    Bro here’s a trick if you don’t have vehicle stands just for extra safety in case your jack decides to giveaway and collapse and kills you…. Put the wheel under the ute. Otherwise awesome

      Latest video on the channel reminded me of you comment - that video was filmed before your comment. I am putting that wheel under the ute everytime now - great advice thanks again.

    I’ve just fitted the same snorkel on the 2.2l PX1. After watching your video it made it all simple. I did have to trim the pipe from the snorkel, turns out it was a little bit too long.
    Great video tho mate!

    I noticed you had the chrome screws out of the snorkel when you had it on the bench. What bolts did you use to tighten the snorkel to the bracket?

    • @4weeksleave
      @4weeksleave  2 года назад +1

      I didnt like to look of the ones supplied with the snorkel so I got some SS ones to replace the chrome

    Hey mate do you notice any water getting forced into the snockel when it rains heavily? Im looking at instaling the same one but my main concern is water entering the snockel. Cheers

    • @4weeksleave

      HI mate, I have had no issues with water getting in in rain.

  • @Nightwolf3389

    How did you go about reapplying the rubber roof trim over the snorkel roof bracket bolts?
    Obviously with the bolts, the trim no longer sits flush as it did pre install, it bulges over the bolts.
    How did you get it to stay down, and was it flat?

    • @4weeksleave
      @4weeksleave  3 года назад +3

      Correct, I left it for a couple of days till I thought of a plan. In the end I used my router and trimmed the rubber around where the bolts and the plate sit so it would sit flush. I used the same silicone I sealed the rest of the snorkel with to glue it back down. Have not had an issue with it thus far. Hope that helps!

    How did you go with the foam gasket, it appears the bolts provided are too short and won’t grab when trying to fit

    • @4weeksleave
      @4weeksleave  2 года назад +1

      They are short, but with some effort and force I managed to the the nuts to go on. It would have been nice if the bolts were 5mm longer.

    Great video. Looks like you made light work of it. I've got this exact snorkel kit installed by previous owner of my Ranger, just been looking at to try and work out how water resistant it is (for wading and also rain). Doesn't seem to have any dirt/grit/water run-off at the ram head so wondering how well it copes with driving in heavy rain. I've not yet had a chance to open the airbox after heavy rain driving to check for buildup.
    Question, do you have any idea what that bulb is for in the pipe that lives behind the fender? If it was on the underside of the pipe I'd expect some sort of water/grit catch you could clear out, but as it's above I'm wondering what the point of it is?

    • @4weeksleave
      @4weeksleave  3 года назад +3

      I've opened the airbox after drive in some rain (not super heavy rain) and airbox was 100% dry. Regarding that bulb - I have no idea been wondering the same thing.....?🤷‍♂️

    How do they drain the water when it rains?

    • @4weeksleave
      @4weeksleave  3 года назад +1

      I don't think there is anything in the snorkel design to drain rain water. It is a very interesting topic and a lot of discussion around it. www.4x4earth.com.au/forum/4x4-tech-talk/24947-stupid-question-snorkels.html

      I only ask because i got the genuine ford snorkel and noticed the piping that goes from the airbox to the actual main snorkel peice just slips on and its pretty loose. Shame ford didnt send any fitting instructions would have saved me a couple hours of thinking

      @@NDH411 I think the knockoff that if got is very similar to the genuine Ford one you got then. The airbox connection is pretty good and snug, but my biggest issue was also the pipe connection to the snorkel - and you can't really get your hands in there to push them together and or seal. What did you end up doing?

    The drill and install on the roof rail concerns me. Incredible opportunity to rust and leak. I haven’t seen anyone show how they ensure water seal and corrosion protection.

    • @4weeksleave
      @4weeksleave  3 года назад +1

      Very valid concern! I had the same when I realized what I was about to do to my car... after a bit of research you realize that most offroad roofracks get fitted to 4wds the same way.
      My method for corrosion protection - Prime/paint the newly drilled hole immediately with a good paint (I used nail polish - not so sure about that yet)
      Water seal - I used roof and gutter silicone and a rubber/foam washer between the bracket and the roof.
      Hope this helps a bit - I should have filmed and included more info on what I did. Not that any of this took away my concerns either......
