Crocs designs boot.- chooses to put giant holes in the boot to stay true to the croc look. I feel there's a design/production engineer somewhere laughing as hard as possible right now because a marketing team refuses to listen to him about this. You are vindicated good sir.
The older models of the boot did not have the holes and was fully closed, with only the shaft made of nylon. My guess is the whole Jibbitz thing is the reason for this one.
Agreed. As soon as I saw those holes I thought it was garbage. Croc makes a work line with no holes and slip resistant already, all they would need to do is slip that sock into it 🤦♂️
Ugg’s and moonboots also get soaked in water, way more than these boots. What y’all are so mad about. These shoes are made for city life and for statement rather than for heavy duty or playing in snow in Canada
All while you were showing the half-cut, I thought: this could be a way to make perfect kids boots that would be super cheap, if there were no holes in it, a little more insulation, better water-proofing, etc. And of course, no brand name to boost the price. It could be a good idea to do a video about that, for parents with low income: which are the best no-name cheap boots for kids, since kids usually need a new pair each year until they're 15.
Thus far with my son ive found its way better to buy slightly used higher quality boots from garage sales/thrift stores/ebay/etc.. And then either sell/gift them when he's done. Buying new seems stupid especially when there's so much kid stuff out there that's barely been touched.
@@cheesecurd100s Very true. I received gifts and bought things for my kids that they never were in the right size for during the right season, and went to the thrift store in mint condition.
Maybe the rain boots and wool socks worked in your state for winter. Here where I live you’d have frost bitten toes if a person tried to use that for winter boots. Not all parts of the world have winter weather conditions that that little for winter cold protection would work.
It would be so much easier to make a versatile removal washable boot like lining that had snap attachments for the holes in the regular Crocs if they wanted to go with the look. You could change the look of the croc with a different lining. Wash it easily and still decorate it with the weird badges if you wanted to. And it would be virtually the same boot without a lot of design flaws.
They had that for one time for their basic models before the brand experienced a resurgence in popularity. It was the basic style without the strap and a removable liner to wear it with or without faux shearling.
They were great! I had a pair that were obnoxious colours but they were so warm and light. They felt almost like a cast boot until you put them on, then they would become the perfect soft, everyday boots. Wish I could get another (less crazy coloured!) pair.
EDIT: apparently they do still sell the all cast ones which don't have holes, but the quality doesn't seem the same as the ones 10+ years ago. I'd like to see the duck boots and Axle models brought back. The Crocs boots I had were EVA all the way up, no holes or anything, and they were marketed as rain boots since they were they were the most waterproof I've ever seen. That was like, 2008 or so, and I miss those. I would have needed only one size larger for them to still fit. They did get really sweaty, but as a kid jumping in puddles, they were great. The floatiness was a bit hard to get used to, but yeah, the old ones never had holes in the boots, they made ones without holes and they looked like a neon coloured duck boot. But they don't make stuff the way they used to. They used to have factories in Canada, Mexico, and Italy, possibly others, before moving only to China, and the quality went down after that.
I remember having to wear bread bags on my feet because my old worn out boots had holes. That was because of being dirt poor. Now Crocs is bringing back bread bag liners because of shitty design.
I applaud you for these videos. I buy most of my apparel and footwear online, so I don't get the chance to physically inspect the quality of materials and build before buying.
Exactly, all they had to do was not sew and glue it in so it could be removed and washed.. It would literally cost them less money to improve the product by at least 100%.
Love your direct, unvarnished, opinion of products!....hah. it is certainly a major reason why you've gotten so many subscribers so quickly. Always look forward to your videos! Have a Merry Xmas!
Why not sell just the lining and have it be snapable from the inside to the shoe itself, that way you could take it out and wash it. But then then again if you want to wear crocks in the cold, just wear loose woolly socks with them. The UGG boots look like kuoma boots that are very common and cheap in Finland, they are waterproof and warm.
Ligit what I thought and if you're super into Crocs you could change the color of the lining or the Crocs. Also if the lining and Crocs are both washable, the lining being machine washable, no issues with trapped stuff.
If they’d make these properly I could see them being very handy for taking my dog out on wet and cold days. I kinda love the idea, actually. As they are I wouldn’t buy them though. One of my favorite things about crocs is that they are so easy to keep clean. I have no use for crocs I can’t keep clean.
It’s just the classic shoe with a liner glued in to keep your feet warm in cold weather. They didn’t even consider if it would work as a boot. They didn’t want to pay to update the design and make it functional. They just glued in a furry sock to the existing shoe.
Can you do a video on a pair of Japanese made leather shoes or boots? Japanese craftsmanship is usually top notch and itd be interesting to see how they do their shoes/boots there
I don't think that the problem with the holes is that you can't get out what fell through the holes but that stuff falls through the holes. On a layer that is not waterproof. When you are wearing boots to keep your feet dry.
