I REALLY like the combination of the steel and then the brass against the dark ebony and the beautiful handle. It's really beautiful. I'm amazed how to can take very ordinary looking items and turn them into such beautiful works of art!
You are a humble guy and I really respect that! I suffer from the same problem, not too many people around me, like knives as I do! Υou make very good Puukkos!! Always be hungry for perfection on knife making! Keep it up!
Beautiful and anatomical handle with nice color combinations and without the bottle syndrome. Very nice sheath and overall a very stylish and elegant knife.
@@RustLegion To be honest, I didn't know it either until I wrote it to you, it was spur of the moment inspiration. However, I was referring to the somewhat clumsy handles of many manufacturers that resemble a Coca-Cola bottle in shape.
Your knifemaking is really solid. You clearly master every step of the way. More than I can say about myself, but that's what drives me forward. Also, the place you hate the most is the part I love the most. Brass is my favourite material to work with. But on top of all that, your video editing is brilliant! Good job, mate!
Thanks for the nice comment mate. I have much to learn and to improve but that's the fun :) I also like working with brass , if I had to do this with stainless it would be much more unpleasant :) Brass is more forgiving.
@RustLegion you know, earlier tonight, when I was watching this video while having some evening food before going back out in my workshop, I had just cut a piece of 2,5mm brass for a middle-spacer (don't know the technical term, but for your knife it would be something to put between the ebony and the alder burl, and like a sandwich of different plates, you know what I mean.) And I actually filed out a profile-pattern on the brass plate. I've never done it before, but it was actually quite fun, even though it was a bit hard on the fingers as I don't have a vice yet. But it was not that hard, just a bit time-consuming, and it was very satisfying to see the pattern develop. Also, I forgot to say, that alder burl is beautiful! Is it Scandinavian alder? I have several alder burls from this area in Northern Norway where I live, yet I have never seen a pattern quite like that before.
Another amazing knife in one of my favorite steels 80crv2. :) I just wish I could do handles as well as you. Too old and clumsy I guess (me I mean) . :) Keep up the good work.
Hammering until it stops , getting it out and filing a bit then hammering again. And doing this multiple times. I didn't show it because it is very long and boring process, but next bolster I fit , I may make full guide.
@@RustLegion Thank you for revealing that. I was so confused, because you said you learned it on RUclips. I'm spinning in my brain, trying to figure out this technique. That's good editing, because I didn't catch it.
I just found your channel. Looking at the beauties you make encouraged me to try making my own puukko. Do you have any suggestions for a person who is familiar with knives, but never made one himself?
It is awesome that I encouraged someone to try and make a knife. My advice is to watch some more videos , see what tools you have around you and adapt your process to the tools and workplace you have. You will need a piece of steel from your local knifemaking supply shop (4mm thick 80CrV2 or 1084 would be nice) and a piece of wood. Also a way to harden it. If you give me more info I can give you more directions. Cheers
@@RustLegion I was thinking about the specifications for the knife, next week i will have some more time to think it through, until that i need most of my time on studying, i can only watch your vids during the my pauses :D. But i will write you the details as soon as i can, since you offered even more help wich is so nice of you! Thank you very much mate!
Love it! Can a person buy one?! Just like this one. How much would you charge? If I had the means and ability to make one myself, I would. This is the kind of knife I would pass onto a loved one, or friend, after I'm gone. We live in a world of quick fixes and immediate gratification. This knife and your other work seems to come from personal due diligence and integrity. I greatly appreciate it. Thanks for the videos...
Hello sir , thank you for the nice comment. Yes I take commissions , If you want - send me an e-mail at dimitarpopov88@yahoo.com and we can discuss the details. Best regards :)
I usually show how I cut real things in my videos at the end , but this knife was made for a friend of mine and I didn't want to scratch it . This is why I only hut some soft wood and paper at the end.
I've never seen this type of knife before but the past 11 minutes have made me a huge fan of the design
You married elegance with classic. Great result.

