Lol.

Seems like whether people think it fits or not depends on how long ago they played a Donkey Kong game
I knew it vaguely sounded like Donkey Kong or Crash Bandicoot, or some other game from my childhood...
Yeah, but we have a masterpiece like radz-at-hans theme that has Classic Indian vibes with sitars but a modern touch. And like you said this feels just like my Videogame Playlist is playing in the Background. I dont say its Bad. I am just really disappointed.
Or if they loved Emperors new groove
@@ROBerter-h9u There is literally Bossa Nova in it, which should scream Brazil at people if they didn't think it was elevator music.
I mean, part of the problem is that a lot of indigenous south anerican instruments and cultures were lost. Just look up what happened when the national museum of brazil burned - all the language records we had of those cultures went up in smoke. We literally don’t know what this country would sound like since those cultures didn’t survive the way india indian groups did.
At least big band and jazz, both being north american, still get across the idea of a modern and equal power rather than faking something tribal out of the western ideas of what that should sound like. It sounds like New York in the roaring 20s, because Tuliolal as the capitol of two continents, is the most modern and metropolitan area till solution 9 gets plunked down out of the syth wave era.
The Emperors New Groove. Now with more alpacas.
omg
1,000,000+ alpacas...lmao
WoL: Let me guess...seemingly cheerful expansion?
Wuk Lamat: Yep.
WoL: Depressing and sobering twist at the end?
Wuk Lamat: Most likely..
WoL: ....bring it on.
I expected to spend the first 30 minutes in the expansion exploring the city, instead I spent it at my drum kit playing along with this absolute Soken banger.
How am I supposed to do anything in Tuliyollal without bopping along to this music?
I legit cannot... We should seek medical help immediately.
crafting is weirdly fun with this music (and the night music) playing in the background
I was not mentally prepared for a big band style theme and I am HERE FOR IT
Same here. I didn’t expect it, but it just *works perfectly*
It was a very pleasant surprise and now I spend more time chilling in town than doing the MSQ lol
Soken doesn't even bother hiding his divinity anymore.

@@DerekDirk-eb8dj that's some intense jealousy you got there. So you specifically looked up this exact theme, found a comment praising Soken and this is what you decided to write? Just how assblasted are you, exactly?
@@DerekDirk-eb8djbest fart I’ve ever heard or smelled 😂
Of all the themes I expected of our Fantasy Latin America, it was not BIG BAND JAZZ.
But I am here for it all the same, this shit slaps and is one of my favorite genres
That's exactly what I thought at first too. But after a bit of research, Latin Jazz often already has Big Band Jazz influence (think soundtrack in the Donkey Kong series), and besides that, the most distinctly "South American" part is already showcased with the heavy toms/drums and type of percussion rhythm used (especially at the beginning). The first half of the track also borrows from the flamboyant style of Spanish traditional music from overseas influence and settlers, which spawned its own Jazz style in the continent. So in essence, the first half of the track is about South America and overseas explorers/traders.
The second half of the track is like North American smooth jazz & soft pop influence from English settlers, which makes sense if Tuliyollal is a trading hub for the Americas that welcomes the north, and northern influence as well.
There are lots of parallels that start to make sense if you dive a bit deeper. So while the music might seem like a stretch, or immersion-breaking at first, the nuances of it checks out.
@GENKI_INU wasn't expecting a lesson but I can't complain lmao!
@GENKI_INU oh this is FASCINATING, thank you so much for the info!
The Dawnservant’s New Groove
Sun comes up in Tuliyollal shortly after servers were up and as soon as i say how good it is out loud shout chat starts blowing up, then fc chat starts commenting on how much of a banger it was. Was funny to see the synchronized acknowledgement in real time lol. Immediately reminded me of Donkey Kong Country Island Swing.
Somebody in the shout chat mentioned that and a lot of folks were like 'omg I can't unhear it now' lol
Lol told my fc this morning "alright made it to Donkey Kong Island"
The smile on my face reading this 🤣
Yeah that was a fun moment. As soon as the sun rose chat just erupted in joy. So good. I was in the middle of quest dialogue when it popped up and I just had to sit there and listen a couple times through.
Soken and his team really went: "Ja like yazz?"
Soken "Would you like me to butcher it?"
"Oh boy, I can't wait to get into the new city and see what kind of cool and fittingly thematic original soundtracks I'll get to experience"
Soken, in all his glory:
This is more accurately swing than jazz, though it does quite a bit of jazz sound in it (thanks to the prominent saxophone)
@@zanaduz2018 it's Big Band, actually
@@zanaduz2018 Swing is Jazz, this is very Benny Goodman esq, especially that prominent almost Klezmer like clarinet

