remember exactly where I was when I heard about the helicopter crash 🙏🤟🏻
I was 20 and had just bought "In Step" then he died. Shock.
I live in Milwaukee and work near where he died. Sad times.
I normally don't leave cements on vlogs
This vlog hit home .my older brother an I saw Stevie ray Vaughan at his last concert at Alpine valley here on Wisconsin .after that concert the helicopter crashed outside east Troy , Wisconsin on the way back to Chicago
That you very much for sharing this volg
Great tribute, so very nice, I love what you do with your Cowboy hat.. SRV 🎸
Don't ever get on a helicopter
❤️🌹
Fun fact- Stevie first heard Jimi Hendrix because Jimmie found it in the trash behind a radio station in Dallas. At the time, it wasn't the "top 40" that was playing on the radio, so they threw put albums. Can you imagine?????
Caught in a Crossfire
Awesome vlog. R.I.P. SRV.
Hello Jordan this was a great video today and thank you for sharing his story and he sounds like an awesome guitar player, We got a shot of sleeping pup jah it was nice seeing him relaxing and Jordan the sunglasses were looking great.
Real nice.
🤘♥️🤘
Hello everyone. Stevie Ray was another Texas treasure. Thanks Jordan.
@Daze with Jordan The Lion I noticed Stevie and his Dad died on the same day. 🥺 Crazy. Great vlog Thank you
Yeah I talked about that a little bit in the vlog
@@DazewithJordantheLion it's so sad I've been a fan of Stevie's since I was very young. I just love his music
@@DazewithJordantheLion I've had to have two dangerous surgeries , I apologize if I didn't hear you mention that.
Thank you Jordan! Will pass your great report on.
Terrific Vlog. A great tribute and really well researched. Your admiration of Stevie Ray Vaughan really shines thru. Many Thanks
Jimmie ran away from home and joined the Chessmen which was not a blues group it was more of a teen scene mid 60s group .....was no blues scene yet in that era circa 1967 68 ......just to clarify
Have to watch video where a string breaks and he doesn't miss a note!
You are born to do something like this
SRV was unbelievable mate,1 of the best guitarists ever, never tire of watching & listening to him R.I.P. Stevie Ray 💔💔
I always liked Stevie Ray Vaughn's music. My grandson was born 8/25/90 and I heard the news that Stevie had died in the car when I picked up my daughter and new grandson from the hospital.
My old boss used to be in a band with SRV. I got to see old photos and newspaper clippings from back in the day. Really cool.
That's the one where he broke the stings while playing, switched guitars in mid song, and never missed a beat
I have The Essential Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble CD. Great songs.
The Great Stevie Ray ..Gone to soon .🌹🙏
The 59 Strat he called "Lenny" is buried with him I believe.
New subscriber. I got a lot to catch up on and research on my trip. Take care on your travels.
