Here's everything I find wrong with his ending assessment of the M's overall luxury-sport dynamics: 1. SIZE: I personally find the size & dimensions of this sedan to be perfect! Both for standard & extended wheelbase versions; he even says so himself that both the front and back seats are adequately spacious for grown adults. Also,if this car were any shorter in length than the standard wheelbase already is, it would disrupt that sleek, sweeping roofline and rear curvature, and thus ruin the immaculate outer styling altogether. 2. CLASSIFICATION: I think it was an ingenious decision on Infiniti's part to market (and price) the M/Q70 as a midsize competitor, despite being amply larger than virtually all other sedans in this segment. He was right to say that the M/Q70 wouldn't hold up against the likes of the S-Class or 7 series, as the M isn't quite as spacious, comfortable or refined as those models. BUT...as a 5 series, E-class competitor, it's more than a match. Which brings me to my next point... 3. DRIVING CHARACTERISTICS: For the most part, I'm in opposing disagreement with everything he believes would make the M a more "proper" luxury-sport sedan. The ride does NOT need to be softened up any more than it already is in Normal mode; I feel as if Infiniti, to the best of their ability, adamantly tapped into that uncompromising BMW suspension arrangement, which aims to give the car an ideal balance between firm & sharp handling and a comfortable, forgiving ride. Hence the varying Normal/Sport modes. Same goes for the steering feel and arrangement. The M doesn't have to come with a light, airy steering mannerisms just for the fact that it's a relatively large luxury sedan, like an S Class or LS. Taught & heavy steering wheels have always been akin to sports cars and sport-oriented driving (such as with many BMW's) so I feel it's rightly at place with the M and helps solidify Infiniti's objective of giving their current flagship it's unique luxury-sport character. I for one find this to be as perfect a luxury-sport sedan as there can be, and look forward to owning one of these in the future. The ONLY minor gripe I've ever had with the M/Q70 is the subpar fuel economy, but those large naturally aspirated engines mostly due away with any dissatisfaction.
After recently driving this car with a fresh set of Michelin Primacy tires, I noticed a significant difference in the ride comfort and road noise levels. This car got an unfair shake from me when I drove it with the old Bridgestones on it. I am much more impressed with the car now. Thanks for the well thought-out counterpoint.
I owned one of these, during 2 years and from 78k miles to 105k I never had any problems. Just oil changes and tire rotations. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a reliable and quick daily driver.
I have this very car and you're spot on. It can haul when you want it to, but most of the time you want to cruise around downtown cranking up the bass and just enjoying the comfort. Seats can be adjusted like crazy, so you'll never be uncomfortable. I have the M37x and the AWD is... way more than you expected. I can take sharp turns at 60mph. It looks just good enough, is just sporty enough, is really comfy enough for serious car buyers to consider. If you're in real estate, financial services, or mortgages - this can be your car. Or if you're starting off a good record label, this will do as well. It's like "business meets hip hop."
By far the best review or explanation of the M I have come across. Everything you have said is right on the money. I live and drive this car in Africa and guys in benzes and bimmers always come up to me at gas stations asking me what car this is and give me compliments as to how beautiful and sleek this car is. Like you said it’s so different from any other car on the road and it sounds amazing. Plus it hauls ass when you want it to but a comfortable cruiser as well.
This is the way to review a car. One of the best and most precise review on RUclips on the Infiniti m series. Although i bumped into this review a few years later, nevertheless it's a great review. I own an AWD 5.6 V8 model with the echnology package, (all bells and whistles) and i love it more than my Mercedes S550 which been a troublesome money pit.
One heck of a good review.👍 Likely selling my low mileage 07' 328i coupe manual and getting one of these. The GS 350 was the other contender. The Infiniti promises to impart a better drivers experience and man, what a dashboard.😎
My family had one of these for a few months last year (did not get a prepurchase inspection……I urged everyone to get one when thing used)and it unfortunately mechanically was totalled due to rust (I live in the northeast USA) but when we did have it and I drove it, my god it was just perfect. It was highly optioned, super comfortable, beautiful interior, and was a rocket when you put your foot down. Miss that car dearly!!
I've had a Q70 for the last 3 years... and i found your review pretty spot on. I happen to belong to the exact niche they were going for, and i absolutely love my Q70... I also love the fact that i got it as a dealer demonstrator for half its retail price... which further serves the point you were making that the niche market this car serves is pretty small, because i bought mine when Infiniti Australia were dumping them from the line up due to utterly abysmal sales ☹ They really do appeal to a certain market... my friends call that the "old man car" market... but whatever, what do they know. (The said the same about my A33 Maxima... which in Australia was pretty much exactly the Infiniti I30,) My only criticisms of it are: 1. We didn't get the v8 as an option in Australia, (but that's a mild criticism, because that VQ is phenomenal,); 2. There is no way to completely turn the "rain sensing wiper" off and use it only as "intermittent" - This is a very big oversight... i don't mind power assistance, but outright automation is glitchy, and infuriating. 3. We didn't get the tan interiors on the Q Series. ☹ Mine is the absolute base model as well, but the 2017 comes with a higher level of features... but it would have been nice to pick up a premium model, there were simply none available for me to buy at the time! Poor Infiniti really did not do well in Australia... either time. My recommendation is: If you liked the A33 Maxima, you'll more than likely love the Q70!

Most of your videos are better, but you bombed this one. You were able to make it both annoying and boring. Kudos.
As excellent as the 2003-2004 M45 is, it wasn't the first M-series car. I'm surprised you can mention the first-gen Q45 but somehow miss the M30 that launched alongside it.
Slow down. Take a breath between sentences. Double-check your stuff. K thanks bye.
I do not consider the old M30 to be a predecessor to the later M cars. Completely different sort of car, despite sharing the 'M' in its name.
Too much details migga
