Nuclear Man was really angry because he had to fly around while incased in a clear plastic box and scaffolding. The failed nuclear war only mildly pissed him off.
According to the novelisation Nuclear Man betrays Luthor and decides to turn himself into a missile and fly towards Russia in order to begin a nuclear armageddon. This leads into the above scene where Superman discovers Nuclear Man wants to wipe out all life on Earth except for himself and Lacy. To me this is a MUCH BETTER motive to give the character instead of lumbering idiot that he was edited into as the complete version makes him the darker equal against Superman.

Could've been the best scene in the movie. Terrible choice to cut this one. It's hilarious when Luthor says, "Oh, no" like a kid with his hand caught in the cookie jar when Superman shows up. I love how their relationship evolved to have this familiarity by this time.
No, it would still be terrible with this scene. I always was under the impression that the Lacey in space scene replaced the Lacey being dropped over the ocean, but after viewing this I guess she will be carried into space by Nuclear Man? so dumb, and the entire sequence, even if finished would look terrible. All of the blue screen in this film was bad. There is nothing to indicate the sequence over the ocean would be any better than what made it's way into the (in)completed film.
Maybe it's a nod to the first film when Superman says to the burglar: "Hi there something wrong with the elevator?" Especially as his hands are on his hips like the first film.
THIS makes a lot more sense. To me it always seemed like Nuclear Man had gone to the Daily Planet to find Lacy but I noticed that when he got to the top floor and Superman did the "She's not in there!" trick, that it looked like Lex's penthouse instead of the Daily Planet building.
Highly recommend seeing the movie with commentary by Co-Screenwriter Mark Rosenthal. This movie had problems from the start and then once it was picked up by Cannon Group, it went straight to HELL. It's a shame too, because Christopher Reeve, Gene Hackman, Margot Kidder, Jackie Cooper and Mark McClure returned to their starring roles and John Williams scored the movie(alongside some Alexander Courage). It should have been stellar, oh well..
Anyone remember it's fan cut Superman IV: The Quest for Coherence? it wish it hadn't been taken down off youtube years ago, It restored many of the actual background music to the deleted footage. That was close of an actual Extended cut.
I remember that cut. That was the first time I heard the music meant for the Metro Club footage as well from the Superman The Music box set. If only WB would release that footage so fans could finally fix this movie with modern editing and VFX programs available.

They were notoriously cheap and were actually taking money that was for Superman IV and putting it into Masters of the Universe instead. Cannon had no business even attempting this type of movie.

1:15 Little detail is that Lenny Luthor is sweeping the remains of the burnt money Lex made from the missiles; Nuclear Man incinerates the stacks of cash we see in the final cut after Lex makes a jokey comment to Nuclear Man about enjoying 'the smell of money in the morning' before he flies off to steal Lacy from The Daily Planet.
A surprise that Lacey slapped Nuclear Man in the face for kidnapping her and taking her to Lex Luthor's hideout. A shame that Lacey didn't slap Luthor in the face for all the evil he has done and at his nephew, Lenny, for falling under Luthor's bad influence and helping him create that monster to kill Superman. This deleted scene didn't deserve to be edited out as well as all the other scenes that were removed from this film. If they hadn't, the movie's true running time would've been for 2 hours or more.
When I was a nine year old kid and Nuclear Man says “Where is the woman?” I wanted to think he meant Lois, but I still knew that wasn’t right. As the movie stands now, Nuclear Man takes Lacey from The Daily Planet as one of his last acts in the entire film.
This would have improved the movie for continuity reasons mainly but I never understood the "Nuclear Man becomes a missile" part. Would he literally have looked like a missile in the finished scene or is he only registering as a missile on radars?

This scene gave the scenerio more risk as Nuclear Man was a concern that Superman himself needed to deal with. Mark Pillow is a talented actor and should have been giving his own voice to use. The 4th movie was a Schlock Mess and it could have worked if it he editing wasn’t piss-poor. But, it had a lot of potential and instead of a disaster movie, Superman got to fight somebody his equal or higher.
I have all these deleted scenes edited into my superman 4 cut, clocks in at near 2hrs, the original theatrical cut was 1h 33mins and I have to say I prefer my edit, not only did it make sense but it was a better story and Nuclear Man was more of a threat.

as an ardent fan of Chris Reeve Superman films, i can honestly say, this film was utter shit. I still cannot believe I walked out of the cinema half way through. i couldn't stand any more. The plot, the acting, the FX, just everything was just catastrophic, and to this day, i have never watched it all, and I never will.

