I am guessing much of what Beksiński is describing as his hallucinogenic experiences, can be attributed to Closed-Eye Visualizations (CEV) - Stage 4 & 5 specifically, and/or the Hypnagogic state, which really tends to amplify CEV. I have had CEV my entire life, and what he describes in this interview is exactly that. I thought everybody had these until I started referring to them only to get bewildered responses from my friends, then after doing some research found out what they were. I could not imagine living a life without them. It would seem very dull, in addition, they are wonderful for creative inspiration.
I dont have CEV. But i have very vivid and lucid dreams that i remember unusually well. Sometimes weird figures appear in my dreams and i paint them. My family probably thinks its weird or unorthodox. They may even feel uncomfortable looking at them. But it feels good to be able to take exactly what i see and give people a perspective into what i dream. And in this way, my nightmares are not nightmares, anymore. theyre future painting inspirations.