That’s like Ugg Over the Knee boots. A snow boot you’re not supposed to wear in the snow, and which will become terribly stained if you do. $350. And their entire Classic I boot line is the same.
I think Crocs would have benefited sealing those holes like they do for the work Forest version of their clogs or even the Sherpa lined clogs that also don't have holes over that top of the foot. I know Crocs make a duck boot or maybe they used to I don't remember seeing them the last time I visited their website
I’d imagine the croc still has holes solely for the purpose of saving money. It’s clearly just an existing croc glued together with a boot insert. Using a product they already have to make an entirely new one is probably better on expenses.
It’s bizarre that these don’t have two features from previous winterized crocs: no holes, and a snap in removable liner. They have done both of these things on some previous models.
I had a well to do customer that never had a complaint one about his repair bills on his watercraft. Was talking to him one day bout his hobbies and the expense. Turns out he is a foot doctor, told me that the Porsche RS Cup car he drove was paid for by Crocs, Chuck Taylor's, and Flip-flops.

My wife bought me my first pair of crocs. I was amazed by the comfort but hate the look. I was considering buying the boot for everyday . But after watching this I have changed my mind. Thank you for this video. It was quite helpful and insightful.
That’s why I bought the other Croc boots. I got the white ones that are totally enclosed and higher on the foot as well as $99. But I also don’t expect perfection from them. I just want them to be comfy to and from my car. I walk with cane and I can’t bend my knees much. So the ease of getting them on and off is what I want. Plus these have better traction on the bottom and don’t have jibbetz ability on them! I have other Croc’s for that. I love my Crocs but like I said I like the more expensive one better. It is constructed better.
I would love to see you review different kitchen nonslip work shoes. I own several pairs, and my favorite by far is my danskos but my crocs are actually surprisingly good too!
I have 12 pairs of crocs. I love crocs. I just ordered these on Zappos in Chai for $59.95 They are comfortable. I do not use charms on my shoes. Yeah but people don't normally spill milk on their boots or ketchup or chips.
they're actually crocslite foam which is actually very interesting, anti bacterial, anti slip, water proof, soft but sturdy enough to use as both an insole and an outsole
All I needed to see . I don’t need boots for summer I need them to work for fall winter and spring. Which these will go bad so fast within a few wearing. Thank you.
Yeah, it seems like it would be better make the liner removable so you wear it like a sock (maybe with some retention so you don't take it out until you want to) inside of the rubber boot and can clean them individually.

Crocs is a children's shoe company that was turned into a meme and then a fashion trend. They have no business being a respected company to begin with, so it's no surprise that they make play shoes.
Back in the day I actually had brown crocs with a faux fur or shearling Ugg style lining around the opening. And they still had the holes on top like a regular croc. Yes, people teased me. They make a similar version today, but it’s not the same.
I don't understand the holes in these boots, my Crocs are hole-free to avoid getting my toes wet when washing dishes so I don't see how they couldn't get rid of it for BOOTS 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ It's simply disgusting and dumb AF design 😖😖😖
Frustratingly they could have just gone the route of Hunter and made a companion sock for the standard Croc. If they just made weatherproof insulated booties that fit into Crocs (which you could pull out and wash), I think they would sell well.
I don't know anything about the boots but Crocs work shoes are crazy. You should do a review of Kodiak boots. They seem to be a decent budget Canadian boot company. My partner has had a pair for many years now and they have held up tremendously well.
When we had mice, it was horrific what ended up on the inside of my crocs. On the upside, I could bleach it all out and they are doing better than the mice 🐁 are now ☠️.
I have never seen a poorer excuse for a boot in my entire life...there is absolutely no way like HOW!?? DID THAT GET LAUNCHED edit: OH GOD THOSE TOES NO NO NO NO 😂
I'll never understand the love people have for Crocs. They may be comfortable, but they're just so ugly I would never consider buying them. You can find equally comfortable shoes that don't look like they were designed by a two year old.
You're definitely not way off with these boots or the brand in general. I work with people that swear by Croc's due to the comfort, but they don't even work in restaurant settings due to hot water spillage and whatnot. I use a pair of lmockoff Blundstones that while held together with Shoe Goo due to cracked leather and are safer, more slip resistant in the environment, a dude burned his toes when hot oil hit his crocs. My main boot of choice is a pair of wonderful Redback's that have to fail me. Croc's are terrible in general and their winterboot as you said in the video is only for folks who want to look trendy. Great video as usual and best to you and yours.