In the original days of the script concept, the writers wanted to make a more serious movie involving Brainiac, but the executives at the studio wanted a less serious movie, so we ended up with this version instead. In fact, they planned on having Bizarro in the film as well. I think that movie might have been really good. Sadly, the studio got this wrong, and this movie was a flop.
It was used in previous movies for flying sequences due to the blue screen effect, here, because of lack of budget, they couldn't correct the colour. 😅😮
If only someone on RUclips remade this movie in crisp animation with Zack Snyder photography and a few tweaks to the storyline and action sequence's etc ,I wouldn’t mind paying to watch…
They chopped the film up so much it doesn't make sense. Nuclear Man's taking of Lacy is actually a result of a prior incarnation which became obsessed with her at a night club. When they scrapped all that (about a half hour of plot) his abduction of Lacy ceased to make any sense. It's said that Reeve's final outing as the Man of Steel was so poorly treated.
It probably wasn’t included because he appeared to take Lacey in space, but it was a nice scene. Instead of totally remove this scene and others. I wonder if they could’ve just fix the scenes themselves?
This edited into that 143 minute super cut edition of Superman IV can improve the film drastically. I wish they would do it, in honor of Christopher Reeve’s final idea for his Superman films. The app Max is very very good and they still don’t use it like they should.

Besides its too ridiculously unrealistic to have a human being go through all that. I thought he was only going to show him he got her in order to lure him out of his trajectory and into the trap in the building. That would have made sense.
This would have been awesome. A callback of sorts to the weirdness/scariness of Superman II. This scene actually made it in part into the trailer (in the most basic appearance).
They definitely shouldn't have cut this, it means the "where is the woman?" line now makes sense, Superman's reappearance isn't so sudden and coincidental. You've got more Gene Hackman in the movie which is always a plus, and you no longer have the idiocy of Lacy breathing in space. The only issue they would have created is they'd need to find an alternative ending after the moon fight, because they can't use Nuclearman pointlessly kidnapping Lacy and flying her into space, for what reason we don't know, to show her where he buried Superman?? This was definitely worth keeping.
Now I understand how Superman knew he was after Lacey. Decades ago It puzzled me how Superman was just at the Daily Planet to prevent Nuclear Man from getting her. Now, they need to explain how Superman rang the doorbell as Clark while He was still in Lois's apartment as Superman. I don't think she was working for Lex. From what I remember Nuclear man sees Lacy in the Daily Planet news paper. And he then brings her back to Lex's place. I am not sure if Nuclearman 1 also sees Lacy in a deleted club scene. Superman destroys Nuclearman 1 and the remains are used to create Nuclearman 2 the only one we see on film. Part 4 makes 0 sense because they cut so much. If left uncut and effects finished it could have been a good film! Nuclearman fell for Lacy the minute he seen her and was fixated on her.
It,s a shame.I mean, I don,t think that these scenes could make the movie a piece of art, but could make the movie better that it was in the end, make an ok Superman movie and an acceptable farewell for Cristopher Reeve.

Nothing can make Superman 4 a GOOD Superman movie - Cannon's cheapness is irreversible - but it could be s better and coherent one ss this scene shows.
Would of been better if Nuclearman was about to kill Lex. But Superman shows up saves Lex. Lex finally stops being a hardcore criminal. Helps Superman by revealing Nuclearman's weakness to him. Still have Lex as a Eddie Haskell type. But changed his tune about being a real criminal and respect Superman.

Somebody at Warner needs to green light a restored, improved version of this film and edit in the 45 minutes that were unused.

Now, they need to explain how Superman rang the doorbell as Clark while He was still in Lois's apartment as Superman. And what the blue eyebeam Great Wall of China wall rebuilding vision came from and how it works 😂
Man to I wish they would do a remastered version with all the stuff they cut out. I also wish Cannon Studios would of not fucked around and ruined what could have been a epic finale to Christopher Reeve as Superman.

Lacy working for Lex is a graet reveal... it's an awesome scene!!
I don't think she was working for Lex. From what I remember Nuclear man sees Lacy in the Daily Planet news paper. And he then brings her back to Lex's place. I am not sure if Nuclearman 1 also sees Lacy in a deleted club scene. Superman destroys Nuclearman 1 and the remains are used to create Nuclearman 2 the only one we see on film. Part 4 makes 0 sense because they cut so much. If left uncut and effects finished it could have been a good film! Nuclearman fell for Lacy the minute he seen her and was fixated on her.

It,s a shame.I mean, I don,t think that these scenes could make the movie a piece of art, but could make the movie better that it was in the end, make an ok Superman movie and an acceptable farewell for Cristopher Reeve.
I could be wrong her. but I think Lacey would have made an awesome villain. heck they didn't need lex in this film. just made Lacey the bad guy and the movie would have been great.
If only this movie would have a better plot than it could have done something but sadly nothing worked

Nothing can make Superman 4 a GOOD Superman movie - Cannon's cheapness is irreversible - but it could be s better and coherent one ss this scene shows.
Would of been better if Nuclearman was about to kill Lex. But Superman shows up saves Lex. Lex finally stops being a hardcore criminal. Helps Superman by revealing Nuclearman's weakness to him. Still have Lex as a Eddie Haskell type. But changed his tune about being a real criminal and respect Superman.
If the filmmakers had only chosen an actual canon Superman villain instead of one they made up out of 80s nuke fears.
