Michael Bordenaro I live in the Chicago area. How cheap is it in Miami compared to Chicago and when will it be to late to move before the home prices get too high?
Good question, do you live in the city? If you do, then the cost of living in Miami is pretty on par with Chicago. But if you live anywhere outside the city in the suburbs, Miami will probably be more expensive. The prices here have been going down, even before this whole shutdown, so I don't think you are in danger of prices rising significantly anytime soon👍
@@vincentwaldenrivera1297 Yep so you are in the suburbs so it might cost a little more down here than you are used to, but it's still pretty affordable compared to other places like new york and la. Did you see my video about the cost of living in Florida yet? If not, I definitely recommend checking it out also how much it cost to move to a new state.
Coming from NYC, I've been in Miami Beach in the dead middle of our winter season (late January), and been on the beach burning in 85 degree weather lol. I've also been there in the summer when immediately upon stepping outside, you begin sweating through your shirt, then a violent thunderstorm ensues, then 10 minutes later the sun is out in full force...I love it all lol
When someone asks us about moving to FL, I tell them to experience two times of year before making a decision. Of course mid summer, heat, humidity, bugs, lightening, rain. The other, snowbird season, traffic, traffic, traffic. I have also found that if you stay long enough, you build a much higher tolerance for heat. Friends of ours who have been living in southwest Fl for over 20 years, he works outdoors year round, and they find anything less than 70 degrees "chilly" and they'll throw on a sweater.
Yes very good advice you are giving your friends and I recommend the same 👍 People that come and visit in the mild winter don't know what they are missing with the summer lol. Although, after being here for 12 years I still find the summer hot but it is a small price to pay to live right on the beach and live in a great area
You don't acclimate to the fucking heat. I lived in that shit hole for over 20 years I will never fucking return ever again. I will fucking fight anyone who thinks Florida has perfect weather.
Give me the hot Summer over the cold Winters here in the NorthEast! I can go jump in the pool or ocean I can still be outdoors! In the cold Winters, its dark by 4pm and you need to bundle up and where the heck are you going in the dark 30 degrees! Hate the Cold dark days
3:05 it’s hotter in Tampa because of the gulf. The gulf water is trapped and isn’t moving like the Atlantic so it just bakes and the hotter the water gets the more humid it gets. In the winter Tampa is cooler than Miami and the gulf gets cooler than the Atlantic because the Atlantic is constantly feeding off the warmth of the Caribbean. And sometimes the cool air from north north west comes down and cools the air while in Miami the warm air and water from southeast comes up. So basically humidity is caused by warm water, warm water is caused by sitting in one place in the summer (Tampa) and/or coming from a warm place in the winter (Miami)
Good info as always! I couldn't live in Orlando, just couldn't do it. I don't see the point to living in Florida and being so far from the coast. Great place to visit for fun and things to do. What gets people about the heat is of course the humidity more so than the actual temperature itself (although that's high too). But up north even when it's hot typically it cools off more at night than it does down here. Thankfully we have AC!:)
Thank you Keto Beach! I hear you, I don't think I would ever live there either. I love the beach too much! Yeah, the humidity can literally be suffocating. That is why I am laughing when they have breaking news up north in the summer about the heat waves. Like really?? It's this hot here every day lol😂
Hi! My husband and I are from the south and, In. area. We located to Minnesota 12 yrs. ago. I really would Love to move to Florida one day! You're a great assistance for information! Keep up the videos!
18 years onto this south west Florida living from NH, and am STILL not acclimated to this insane and relentless heat and humidity. It's literally soul sucking.
@@MichaelBordenaro I hear ya there. It's pretty sad that, even under A/C down to say 78°. It can still be to humid in the house and you will sweat for no dang reason. 78° with 60-70% humidity is still disgusting.
@@kingjay239 Duuude... I hear ya. I'm in the Cape. This winter was definitely one of the more consistent cooler ones in years. Unfortunately... That is all over now. Let's hope hurricane season isn't going to come in like a wrecking ball.