@4:02 huge themes of "Close in the Distance" chorus... "TURNING, WENDING, ALWAYS, NIGHT FOLLOWS DAY"
Yes!!! My wife also realized this and thinks she is going insane. Nice to see more people noticing
I love this, it reminds of the pleasure district in Gravity Rush.
I need this scroll like yesterday
glad it wasnt just me thinking of gravity rush
GRAVITY RUSH MENTIONED
I THOUGHT THE SAME THING!!
I'm so happy people still acknowledge Gravity Rush, those games deserve better
I AM SO GLAD I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE, ALSO GRAVITY RUSH MENTIONED!!!!!!!!
Oh that sax at 3:22 is fucking killer holy shit. Reminds me of Soichi Noriki’s stuff.
was about to mention when i first heard the song it reminds me of the you can make it song from the dream cruise album
Its the sound of your soul leaving your body
2:41 onwards... man, my favour bit. Feels weirdly nostalgic.
It's because the first part until it shifts into the "Smile" leitmotif is note for note, a callback to the Dark World theme from Zelda: A Link To The Past.
As someone that is a drummer (recreationally) I fucking lost my shit hearing this theme for the first time. Already visualizing how this is being played on the set. It's just so insanely well done.
I was hoping that the music would be on par with Ratz-ad-Han and then I arrive and I am getting the most glorious of Jazz. I LOVE JAZZ! I will enjoy my time in Tuliyollal ^^
This track STRAIGHT UP has the energy of a 1993 Chips Ahoy commercial.
Go look it up and tell me I'm wrong.
I looked it up, and no you are not wrong lol
I thought the same thing..Chips Ahoy!! Lmao glad to know I wasn't the only one
Just looked it up... Damn, it indeed is
I can't believe I am not the only one who thought that as well! xD
that's because that Chips Ahoy commericial used Benny Goodman's recording of Sing Sing Sing, ruclips.net/video/r2S1I_ien6A/видео.html, and this theme is very Benny Goodman esq with that prominent clarinet part
absolutely criminal that there is not a single place you can actually buy food items in tuliyollal
I am still waiting for my tacos.
i was not prepared for DONKEY KONG COUNTRY BABYYYYY
The big band music of the day to the cool jazzy vibe during the night is really 👌
We love a little Sing, Sing, Sing in our Dawntrail :3c
Need an edit of that Emperor's new groove chef's kiss meme. Put Pacha in a Pelupelu outfit
can't wait for soken to roll up at the next fanfest in a black and yellow striped sweater, wink at the audience, and say "you like jazz?"
That big band jazz feel is unbelievable! Soken cooked and cooked to perfection with this
2:41 is my favorite part!
reminds me of xenoblade chronicles
@@Jinsei24 Great taste in game and music, dude!

Ok guys who gave Soken access to the Jazz Slider
Never thought I would hear this. Big Band is my favourite. Hope there is much more.
Im here for 3:20
So I think some people aren't digging the music because it does not fit the city's region inspiration. I think that's because Soken decided to base the music off of what the city represents instead: harmony between different cultures.
I mean no other cities so far had this much unique individuals. Playable humanoids like Hrothgars, Hyurs, and Viera etc, Hanuhanu and Pelupelu, Mamool Ja. All which have various cultural significance, together in the city. And what better way to show that than big band swing, where you have multiple instruments together to make a vibrant sound?
Right, all people need to do is have a SHRED of critical thought here. Why would Soken choose big band jazz? What is the history of jazz? This takes a Google, people. Please learn - you get SO much more out of this game if you understand why people make artistic choices and writing choices in this game.
@@laerwen I still don't like it, and that's speaking as someone with parentage in Mexico and Cajun Louisiana. If you dig a LOT deeper you'll also know that there are multiple kinds of music in the entirety of Latin America. Mexican culture, most relevant to me, is already a blend of Native and Iberian. People like myself on the border already have a rich and textured history of mingling and mixing. All of this is a matter of taste, naturally, but I would have killed for a bit of mariachi to blend in with the rest of the overwhelmingly Latin American influences.
There were multiple genres of music I expected this city's town would use. Big band jazz was not one of them.
Hey I'm not complaining though, this shit's a bop.
Anyone else think the start sounds incredibly similar to FFX's chocobo theme?