Respect man. Beautiful knife with a razor sharp edge. Σορεος
Thank you neigbour :)
I have a Puukka knife I inherited from my father. I fact I have most of his Norwegian and Swedish knives.
I now want to make one.
Great video.
Lmao, at 6:27 I can hear someone playing Oblivion in the background. I love that game. Also great knife! It’s gorgeous.

Wow, just wow. What a beautiful knife.
Beautiful knife! ❤

Great job, simple, beautiful !
Gorgeous. And I like your video style. It's fun.
Excellent and looks fantastic very skilled craftsman. Thank you 👌👌👌👌
Thanks friend :)
Nice work! I am quite interested. Especially at this time in the making of the sheath. Thanks for sharing this!
it is not the most in depth video of how to make this type of sheath , but I hope that it will still be of help for you :) good luck
Another amazing knife in one of my favorite steels 80crv2. :) I just wish I could do handles as well as you. Too old and clumsy I guess (me I mean) . :) Keep up the good work.
again, simply beautiful work. Thank you. J.
You make it look so easy. What a beauty
Молодец хорошая работа. Отличный рабочий нож. 👍
Fun video mate. Well done. Excellent knife aswell. Rob.
Thanks friend. If you think it's fun then I did my job :D
Мастеру респект👌👍шикарная работа
Just Awesome! What is the “oil” you put on the handle at 08:25?
Thanks :) it's pure tung oil. There are tons of different oils for wood , I think they all work , it's a matter of preference :)
@@RustLegion 🙏🏼 it looks really satisfying
Outstanding job 🤙🏻
thanks mate :)
Fantastic make. I know how to make knives but the magic part still working on it.
yes the magic is cool but it has a long cooldown :D
Beautiful !!!!
5:22 how u made that triangle? Just by hammering bolster down with tube onto blade?
Hammering until it stops , getting it out and filing a bit then hammering again. And doing this multiple times. I didn't show it because it is very long and boring process, but next bolster I fit , I may make full guide.
@@RustLegion ah, thanks. That explains a lot about fitting bolster without gaps
BRAVO!!!
Great video and great job!
True beauty!
Simply a work of art. .
Thank you :)
Hi. Do you sell knifes?
Отлична работа! Много добре.
Did you grind the top of the knife to? Like the opposite side of the edge?
yes I did. At 5:21 you can see the crossection of the blade from the shape of the hole in the bolster. It's like false edge.
Шикарная финка!
Great video for a great knife👍
Thanks. I learned some things from this build.
Very nice!!!
I am amazing how you grind the blade so beautiful! It looks like its very difficult to me!
when I first started it was pretty difficult indeed :) but with some practice and ruined blades you get the muscle memory and the confidence ;d
Well the internet is interested so thanks for sharing. And good work !
Thank you , you make awesome knives ;) I want to try a puukko with carved horn and your video gave me some good info on how to do it ;)
@@RustLegion You are welcome ;-)
Il est magnifique ce puukko .
It looks amazing. The handle looks fantastic, the pattern on the wood is very beautiful.
thanks , friend :)
I love it, im gonna make that.
Do it :) I will be happy if you do :)
@@RustLegion yes :) i just need some stuff
Hi, thanks, very good vidéo ! Which kind of resin does you use ?
Thank you. I use 24 hours epoxy resin :)
@@RustLegion thanks !
Nice knife. How did you break the brass plate? It was the coolest thing I have ever seen!
thank you. As much as I don't want to spoil the "magic" I just cut it and then did some video editing :D

Все хорошо, но зачем такой длинный хвостовик, и такой короткий клинок??
Клинок - 10.5 см, хвостовик - 11.5 Если рукоятка короче, то она будет мала для руки владельца, а он хочет лезвие 10,5 см. :)

how the f*ck did you get it so sharp
I grinded the edge till it's very thin (around 0.1mm) then I sharpened it on 1200 grit water stone and finished with leather strop :)
Пока переведу кино закончится, с когда смотреть.