It’s the end of September in the Northeast and the beautiful cool breezes of autumn have just started. It is just wonderful. Two months of heat and humidity was more than I can handle. You could not give me a house in Florida.
Having moved to Fl from NY 3 and a half years ago, I would say your video is dead on accurate. I will take consistent heat thru the summer over northeastern winters any time. Hopefully in the next 5-10 years I will be able to afford to head north to VT or NH for a few summer months...
Yes, I think that is the best of both worlds if possible. Being able to float between the north and south to escape the brutal summers here is ideal. Sound like we both have the same goal on that one!
I'm from Michigan. I lived in Florida for around seven months, from April to early November, in 2016. The summer heat really didn't bother me. But probably because I can't stand the cold winters.
You were definitely here long enough to experience summer but going through it year after year is also another scenario and some years are worse than others. But I'm with you I'll still take it over the cold 👌
Like your straight forward honesty and your and advise in this video about how hot it can get in the summer and visiting in the summer before considering moving to Florida!!!
Yes I think anyone looking to move to Florida should definitely spend at least a couple weeks here in the summer to make sure it is the right fit because it is HOT!
Visitied Florida last summer, I am from Yuma Arizona where the tempearture often gets above 110 degrees, so I thought no big deal, fuck was I wrong, humidity is terrible, I was glad to go back to Yuma but other than the heat and bugs, florida was a lot of fun
The meteorological reason why Tampa is so hot is because there are 3 climate zones in both the northern and southern hemispheres on Earth, with prevailing wind from the east in the tropics and polar regions and prevailing wind from the west in the temperate zones. That's because of the Coriolis effect, but that would take a longer explanation. That's why in most of the US, weather systems go west to east, but Florida sticks down into the tropics, so most of the year, weather systems (such as hurricanes) go east to west. So though the west coast of Florida is on the ocean, the wind is usually coming off the land in the summer. So the whole Atlantic side of Florida is better than the Gulf side. Yes it gets hot in northern Florida, but at least it doesn't last many months, only around 2, depending on what you consider oppressive heat and humidity. Wikipedia and other websites have climate data for different places if you want to see. Here in south Florida, summer lasts an eternity plus a year. It isn't so much that it's that bad, it's how l-o-n-g it lasts, it just starts to get to you after a while. In that way, just coming down here for a visit doesn't fully tell what it's like. The way I beat the heat as much as I can is, I sit in my back yard with a fan on me. That helps a lot. But that generally requires buying a much more expensive private home, since there's generally no way to do that at the pool area of a condo development, unless there's an electrical outlet right by a place to sit. Another problem here for some people is MOSQUITOES. I'm a mosquito magnet. I had to buy a private home both so I could use a fan and so I could set up a screened-in area in my back yard, otherwise I could never be outside here. I also want to spend the summers in California, if not move there altogether, especially because of no mosquitoes in the desert, but I have an elderly mother and can't be away for long.
That sounds like the best explanation I've ever heard of why it's so hot in Tampa! Thanks for writing all that. And yes I agree, it is how LONG the heat lasts, that makes it oppressive. Escaping the summers here altogether in California or living in northern Florida is probably the only way to get around it.
@G S Yeah I it seems in the desert regions is where it gets the hottest. I spent a good chunk of summer in CA in SF and LA in 2018 and was quite a bit cooler than Miami, but I know CA has many microclimates which can highly influence the temps👍 And yes, it is super humid here now lol
Yes, I've studied weather records, and no place in southern California is quite ideal. Too close to shore and it's great in the summer but only 65 in the winter, a bit too chilly for my taste, 10 miles from shore and it's 68 in the winter, only borderline warm enough for me, and borderline too hot in the summer, even with the low humidity, approaching 90. And considering how expensive California is supposed to be, I'm increasingly thinking of living off-grid in a vehicle in the desert SW and moving with the seasons, as promoted on various youtube channels.
@@onlinedirectdemocracyrevol6205 Being able to move around with the nomad life, is the best way to enjoy the all the best seasons of the SW without committing. Cool idea!