I have a sudden hankering for Chips Ahoy listening to this
Definitely my favourite main city theme now
A good friend of mine showed me this since I’m big into big band style jazz and I am HOOKED
So many people are missing the obvious way on how Soken made such an amazing track. Clearly, the answer is the classic answer for all FF inspiration.
Soken just flew to Tatooine and showed the Cantina Band DK64’s Jungle Japes and hired them to make their own version. It’s so obvious I’m baffled people haven’t put 2-and-2 together!
The start of the track reminded me a bit of the Chocobo theme in FFX in the calm lands
Expected a Donkey Kong lookalike next to the Aetherite with this song playing.
That sax....
It wouldn’t surprise me if Soken drew inspiration from Benny Goodman’s “Sing Sing Sing” for this. Both are bops to absolutely jam out to.
I am not a jazz person, and I didn’t expect jazz to be in my S. American coded city…But I can’t stop vibing to this BOP!
This theme blew me out of my shoes, I tell ya. I didn't even want to leave the city.
Big band jazz is gotta be my favourite gender
These pronouns be gettin wild
Getting that classic FFX Chocobo Theme vibes. that just me?
Meteor, Meteor, Meteor of the Jungle, WATCH OUT FOR THAT CACTUAR
This theme is very similar to Sing sing sing by Benny Goodman
Sounds like an old-timey city theme. Either that or the theme you might hear in an old gangster flick when they're at a bar or casino and the bullets and fists just start flying. xD
Soken is putting Gordon Ramsey to shame with how hard he is cooking
Its giving FFX HD Remaster Chocobo Jam
3:20 you wake up at 3am back in your childhood house in the 90s, the weather channel is still on as you fell asleep flipping through channels and suddenly realize the almost 30 years you experienced was just a dream, all of those crazy world shattering events could never happen

When I first entered Tuliyollal, I stopped and thought "this is some Benny Goodman shit"
straight banger

Time to hit the Coco Bungo! Sssssmokinnn!
Half expecting Donkey Kong to come barreling out of the thicket with a saxophone
This sounds like the msin character in a play walking into New York City for the first time
How can people dislike this? This isn't just a fantastic theme in a video game, it's a genuinely impressive swing composition as well. Hats off to Soken!
some people are upset because this theme "doesnt" fit the city lol. i guess they just wanted some generic jungle music or something.
I don't want to feel like I'm in a Manderville quest for as much time I'm in the city. It sounds like something that would be playing a club or ball. Pan flutes would have been better
@arturius9715 night theme does sound like bossanova. Whats with all these people that wanted pan flutes that's so generic and stereotypical wtf???
honeymoon era ended with Endwalker so now all ffxiv are becoming wow players by instinct in how they treat a game they "like"
@@arturius9715pan flutes don’t fit tuli’s vibe at all.
It is the main metropolitan port of tural. I love that they chose to be daring and let the new world sound modern instead of tribal. It musically asserts that these people are on a level with Eorzea.
3:20 😍🎵
I was dancing in my seat, enjoying the first half. Then this hit and I can't help but just say "Oh that's smooooooth"
Soken really pulled a “Boys! Give me one with a beat!” on us with this theme did he ?
That magnificent bastard...
Yakuza 0 mentioned
I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR THIS but damn now everytime I port to Tulliyollal I just feel the urge to start dancing 😀
2:41 best part of the song
its crazy good omg
When this dropped as Tuliyollal loaded in for the first time I literally had to stop what I was doing and just vibe along to the music for a solid minute or two. What a fucking BOP

Getting mad Emperor's New Groove vibes here
As soon as i hit Tuli in early access i screamed DONKEY KONG!? and everyone in chat raving about how much they love jazz
Not at all what I expected but I LOVE this
2:40 allni could think of was the opening to Smash Bros Melee trophy music
When I arrived at Tuliyollal, I got goosebumps by listening to the song. A song that marks the beginning of a true new journey.

Friend of mine mentioned that the bgm is very high energy for a main city hub and I will agree that can turn people off who like to chill/afk. I personally wouldn't mind if Soken had split this song in two and put the second half as the day Tuliyollal theme and the first half elsewhere like in cutscenes or something.
Is this the new hub music ?
yes
I love the song, but I don't think it matches the place for me. It's a bit awkward to have jazzy big band theme playing in what essentialy is FFXIV's version of a mesoamerican capital.
3:22 got me ascending
This took me by surprise first landing in Tuliyollal because it doesn't fit with the theme of the place at all but DAMN if it ain't a banger.
As a bard, there is absolutely no use performing here. This music is WAY too good to try to play over.
Does anyone know what the BGM is called and if the Orchestrion is in the game already?
I have been looking for both day and night and no leads at all.
Everytime i listen to this, im thinking its Monsters Inc music 😂
very now and then, I almost expect "Hey Pachuco!" to start playing in the middle of this track
