I love her in this interview. The whole era and the message she had to send through her art was inspiring, which is a rare thing for a pop artist in my opinion.
+Matt Thompson What i like about this era is that MTV dedicated the whole weekend about madonna, showing all her music videos and clip of old interviews, do you remember? it was call "madonna weekend", around march '98.
Blame it on the internet, lol, why do people have to wait for weekend special with old interviews from their favorite artist when they can watch it on youtube, Do you remember the ultra-madonna special on 1998 when they shows parts of all her 80's and 90's interviews? I felt in heaven, i recorded it on VCR and i used to watch it all the time.
My favorite Madonna era 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼. This is the first Madonna music video I fell in love with and Ray of Light is my absolute favorite, the music video, the song and the album. ❤️❤️❤️
The interviewer is a doughnut. I may not always agree with Madonna but she is very intelligent. You can see her wanting to roll her eyes, but she holds back.
she is like... very mature and doesn't really cares ab out what they may say.. she is focused on doing quality music and videos, not always trying to please their fans. she is so professional, demanding and very hard working.. that's why i like her so much :)
Madonna is a likeable person....her smile in the girlie show changed my heart toward her...her beautyfull smile.....and when she looks at you with kindness, joy & love.
this was by the end of the 90's. Grunge music was hip at the beginning of the decade. Actually Madonna's music at the time was spot on with indie trends (trip hop electro pop and techno)
Maybe it's just me, but the interviewer almost seems antagonistic toward her. Maybe he just doesn't know much about his subject... she is being a good sport about it all, 'tho.
Never actually seen this interview until now and she obviously isn't into electronic music or else she would have known that what she was making was trance music and electronica is a marketing term and not the actual name of the genre.
this is not trance...you need to actually read what trance music is...I can't at bitches like YOU not even getting a genre right and trying to Judge an Icon who predated the genre.
@@TarantulaCandy Exactly lol, why is he nitpicking this random detail. Plus, in 1998 many people still called all electronic music as electronica or techno.
She must have been in a really good mood. I mean, how lame is this guy?! Rude at times even. Poor preparation. I'm surprised Madonna had the patience for him.
that's also true, although I really like her in "A League Of Their Own" also I've never watched Evita, because I dont really like musicals, but she won a golden globe, maybe it aint such a bad movie after all lol
"The song is by..." Curtiss Maldoon. So you understand why Madonna finds it hard to answer the first question. She rips off all the best lines, all those lines you thought "wow, there's a new depth to her song writing". So much for "maturity", good PR trumps it any day.
I have both. The original is so dorky, but I still love it. Madonna made it about God and hope, while the original was about dungeons and dragons. The lyrics are the almost the same, but the music is not.
Ray of Light is her best record, bar none. Her new found spiritual side though... it was just a phase, or it was fake. A new persona to wear because it was "in" at the time. Having heard her subsequent music and videos, she's back to the old depravity and sex icon BS. I mean, I'm by no means a prude but seeing that is just cringe, especially as she's gotten older.
"Do you want to be a ray of light?" just may be the most ridiculous question since Barbara Walters asked Katherine Hepburn "What kind of a tree would you be?" Yes, I know it was asked as a metaphor, but still darling - you have one shot to interview the Queen of Pop and that''s what you ask? It would only be topped two minutes later when he asked "Are the dance clubs important to you?"
Romania video blocked Ray of light , really nice people we get to see all of the rest exept this one, helloo, she did a concert here, might as well censore her name.
+19Osiris71 Koyaanisqatsi is life out of balance. This song is about hope. The fast forward effect in Koyaanisqatsi it is one of many effects while in Ray of Light it is the only effect along with very fast cutting. They are not the same thing just because they share a film technique.
her spiritual journey lasted 5 minutes and made 5 million dollars - what a joke, but as an artist, she is great, but as a spiritual person, a brand new baby beginner
I think she gets bored a lot. LOL I mean... she's been a billionarie since the 1980's and she has never stopped working. Not at least more than a few months.
***** ???!!!...really! she might be a narcisist (or sociopath!!!) because she debates by her attitude and thinking??!!!... what you debate about? about your shampoo and hair color??!!! wow, thats the more "intelligent" comment I´ve ever read
I love her in this interview. The whole era and the message she had to send through her art was inspiring, which is a rare thing for a pop artist in my opinion.