Another great video. I just bought a place in Sarasota in January and love it and was thinking what it would be like to be here full time but I think I will keep my home on cape cod and come here winters.

I've been living in the Tampa Bay area since July 2019 and love the heat. But I noticed you said Tampa is usually hotter than Miami. I've found that whenever I check the weather app especially in the winter months that Miami could be a good 10 degrees warmer. It's actually made me consider looking into moving to that side of the state.
That’s interesting because I’ve never checked in the winter. That statement was based on the summer when I spent some time in Tampa and it was quite a bit hotter than Miami but I’ve never checked in the winter
South Florida is warmer in the winter while the Tampa Bay Area and central or northern Florida can get some chilly cold snaps. Summer heat in the Tampa Bay area can be quite intense because we get the heat and extra humidity from the very shallow (20 or 30 feet) hot tub known as the Gulf of Mexico. It is about 100 miles out in the gulf before the water deepens.
I live in Orlando in February 2020. Been through 2 summers so far. It does get super hot, but it is manageable for me. Having grown up in Syracuse, NY and just remember how miserable it is up there. Go to the beach which is only an hour away, get an apt complex with a good pool, nap during the day, do stuff in the evening. Stay hydrated. Very hydrated. As it stands right now, I have family in upstate NY, I can work remotely, so I will probably go to NY again for a few weeks in July/August.
Thats the way to do it, stay cool, drink water and naps 😀 The worst is when you have to be outside working in it. I got away last summer for almost 3 months it was great, although I will say for a bout a week in IL it was just as hot there as Miami 😄
I felt the same way when I came down from IL, but underestimated just how long and hot summer would be. But it is still better than those long cold winters 👍
Hi Micheal.. I tell everyone that in Florida you have 6 months of heat and 6 months of beautiful weather. The nights start getting better by September but still hot. I think living on the beach makes it more bearable than living in Orlando. In Tampa it's low to mid nineties every day but since the inception of record keeping it never has hit 100 degrees in Tampa. Hard to believe..99 yes but never 100. It's been hot here in NYC this year. Unreal. Only difference is the extreme heat here only lasts 2 and a half months. Good info..thx.
Yes it's true, summers here are quite long. Although, even when the temps say 90's, with the heat index it always feels over 100 at that point. I remember we used to have pretty hot summers back in IL too, but even on the hottest days, night time would bring some relief whereas here, that is not so much the case
Its funny you say the humidity cranks up in miami in summer. I went there this past February and it was basically july comparing to northern states. It was hot and humid. Evenings and mornings are perfect though near and in the tropics. And sometimes days too but many times days are hot and humid.
February here is beautiful, although this past February in particular was UNUSUALY HOT. It felt pretty much like summer. Most of the time its very pleasant in FEB
After watching a number of your honest videos, i know living in florida would not be for me ...the relentless heat and humidity would drive me crazy ... probably just sit indoors anyway to stay cool so that would defeat the purpose ... I'll keep on watching your interesting videos though
First of all I am happy to hear that my videos were able to help you with that just from watching. The heat is definitely not for everyone and it is tough to deal with when it’s nonstop. But winter is pretty beautiful here😊 thanks for still watching too!
Thanks for doing this video because that was my concern about buying in Florida mainly because I hate TN summers! If I could have a vacay place there for the milder part of the year and another place farther North the rest of the year that might work. But this video convinced me for sure I can't live there the whole year without being miserable. I'm just not that much of a sun goddess lol
You're welcome! and that is exactly why I am making these videos. To help people like yourself figure it out before uprooting their lives to live here. I think if you can bounce between the north in the summer and FL in the winter, well I say that is the perfect scenario😉
The heat is unbearable!!! My goal is to get away from florida in the summers also!!!! I've thought of moving but I hate cold weather more than I hate hot weather.
A nice and cool place to spend summers and get away from the heat is San Francisco. Only in the 60s or 70s during the day and 50s at night. I love it. Everywhere else is scorching
In North Carolina, in my opinion the summers aren’t overbearing. And also, the winters are not too cool. Some days it gets cold! But most days it’s warm. So a couple of days of extreme cold, but not frequent.
Tampa will feel warmer because of The Gulf of Mexico. It is relatively shallow and the surrounding waters are more shallow and tend to be warmer than on The Atlantic coast, so there isn't that refreshing sea breeze effect. But...this year even on The Atlantic coast because of unusually high water temperatures it doesn't matter. cjt. Lake Worth Beach.
I moved to Orlando from NY to attend UCF last August and I've gotten used to the heat rapidly. Now 70 feels cold and a heat index of 90-95 feels perfectly fine. I'm so bummed because it's only 61 now, yet I'm going back home to NY where mid-late April temps are between 60-70.
i've been here 25 years, i'd say it all depends on your own personal definition of "Summer"....some people from up north might say 70's is summer.....well we have that practically all year.....
Agreed, and being from the north, I can tell you most people there are absolute wimps when it comes to the heat. In the summer 70+ they complain its too hot, then its winter now its too cold🤷♂️ But I have always favored the heat over the cold, so I feel like a natural here for the most part. It gets exhausting after months on end, but better than 6 months of sub-zero temps👍
@@brandonpenna5626 Arizona is definitely hotter in the summer than Florida. I have a good friend that lives there. Its also much drier and no beach! They prefer being in FL in the summer
I agree. April was hotter than May this year.! In 2019 we thought it started cooling off around September 15. It did get a bit cold in mid to late January -- 39 degrees one morning! We're a bit north of the Miami area (closer to Fort Lauderdale) but I think the temps are fairly comparable. This summer hasn't felt quite as hot as last summer, but we have the rest of July, August and September so maybe I'm speaking too soon.
Agreed, how strange right? Yes I think our weather is probably the same temperature wise. I think so too, it's been hot this year, but not AS hot as last year. But it's not over yet 😆

