Pretty sure buzzfeed employees get a yearly salary not a % of earnings of the individual videos they're in

These videos were filmed weeks ago. Buzzfeed legally owns the rights to these videos, which was made when she was still an employee.
That's like BMW saying, "we can't release this car anymore because one of the mechanics were fired." It just doesn't work that way.

people need to get over themselves. Brittany broke the rules of her contract and therefore she is fired. she filmed things before she was fired and got paid for her job, so Buzzfeed has every right to post it

apparently brittany appeared on a video that wasn't on buzzfeed which was against their contract so they had to fire her
actually buzzfeed employees appear in videos that aren't on buzzfeed all the time but obviously buzzfeed didn't know anything about her working for others so this is a really resonable thing to get fired for.
According to Buzzfeed Alum, Buzzfeed's contracts are extremely vague. Brittney and Jenny were probably unaware that the projects they are participating in violated their contracts.
Some employees told POLITICO they were taken aback by the firings, and said they weren’t aware of the reach of the non-compete clause until Lorenzo and Ashley were fired. Others said that the non-compete clause is enforced unevenly by management, and that the agreement is vague about what constitutes as a competing project.

I know a lot of people are upset by Brittany being fired, everyone is I think, even Chris is. He wants everyone to support the video. They both worked hard on this series especially Chris was in the office extremely late to make this! Show them your support. Great job both of you guys and we will miss you Brittany. Brittany signed a contract and in doing that, she promised to do all the requirements mentioned on the contract. She obviously breached something that was on the contract and she has to live with the consequences. Buzz feed would have done the same thing to any other employee who breached an agreement they had.

As far as I know, Brittany and a few others signed a different contract stating that they would only work with buzzfeed. I don't think everyone has signed it. I saw a list of those that did but can't recall/find it now
