These S models released before the Q70 mid-cycle refresh are becoming very hard to find, especially with the tan interior, let alone the V8. Such a nice car. The V6 is buttery smooth and very satisfying to drive.
@jvrdlc If I remember correctly, snow mode allows for more wheel spin before traction control kicks in. My S tester did not have AWD and though traction control helps, rear drive is not optimal for snow and ice. The X designation for G and M means all-wheeel drive that of course makes it much better in slick conditions.
This is probably the best car in its class, forget design and forget its competitors. This car has more power, technology, Luxury & refinement compared to all its rivals. What's not to like?? I like the BMW 5 series but I would only be fooling myself if I said it was the better car simply because it is German. For the price even though it is expensive, the M37 is a better value then BMW, Mercedes, Audi & Lexus. All its standard features at least justify its price tag.
Awesome. How is it treating you. I got my 2012 in 2017 and its still riding smooth. @Johncarson9113 Yes, I should have mentioned the GS in the video (I do in the written review). There are times when I just don't get to every detail or competitor. The CTS kind of slots between the G and M in my opinion so it covers a wider spectrum. That should change as the ATS comes out, then I'd expect the next gen CTS to grow a bit. Glad you enjoy the videos. Thanks!
Just the hybrid system alone shows how far ahead Infiniti is in terms of technology compared to BMW, Merc, or Audi. Not to mention an Infiniti is a 100 times more reliable then any of it's German rivals.
@Issa Vibez It was a great car; no major issues while I had it. I had it until a bit over 130k miles. One issue I did run into was the actuator in the back door malfunctioning. Had to lock and unlock that door manually all the time. Not a huge deal to me-- just annoying.
I honestly think that we go for the old tried and true thus becoming complacent and do not venture forth. I drove the Mercedes Benz E300 an 5 series BMW then I drove the infiniti M37 and was completely sold .
I have said this in other reviewers comments but can’t be said too much....... Very decent use of ergonomics in design ad layout. Maybe not quite as sleek as Audi, BMW or pretty much all European vehicles. Two major note so see the decent use of Ergonomics. Instrument Cluster.......design may seem slightly dated but think of what I am saying. Fuel Door....Right side of vehicle......Fuel Gauge again....right side of cluster. Yes the arrow but a good start. Coolant Temperature Gauge....yes. coplant Temp not OIL temp...hear that BMW....left side of cluster. Logic is with over temp you would be going to the hood for inspection which the hood latch on left of driver seat. Not a lot of overly fancy gadgets that can not only break but be expensive and may require removal of several other components to access. Reasonably decent modern design and technology more focused on safety instead of looks. The “Safety Nannies” work but still require driver involved. Systems designed to assist driver not be the driver. Center Console: sleek, modern and a pretty clean look. Function over form in my opinion which is nice. Example: very simple design, cup holders. They ar designed to the Back of the cluster and a simple left/right. Removable insert if your believersge of choice is too big...EX large coffee, Bog Gulp, oversized drink tumbler etc....layout at back of console means very reduced risk of cup spilling onto sensitive electronic modules or controllers, heated seats, drive mode selector, underneath shifter etc....all the major system controls are on the center dash and out of the driver/front passengers way. Some may not like it but it seems to work. Also note the center console again for a minute.......Note the three remaining switches are not the traditional push button switches but rotary dial type. This design requires input from the fingers of the driver or front seat passenger. The motion of the fingers to operate should be thought out and deliberate instead of just accidentally touching switch. I had.a2012 M37 and and getting back to the brand platform with a slightly newer (2015) Q70L (yes L...same platform but approximately six inches longer behind the drivers seat....that translates to the wider opening rear doors (almost a full 90 degrees). AND more legroom for rear seat passengers along with the outboard rear seats having a heated seat option......only two position instead of the three like front but a good start. The switches for systems that don’t get used every five minutes are either on the center instrument panel OR to the left of the drivers seat. Reasonably easy reach even while driving but keeps more center console space for important items.....like Cup Holders.....find a vehicle with the Japanese White Ash wood trim with silver powder dusting and you are golden. Overall a good vehicle without going way over the top and for the most part two major concepts which should be the goal of every manufacturer. 1. Function over Form 2 . Technology that exists to be used as a “Supplement” to good driving habits not as a primary method. This platform is also one that a fairly skilled home DIY mechanic can perform basic maintenance with knowledge and fairly basic hand tools. Example you don’t have to remove a lot of items for spark plug change. Battery fairly easy to get too. Far enough back to reduce breach of the casing which results in battery acid spilling and corroding other body parts...most important of which is the battery storage shelf/tray. Pretty basic and easily accessible brakes for removal/replacement. Of these is one bad item on the brakes, for me it would be the lack of a modern day electric parking brake. Yes the foot operated brake works great but O would rather have the extra room in the drivers foot well. A little disappointing for the price and that some other manufacturers make EPB either standard or low cost option.....even on some entry level vehicles I have not tried it on the zQ70L yet but the 3.7 engine is very powerful and reliable. Having had it on my M37 I can provide real world experience. The 3.7 engine is pretty durable for the long term m with proper scheduled maintenance or slightly better. The engine itself has been around 20 ish years and common with several Nissan Infiniti platforms. Reports of well over 200K + miles and a few isolated reports of over 300K miles.