Really wanted to come down there at it's "worst" to really get a feel for it. See if I'm a big baby or not. lol Growing up in Oregon that would be quite the difference! Only thing I think is that I'm used to not being outside most months out of the year with our weather so maybe it wouldn't be too different there. No idea till I visit I guess. Do people still get tans and good sun exposure in those winter months? I'm surprised you said it's not much better up the coast. I would think you could travel up to get some relief.
It’s still pretty warm but definitely not as hot as it was back in August and September. I November it will really start cooling off a little more throughout the winter. You can definitely still get a nice tan in the winter time. I would even think you can get a better tan since you can stay outside longer without getting Fried in the high intensity sun. In the winter time if you go further up the coast the temperature differences are more noticeable but in summer all of Florida is pretty hot no matter where you are

When Pangeia broke up The penis shaped peninsula never strayed much north of its current latitude, so except for a few years of nuke winter after the asteroid, it's been summer. I had the misfortune of having lived in Orlando for a year straight and it was awful. To add insult to injury, there are places that shut off the A/C for the winter - but it's still summer but not the 7 month heat wave.
Been here 25 years and love the summer rain and heat.
Sounds like you really love FL weather
Hi Ann, I'm really happy to know my vids are giving you info and the inspiration😀

It's literally soul sucking.
I hear you! The humidity makes it so much worse

I hear ya there.
It's pretty sad that, even under A/C down to say 78°.
It can still be to humid in the house and you will sweat for no dang reason.
78° with 60-70% humidity is still disgusting.
I'm also in SWFL. Naples to be exact. And it sucks. Been here all my life.