Have you ever done a Muck/Bogs style boot review? If not, I would definitely like to see one. Muck Chore boots are one of my favorite winter boots. Thanks for the content!
Please do this with Baffin winter boots! Ice fisherman in Canada swear by the Titans and Impacts. Would be cool to see anything from Baffin cut in half.
By definition the goal of boots is protection from the elements. So intentionally punching holes in boots not only shows a lack of understanding, it takes extra work to then have an unnecessary holes disposal problem.
I have regular crocs with a faux fur lining and no holes. There’s a back to the shoe, not just a strap. I have used them shoveling snow. They really work well! (Assuming you are careful enough not to fall on ice).
You know, i understand they wanted to keep the aesthetic of the holes in the crocs look, but they could've just put a piece of the plastic that crocs are made of on the inside of the boot, so you could see the holes and theoretically use those garbage things to put in the holes but still make it so the boot was functional
Video Suggestion: would love your analysis on some huaraches (the Mexican woven leather sandals, not the Nike sneakers). There are lots of manufacturers claiming traditional, hand-made construction and implying that's better. Then there are mainstream manufacturers selling factory-made but cheaper options. Would be interesting to see your take on the differences in leather and construction quality. Yes, I'm mentally ready for warmer weather.
Some people just want to make a fashion statement. I am not one of those people. This is a good choice for them if they are just going in and out of warm and comfy places with no real snow or mud in their path. I've noticed down here in Texas people start wearing winter boots when there is no earthly reason to wear them. My wife pointed out that they pay quite a bit for their fashion boots and want to get some use out of them before they go out of style.
I had to turn it off after the cut in half. I get the picture. 🤢. Thank you for doing this, though. I thought about getting those but the problem of the holes did occur to me. I just figured they must have some way of handling that. Guess not!

You should do a review of Kodiak boots. They seem to be a decent budget Canadian boot company. My partner has had a pair for many years now and they have held up tremendously well.
It looks like Idiocracy winter boot.
As a lover of my crocs I will confirm that stuff falls in them around the house.
When we had mice, it was horrific what ended up on the inside of my crocs. On the upside, I could bleach it all out and they are doing better than the mice 🐁 are now ☠️.
I have never seen a poorer excuse for a boot in my entire life...there is absolutely no way like HOW!?? DID THAT GET LAUNCHED
edit:
OH GOD THOSE TOES NO NO NO NO 😂
It’s gotta be a joke to see how far they can take it with crocs
Plant a seed in each hole with mud and grow clover or grass. Oh, and don't forget to fertilize and water.
The design team were taking a break on this one
100%. This is one of the most horrendous shoes in existence on any level
You couldn't pay me enough to get me to wear or own any of the god awful crap Crocs makes.
I'll never understand the love people have for Crocs. They may be comfortable, but they're just so ugly I would never consider buying them. You can find equally comfortable shoes that don't look like they were designed by a two year old.
I love mine, but they're exclusively house shoes. They're basically slippers for me. They were also a gift though, so I didn't spend the money lol
So it's a clog with thick socks xD
Please do this with Baffin winter boots! Ice fisherman in Canada swear by the Titans and Impacts. Would be cool to see anything from Baffin cut in half.
When it got to the parmesan I couldn't stop laughing 😂
By definition the goal of boots is protection from the elements. So intentionally punching holes in boots not only shows a lack of understanding, it takes extra work to then have an unnecessary holes disposal problem.
Hush Puppies marketing tagline somewhere around 1970: “Hush Puppies are dumb.”
Crocs: “Hold my beer.”
I like your jacket! It looks cozy. Could you please do a review on Nobull boots? They have some unique leather boots.
You should start reviewing cowboy boots!
Crocs has Allcast boots. And it's almost perfect boots for winter in any conditions.
I wonder if the biggest flaw is neutralized by having the little decorations in the holes 🤔
I bet junk still gets in around the edges.
I have regular crocs with a faux fur lining and no holes. There’s a back to the shoe, not just a strap. I have used them shoveling snow. They really work well! (Assuming you are careful enough not to fall on ice).
Do some asolo boots fugitive. Or the vasquez boots. Clarks dessert treks with the gum bottom
You know, i understand they wanted to keep the aesthetic of the holes in the crocs look, but they could've just put a piece of the plastic that crocs are made of on the inside of the boot, so you could see the holes and theoretically use those garbage things to put in the holes but still make it so the boot was functional
12:11 At first it sounded like the shed burnt down with all his ROOMATES inside.😅
Guess not!
Love that you left the ccs “ “. I was wondering if you were going to put something like “idk”.
Thumbsing up for the stuff in the holes
So good! Random thought…have you ever considered cutting up some Dansko clogs?
i got a ad for Xtratufboots wheel rewatching you should look at those next!
