Well, I've been around bikes a long time... 1st time i saw a lady with a fresh nail job doing serious wrenching! Subbed for that alone... good on ya. 👍

Cool video. Apart from a few mistakes, you still did very well because we can see that you are still learning. As others have written, a torque wrench is necessary, it may backfire later. I used to not have one myself and I rode, but more often I had to repair the motorcycle on the road. Moreover, the screws should be tightened opposite each other and the gasket should be dry, because if you screw it too tight, it will come out on the sides. However, you showed in this video that anyone can repair and service a Sportster, even in the parking. I liked it, better than hundreds of movies with unnecessary talking
Yes this is the first bike I’ve worked on. As for torque wrench as everyone else has said- if someone buys me one I’ll take one but im out of my van and I use what shop has what.
@@angel_ofanarchy I would give you the one my first. I bought it in Kaufland (supermarket) for 79 PLN (20,5 $) a few years ago. It may not be professional but it worked well and even has a certificate. Unfortunately I am from Poland, shipping and customs duty costs more than this wrench 😁 Peace.✌
I digs. Got a '91 XLH883HUG and I sometimes have to do roadside. Props for having the tools to do it. Yup, asses, redo if necessary, get back to the home base. Gd Luk, stay upright and between the pipes! PS: torque the primary when you get home! :)
@@angel_ofanarchy good news, I saw on Google news where there has been trafficking happening at Sturgis, not only dope rapes, also, forms of forced labor. Best wishes
Comments are like armpits, we all have them & alot of them stink. Long shank hex wrenches get a lot done but sometimes you need more leverage. Use the closed end of a combination on the shank of the hex tool as a force multiplyer. Saves knuckles
What a great video. First time subscriber. Sexy that you can work on your own bike, nice Job.. The bike looks amazing n you look hot. Blessings from MN.
Did you leave the chain out to rust so it can get stiff ? You should invest in a torque wrench, I've cracked my primary over tightening those bolts. Also tightening them downtheway you did can also create a problem. I put a small amount of gasket sealer in different areas to hold the gasket so it doesn't get outa place whilst I tighten it down
In the beginning I said “these are kinda fudged in here” because they really are. That bike is working by magic and anything that I do on it “wrong” is for a certain way. Cause if I do it the “right” way it wouldn’t work.
Also 100% not investing in a torque wrench. Someone can buy me a torque wrench but I live in a van I’m not going to buy a torque wrench when I make 0 dollars a day lol
And no you want the least rust and oil on it when welding before welding and then it’s just gotten rusty from being in the rain: I welded it to make it stiff
All very good points. Sometimes we learn the hard way. Not because of stubbornness but because no one had taught us the important little tricks before we gave it a shot. My dad taught me most of those tricks but I always like to find a good instructional video to follow. Especially since they only way I can afford my project is if I don't screw up more things in the process

I love it when I have pieces left over.
Its so fun gotta play “WhAT the FUCK did this come off from” or it’s just something stupid simple
That's funny, I found 4 extra screws left over when I did a heater core in a 1987 thunderbird...I didn't even know it came with extras!
