Sad to see Alcos in this video. Can only imagine how frustrating it was to restart shut down engines. Crews would tell me that they loved EMD and cringed when they had anything Alco because they knew that they'd break down somewhere

The trackage in this video probably now mostly belong to Norfolk Southern, the Reading Blue Mountain & Northern, or any short line railroads.

When I was a kid in 1970's North central Ohio we had the EL and PC going through town and I thought it was normal for the cars to rock wildly as they went by haha

Good video. Brings back memories of 1972 flood on Allegany River in Salamanca, NY going to summer camp in Allegheny State Park. Really tough summer for many people in NY and PA. Tough summer for the railroads as well.

Unfortunately if you only read the captions, you will have a horribly bad idea of what is really going on. The speech to text is a mess.

Great video showing clips of my 3 most favorite Eastern railroads which were the Erie Lackawanna, Lehigh Valley where 7 members of my family worked on out of Coxton Yard between 1868 & 1976 & the Delaware & Hudson. I used to watch many of the Erie Lackawanna, Lehigh Valley & Delaware & Hudson when I used to visit my paternal Grandmother & grand uncle who was an freight conductor on the Lehigh Valley.
