Jennifer will take us on a trip back in time through her unforgettable roles on ABC’s Loving as Lily Slater and CBS’s As the World Turns as Meg Snyder Reyes Landry.
Jennifer is a proud member of Theatre Unleashed, 2Cents Theatre Group, and The Foundry Theatre Works. Some of her favorite credits include Dean Productions’ King Lear, HFF 2Cents’ award winning immersive Unreal City and Vote for Murder. Recent films include, Coming to Terms, honored in the NY International Film Festival, Silhouette of a Ghost and CSI Murder Most Foul. She just completed the film Nowhere Pie and her web series, Struggling will finally air later this year.
Today, Jennifer spends anytime she can on the picket lines and hopes the SAG/AFTRA and WGA strike will prevail in getting fair compensation for all.

I want to thank everyone for tuning in and Alan for inviting me! And I can't believe I got the order of Snyders wrong!! I was thinking because when I returned, I had run away from home and I was meeting Iva for the first time, that everyone was there before me. Of course that's not right!! I remember when Renee came, we had been in the Snyder clan for a good long while. I don't remember where everybody was and how we all kept trickling home. Time for me to look back... I hadn't thought about it until Alan asked me. Thanks for reminding me.

And yes it is understandable you might mix up some details I think the last time you played Meg was maybe 1993 maybe 1994.

Lovely to see the talented Jennifer Ashe! Meg drove me crazy which only speaks to Jennifer’s acting skills! She played Lily which such a overwhelming sense of pathos and pure damage. Great actress! If I was rebooting I would definitely want her back as Dr. Meg Synder.

I enjoyed watching this live. Great interview, Alan. I prepared for it by watching old ATWTs clips on YT. The nostalgia hit hard. I always rooted for Team Snyder. Loved Meg's street smarts and southern twang. Jennifer brought heart and spunk to the role. I wish her all the best in her future endeavors. Hope to see more ATWTs interviews soon. 🫶

Great interview -- I love Jennifer! Just a note: she was incorrect about the timing of the Snyders: Holden was first, followed quickly by Iva in late 1985. Meg arrived in early 1986, then Seth almost immediately afterwards. Caleb arrived much later in 1988 and I think Ellie was 1989 -- AFTER Meg left the canvas to live in Waco with new husband Josh.

I am missing the Snyder kitchen too especially the Doug Marland era Snyder kitchen and farm In general,
Including the Snyder picnics and the swimming in the Snyder pond.
And even the Snyder barn.
And of course only Doug Marland could pull off holden sleeping with Julie Calebs wife, thinking he was sleeping with Lilly drunk. And get away with it.
Or rod raping Iva, producing lily, but then marrying meg or pushing the bounderies with lily and holden almost on the verge of bieng Insestios same with Meg and rod but back then it worked. Including Douglas Marlands sense of humer.
Jennifer was great as Lily on Loving, again another Doug Marland created role, then he brought her to ATWT as Meg and she was great!!

Great interview I was looking forward to this all week! So good to see Jennifer, I haven't seen her in about 30 years since she last appeared on ATWT. So many great memories of her and the Snyder's. Alan, another fantastic interview. It was so good to see Jennifer again, learn more about her and ATWT backstage stuff. I know it is tough to get all the actors together but I think you mentioned before how you wanted to get the whole Snyder clan together and I really wish that could happen. Jennifer's memory is a little rusty. I am rewatching this era of Atwt, and she was not the last Snyder to arrive. She actually arrived before Seth, Caleb, and Ellie. Good interview. She was my favorite Snyder (Jennifer's version anyway) they had toned down the character quite a bit when Marie was on.
She thought Ellie was the last Snyder to arrive or at least that is what I thought she said. I couldn't remember the order. Glad you enjoyed the interview.

She is only in her 50's. Her memory should be OK.
Alan so great an interview and trust me after you posted that she was coming on I went last week and watched as much old loving clips as I could find.
And the one dated 12/83 was so riviting with Jennifer as Lilly slater in the stand in the courtroom on the stand going my father tried to rape me.
And kudos for jenifer telling you directly that loving was Doug Marlands creation too something ABC has tried to hide ever since he left loving in 1985.
Anyway keep them coming.
And ohh before I forget it's ironic because jenifer played crazy first as Lilly slater and years later atwt with Marie Wilson in the role basically made Meg crazy exactly like Lilly slater

For me, Jennifer Ashe was always THE Meg and I never really took to any of the other Meg castings after she left (which is not a reflection on their acting skills, just a personal preference). It's great to hear so much background stuff re the Snyders and filming and I'm glad that she had such a happy time on set. To me as well Meg's growth always stood out to me; it's a credit to Jennifer's acting for sure. When Meg matured she went from annoying to admirable for me lol. Thanks to both for this interview.

Based on reading the summary of what her character Lily went through on Loving.. it actually makes sense as to why she was selected to play her. While Ms Ashe seems very confident and out spoken, she was also able to tap into the elements that they were looking for in Lily (introverted, quiet, shy) to get the role. In fact, because the show was planning to feature the DID.. her being able to be both confident/extroverted.. and also introverted/shy was probably what got her the role. It's a shame the original long range plan was not done (where Lily would get counseling... and she/Jack were going to be the main couple of the show).

