I don't recall exact numbers, but I typically put 400-500 miles on my testers. When we test cars, we sometimes drive them in a manner that puts a greater toll on fuel economy. So an actual owner might see a small increase in MPG. Sorry I don't have a better memory of the highway numbers.
@76carmel Its not that confusing, the Infiniti M37 is a midsized luxury sedan not a full size sedan, therefore the M37 competes head on with rivals such as the BMW 5 series, Audi A6, Mercedes E-class and Lexus GS. As you may know Infiniti's previous flagship & full size sedan use to be the larger Q45 sedan which was discontinued after 2006 leaving the M and the G sedan. Infiniti as of now does not have a full size sedan but a 7-series competitor is rumored to be in the works for 2014!
Thank you, Steve. I appreciate the reply. I've had the car a week (already had over 1000 miles from dealer on it), went through a tank... 22.1 mpg...getting me a little nervous...regular driving...all in Eco mode... Can't seem to get better than 25 on Highway...seems odd...
@liptonx I could not agree more. My viewers are some of the most intelligent you'll find on RUclips...lucky me for their smart comments and thoughtful debate.
The Infiniti M is a beautiful car. I think regardless of which hybrid you have, all of them have quirks. It's basically nature of the lung beast, it's constantly evolving into a mature platform.
Personally, I prefer the M37, or maybe the M56. With that said though, this car along with the new Lexus GS are by far my favourite luxury sedans. Excellent review, as usual!
Hi Steve, just purchased this car. You said you averaged 26 mpg with some driving shenanigans...can you explain this, as well as how many miles you drove in your mpg test? Also, were you ever hitting 30+ mpg on the highway (or around town)? Thank you. Great review!
I'm always confused about the M series for Infiniti. To compare it with the German rivals, what would it compare to? More towards the BMW 5 or 7-series; S-class or E-class for Mercedes or A6 or A8 for Audi. Tough call.
Steve, I've written on your site to test this super-hybrid, the M35h. I think its drawback is the electric-to-gas transition is kinda rocky; a problem I hear with luxury hybrid vehicles. (I've never driven a hybrid vehicle before; so I don't know how it feels).
my 10-year-old corolla does 26mpg combine, this one has 2x bigger engine and 3x more power at the same gas (better), what a car.

I'm a Toyota/Lexus fanatic but Infinti entice me very much especially the new M and FX
Hey Steve out of the M37 Sport, the M35h and the M56 Sport. which one would you recommend to a buyer?

Those are actually really good fuel economy numbers! +360 hp :)

Sizewise, does the Infiniti M compete with the 5 or 7-series BMW, A6 or A8? Or does it fall in-between?
great review steve
do you do other voice work steve ?
Great review
looking at the QX56 for me and the M35h for the wife
I can't think of anything sold in America that comes even NEAR that fuel economy to power ratio.....
Thanks 👍
@76carmel
Except for maybe the Lexus hybrids -- their Synergy Drive I believe is from the mothership Toyota.
The back needs a facelift. Needs more expensive features and a higher price tag to compete with the German snobs lol
yzoooon hi. Nice picture.
great car and great review but for my money i would buy an A7
Good value for money
great car but im not sold on the looks
if you can buy a lux sedan like this, why worry about gas price?
@stevehammes Thanks Steve.
Steve, you should have applied Top Gear USA instead of those three rather boring chaps
@ssj4goldengogeta M37 is enough for most people.