Duuude... I hear ya. I'm in the Cape.
This winter was definitely one of the more consistent cooler ones in years.
Unfortunately... That is all over now. Let's hope hurricane season isn't going to come in like a wrecking ball.
@@Yankee_Redneck6698 Ah man, Cape. I used to work off of Santa Barbara Blvd and veterans. And yes the winter was more consistent. But like you said it appears that we might be in for a hot summer. And let's hope we don't have to deal with another Irma type of hurricane.
It’s the end of September in the Northeast and the beautiful cool breezes of autumn have just started. It is just wonderful. Two months of heat and humidity was more than I can handle. You could not give me a house in Florida.
Haha sounds like it, trust me not everyone can handle the heat! That is why I made this vid 😊
Great video, straight to the point and not filled with a bunch of fluff and nonsense.
Thank you K😊
I'm from Michigan. I lived in Florida for around seven months, from April to early November, in 2016. The summer heat really didn't bother me. But probably because I can't stand the cold winters.
You were definitely here long enough to experience summer but going through it year after year is also another scenario and some years are worse than others. But I'm with you I'll still take it over the cold 👌
@@MichaelBordenaro oh I bet it is. But I think it's worth it, personally
I love having more months of summer than winter.
I still prefer winter in Florida over summer but winter here is beautiful! But still beats being in the midwest freezing for 6 months
Michael Bordenaro I agree. Winters are very nice in Florida.

Thank you, didn't think I was alone in this thought.
Oh no, definitely not!
Visitied Florida last summer, I am from Yuma Arizona where the tempearture often gets above 110 degrees, so I thought no big deal, fuck was I wrong, humidity is terrible, I was glad to go back to Yuma but other than the heat and bugs, florida was a lot of fun
Yep that humidity just adds a whole new layer of heat and heaviness thats for sure
I do what ever Michael says to do, and now I’m a Floridian! 🧚🏽♀️✨🏖
That's what I'm talking about!!😀
The meteorological reason why Tampa is so hot is because there are 3 climate zones in both the northern and southern hemispheres on Earth, with prevailing wind from the east in the tropics and polar regions and prevailing wind from the west in the temperate zones.
Cool idea!
@@MichaelBordenaro Here's the documentary I first saw on this: ruclips.net/video/Lg37Cbx-kak/видео.html , and the main youtube channel I've been looking at that tells all one needs to know about how to live the nomad life: ruclips.net/channel/UCAj7O3LCDbkIR54hAn6Zz7A . I was already into simple living before I saw this channel (with a couple of worthy exceptions that I splurge on), and retired when I was 42. This is a way to live on little money, free oneself from having to work much, and live out in nature and the gorgeous scenery out west. Technological advances such as solar panels and computers greatly decreasing needed storage space have been making it increasingly feasible.
Another great video. I just bought a place in Sarasota in January and love it and was thinking what it would be like to be here full time but I think I will keep my home on cape cod and come here winters.
Thank you very much! I have heard a lot of great things about Sarasota, and I'm featuring it in my next video. That is awesome you still have your place in Cape cod, another cool place. Being able to bounce back between them is truly the ideal life, congrats!!
I think in Florida. They had Pernament Summer like Phillippines.
Correct. Tropical. Same here Queensland Australia
Downtown Miami in August is hotter than all hell.
Very informative! I can honeslty say, you keep it real in all of your vlogs!
Thanks man! Keeping it real is the only way for me, glad you enjoyed the video ✌️
I am looking forward to 7 months of summer, instead of 7 months of freezing cold in Illinois. But it is my first year here, so we will see
I felt the same way when I came down from IL, but underestimated just how long and hot summer would be.
Nice! I have lived at The Sterling before...
It's like 10mnths out of the year
After watching a number of your honest videos, i know living in florida would not be for me ...the relentless heat and humidity would drive me crazy ... probably just sit indoors anyway to stay cool so that would defeat the purpose ... I'll keep on watching your interesting videos though
First of all I am happy to hear that my videos were able to help you with that just from watching. The heat is definitely not for everyone and it is tough to deal with when it’s nonstop. But winter is pretty beautiful here😊 thanks for still watching too!