I think viewers also need to realize who watched atwt and guiding light that loving looked very different when Doug Marland was there.
And since renee props and ellie came up and Seth Snyder and the Snyder clan.
But on lioving it was the donavans and Lauren Marie Tayler as Stacy Donavan was the ellie of loving.
And Bryan Cranston was the original Doug Donavan the Seth of loving
And before we had Kathleen widoes as Emma we had terry Keane as rose Donavan.
And the Donavan kitchen and rose constantly cooking in it with an apron with James kibbard as Mike Donavan who was a cop and like a mixture of Hall Munson and Caleb.
I am bringing it up because Douglas took his concepts with him.
But with atwt no one messed with him until he died.
And we all loved how fun the Snyders were or Liz Hubbard and Lucinda and Barbara.
Or Julie wendell who at first like Nola we wanted to kill but quickly loved her as much as the rest of the, show.
Ohh and I forgot after Anthony herara ended his first run as James stenbeck he went to loving and worked with Douglas and played Dane hamond off and on who ended up married to ann alden Forbes
But was introduced with Susan Keith as Shana Sloane trying to manipulate her and like the Julie wendell tonio reyes dynamic just mentioning it.
Because we all miss that.
Ohh and jenifer ashe was a bit mixed up concerning Luke and Laura on gh.
Douglas wrote Luke raping Laura.
But it was Gloria Monty who then wanted to do that pairing and Douglas said no that's disgusting, I wrote that as a rape as he liked the scotty Laura pairing.
And that's we he quit general hospital and went to guiding light.
I am mentioning it because Luke and Laura as a couple was all Gloria Monty and an example of Douglas bieng crossed. 😊

Sorry I need to comment again but I think it is important as something in other forums keeps coming up concerning today's eps and writers.
But things and this ties into your interveiw with Jennifer ashe and great writers like Douglas and harding Lemay.
But also comments I am reading in other forums about charecters from other shows bieng knockoffs of other charecters.
So I will say this it's okay for writer's to take storylines they tried on other shows or create new charecters when they go to other shows its how you do it.
So I will say this about Douglas
So let's start with the quartermaines imagine if Douglas had the quartermaine farm and had Alan and Lila as farmers on gh and port Charles. Would that have worked or just seemed stupid and ridiculous and out of place in port charles.
Or let's discuss loving and the Donavans and vocheks all the blue prints of the Snyders were there including the Snyder kitchen including the steps to a tee that we all remember from atwt.
But on loving I do not think the Donavan farm In Corinth would have worked. With a pond
The way the Snyders worked in oakdale.
Or the Frame farm worked in bay city or the Jessup farm in Springfield.
Or let's discuss Erica Kane and Rachel Davis cory both were agnes Nixon creations but Rachel with Robin Strasser came first at another world in the late 1960s. With Rachel the hell raiser on aw.
But agnes created at amc Erica Kane with Susan Lucci.
And I am bringing it up because I am seeing and reading comments especially on the another world forums confusing bad writing and decisions with plagerism or charecters on other shows that came later as just plain knockoffs and that's wrong.
Fine if you want to criticize awful dumb decisions and the writers and be mad NBC canceled the show same with guiding light and atwt and the ABC shows.
But it is wrong to accuse Erica Kane of bieng a Rachel Davis cory knockoff and to assume Erica Kane came first.
When Rachel came first.
And to me that is just as wrong as what ABC for years tried to cover up with loving from the end credits to in interviews saying loving was all ages nixons creation it wasn't.
It was Douglas Marlands creation as much as ages nixons creation.
And again it's still art.
Like music that's as bad as ozzy Osborne and the bark at the moon album with saying ozzy Osborn wrote the whole album when everyone knows as ozzy can't play an instrument or write music.
And everyone knows Bob daisley and Jake E Lee wrote that whole album.
Sorry but it needs to be said.
Concerning distinguishing between plagerism and bad knockoffs VS a writer going to different shows but at each show giving us charecters and storylines we can still love and enjoy years later.

the only Snyder character, i thought, was over exposed.... enough already... was Ellie... it was always Iva and Meg that caught me... notwithstanding the oft missed.. older brother, and of course Holden.. otherwise... this family caught.. even if i thought, it took away from the main characters... ATWT , will always be... my favorite show... Babs and henry any one.. PLUS PLUS PLUS - WOW

The Snyder family was a little messed up with the semi incest, Meg married her adopted cousin Josh, who raped her adopted sister as a teen, plus Lily married her adopted uncle Holden, and had flings with her other adopted cousin Caleb. Yucky, but it is soapland.
Jennifer was great as Meg,I felt bad for Meg when Tonio was a jerk, but her family did throw red flags at her. In addition, Lily interfered in her relationship with Damian. Lily treated Damian like dirt as his wife. I wanted Damian and Meg as a couple. I stopped watching when the 2nd actress came on the scene, I do know Meg went crazy.
