    I am italian, the journalist is talking with that voice on purpose ... in italy we use it a lot when talking with some champion, the aim is exactly what Novak felt "you make everithing seems so easy", it's a kind of a compliment indeed

    Serbian here. Italians are the best! Rarely you'll find a nation that is so great in everything and so proud that they don't even mind if you make fun of the way they talk. On the other hand, I live in northern Serbia-Vojvodina, a region with 5 official languages so we're kind of used to make jokes about our and other ethnicities and no one is offended.

    Funny thing about this is that interlaying in speaking is very common in the central and southern part of Italy while speaking italian. Novak understands it brilliantly and replies to the journalist in the most effective and on point manner: as an italian would do!

    Actually the italian reporter was using that tone not to downsize the success of Djokovic, but to glorify it with a bit of ironic humour (and a little bit of "sprezzatura", which is part of the italian style). It's very common in Italy to joke in this way. I am sure Djokovic knew it.

      Actually that was the worst portrayal ever, I say this as an Italian. Novak here, on the other hand, nailed both the accent, the gestures and the lightness of the Italians, being funny and spot on. 😉
