    That was a great video! You had so much really neat footage. The first does movement was classic of a doe being chased and the bucks that followed were proof. The second chase scene the buck grunting as he pursued and then the snort weez was fantastic. And of course the buck that Crystal shot was a beauty. Great job of hunting!

    Wow! What an awesome buck! I live in South Carolina and been deer hunting here since I was old enough and a really big buck for us, at least in lower part of the state is around 200 lbs on the hoof. What’s a good average weight for mature buck where you are, or what’s the heaviest deer (whitetail) you have harvested? And congratulations to Crystal! You have certainly made her a “celebrity “! I enjoy the interactions between you two. I subscribed and will keep watching. I hope to somehow someday get to experience what it’s like hunting up there! Thanks

    • @djboutdoors6473
      @djboutdoors6473  Год назад

      Hi David! Thanks for the comments! Indeed we do have big bodied deer for sure. Crystals deer in this video was probably close to 300 lbs on the hood. An average mature buck up here is usually around the 265-300 lb range but some certainty do get bigger. The biggest buck we have harvested was a buck my son shot a few years ago. Estimated him to be around 350 lbs.
      Happy new year!

    I love these whitetail videos. I’m in GP now. Mostly an elk and mule deer hunter from BC. Lots of whitetail around here but nothing spectacular. Would you recommend more toward slave or cold lake areas east of here?

      Hey Jim! This season I had to go back to my older Sony camera. It’s a HDR CX900. 2016 model I think. I had just bought a Canon XA40 last year which was good too but had an unfortunate event with it this summer. Have to replace it. Thinking of going to Panasonic HCX2000.

    • @GrizzlyCountry
      @GrizzlyCountry Год назад

      Interesting.
      I've been shooting with a Panasonic Lumix DC T7S, and it's great for simple close range stuff like fishing.
      But on deer it just can't focus, especially when using the zoom.
      I had 2 great bucks that I thought I'd video'd and got no footage, due to the camera going out of focus. One might have been the heaviest horned 4x4 I've ever seen. Stupid to pass it up I guess.
      I'm looking at the Canon Vixia HF G70.@@djboutdoors6473

    • @GrizzlyCountry
      @GrizzlyCountry Год назад

      Video camcorder choices are bewildering! 🤔
      I'm leaning to the Canon Vixia HF G70 due to the dual SD slots + it uses USB-C connectors, has gone away from the old Mini-USB.@@djboutdoors6473