Great video. That is the key to "bouncing" around in the summer.
I live in Minnesota, and plan on moving to Florida. Better to be hot, than 9 months in snow and cold.
That was my thinking as well
Thanks for doing this video because that was my concern about buying in Florida mainly because I hate TN summers!
Good ideas
Glad you think so!
I was born in northern Illinois too! I had days that were up to 98^ degrees and if you stayed longer than an hour you’d get heatstrokes
Thanks for the video

The heat is unbearable!!! My goal is to get away from florida in the summers also!!!! I've thought of moving but I hate cold weather more than I hate hot weather.
A nice and cool place to spend summers and get away from the heat is San Francisco. Only in the 60s or 70s during the day and 50s at night. I love it. Everywhere else is scorching
@@MichaelBordenaro Smoky Mountains for me, much more affordable and beautiful in the summer!
@@TheRekrap Sounds like a good choice, heard that is a nice area too, have yet to check it out. And much easier to drive to from FL👍
Maybe North Carolina? In the southeast, we have hot/humid summers, but the spring and winter are mild
Wow that is quick! It took me many more years to get used to the heat, and I still don't like it. But I deal with it bc its beautiful here 😎
100 degrees & 100% humidity
That's what ice-cream and smoothies for: keep you cool.
That’ll work for approximately five minutes and then you’ll be back to dripping sweaty hot LOL

The heat and high humidity in Orlando Florida can make you feel miserable 🔥🥵 🌡️
i've been here 25 years, i'd say it all depends on your own personal definition of "Summer"....some people from up north might say 70's is summer.....well we have that practically all year.....
What would you guys compare it to Arizona

I live in New York and I want move to Florida but I want to rent a studio apartments under $1000 what places do you recommend me ? Also I want to find a job there as a dental assistant it's good in there ?
Studio apartments in Miami are pretty tough to come by for less than $1000. They do exist but they’re usually pretty crappy units. However, if you go further up the coast Fort Lauderdale Pompano or West Palm Beach you’ll have better luck finding something in your budget that is nicer. And yes, dental assistant jobs here are good👌
Michael Bordenaro thank you I'm checking what cities are more affordable for me but I don't know where to start thank you for your advice !!
@@maryjane8333 You're welcome! Orlando and Tampa are also pretty affordable and there are a lot of jobs. Might want to check there too!
Come to Tallahassee - it's nice here. Don't expect to make as much as in NY.
I know you're legit because of that Dual Rectifier.
Haha yeah man 🤟🎸
How long is summer in Florida? Given plate tectonics it's been ongoing since BEFORE the asteroid nuked the dinosaurs!
When it's the rain every day season, what you want to do before entering any of the under-airconditioned buildings is let the rain get you soaked. That was 38 years ago, before global warming got going. It can only get worse.
Not a place for runners! I cant wait to leave
Hello, are you still doing real-estate? What is the best way to contact you?

Please email me at michaelbordenaro@gmail.com with all of your info about your move. When you are moving, where to, renting, buying budget etc. 👌

@@MichaelBordenaro real estate awesome. What kind of homeowners insurance is mandatory when buying a house in florida. How would you know if your house is in the flood zone
@@mohican19831 You'll be required to have basic homeowners insurance when you buy a house if you are financing. Flood insurance is only mandatory if you are buying property in a FEMA flood zone
Coming from Canada, I went to myrtle beach in August and sunbathed all afternoon in over 90 degrees then into cold hotel, back out in the heat, in cold restaurants and back and forth from hot to cold ....I looked like a lobster, burnt and peeling like a banana, in agony and got a touch of heat stroke ...and that was not Florida sun ...I never once burned in Canada no matter how hot it was ....totally different sun l0l
Oh yes, the sun is quite a bit stronger down here, especially in FL the closer you get to the equator
THAT'S AN EASY ONE TO ANSWER: 12 MONTHS!!!LOL