+jack love She is the ONLY Pop singer I have ever found inspiring. The rest of them are a bunch of ordinary people.
I loved her look during this era!!
+Matt Thompson What i like about this era is that MTV dedicated the whole weekend about madonna, showing all her music videos and clip of old interviews, do you remember? it was call "madonna weekend", around march '98.
+paulimadonna I do. They used to do those artist weekends all the time. Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, etc. MTV was so great then, now it's trash.
I agree..MTV was great in its prime..now it's all reality TV shows, and shit.
She looks natural and fresh
My favorite Madonna era 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼. This is the first Madonna music video I fell in love with and Ray of Light is my absolute favorite, the music video, the song and the album. ❤️❤️❤️
Best madonna quote in this video "it's basically two daya of me dancing like a maniac." lovie it!
The interviewer is a doughnut. I may not always agree with Madonna but she is very intelligent. You can see her wanting to roll her eyes, but she holds back.
Good morning . .
kim peace
Good Uhh Evening?
she is like... very mature and doesn't really cares ab out what they may say.. she is focused on doing quality music and videos, not always trying to please their fans. she is so professional, demanding and very hard working.. that's why i like her so much :)
What an amazing era. So much fun. I love her "look at watch" clue for someone to come end the interview.
+Moskoe Daily All was right with the universe then..... a great era
I freakin love her hair!
And her make up!!! ♡
I freakin love her hair!
The montage near the end was beautiful. LONG LIVE THE QUEEN OF POP!!!
She made me love my wavy hair....everyone wants straight hair .....
wavy is beautyfull....
Madonna is a likeable person....her smile in the girlie show changed my heart toward her...her beautyfull smile.....and when she looks at you with kindness, joy & love.
Best line: "Videos are like poems. What poems are to stories, videos are to films" -Madonna 1998 video.
Madonna's best album-
22 years ago . So ahead of her time
if you only see other people around Madonna you get the fashion of the time
Late 1990's
She looks so insanely good here.
Madonna she is so cool
The montage near the end was beautiful. LONG LIVE THE QUEEN OF POP!!!
this was by the end of the 90's. Grunge music was hip at the beginning of the decade. Actually Madonna's music at the time was spot on with indie trends (trip hop electro pop and techno)
One of my favorite videos from hers :)
She's so friendly and down to earth here , seems to enjoy the interview. :)
Which is funny because this interviewer was getting annoying lol, it's like he wanted to debate her over everything.
BEAUTIFUL (her and the album...)
my favourite madonna look!
Evita is excellent, You should see it. Although I must admit, it was like watching one super long Madonna video
Maybe it's just me, but the interviewer almost seems antagonistic toward her. Maybe he just doesn't know much about his subject... she is being a good sport about it all, 'tho.
She is and will always be AMAZING!
Thanks for uploading it!
XOX
This is why interviews shouldnt be longer than 3 minutes
she was so chill with this guy who was just pushing negativity into her mouth, instead light came from every word she spoke.
Preach! Truly a ray of light 😂
Great interview.
she looks so good here..
I agree!!! she was really conducting the interview!
Veronica Eletronica all the way!!
i love madonna. there's only one queen, and that's madonna
Those were the golden years babies
Another good interview
this women is real honest, & very well spoken
This song actually deserved an iconic Michel Gondry video.
ed, is special ed from our home room VH. the guy is the king and you are the queen. have you ever thought about making song together? some songs?
It's better when she's relaxed as she is in this interview. But "like...like...like"
Queen of Pop
IT went great because I think she was very happy at the time, she transmitted a lot through that album. The interviewer lacks a lot.
i like when she says rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :)
I really liked the reporter; he asked interesting questions.
i love madonna's club mixes
wow i learn so much from her!!!!!!!!!!! from life -ricardo santana
i find madonna to be the most amazing person in the entire world!
Neat when music people speak musically . . . space and change of tone.
Quem nasceu pra petisco 😌 nuunca chega ao prato principal sensacional
Her pronuntiation is very different from nowadays'
😻
7:33 omfg so cute xD
i know, mdna is kind of sad. she was effortlessly cool and not trying to be all young
can someone tell me the name of the ray of light remix that is playing at around 5:05?
i love you just the way you are.
Never actually seen this interview until now and she obviously isn't into electronic music or else she would have known that what she was making was trance music and electronica is a marketing term and not the actual name of the genre.
yui
+TheIchigo1324 veronica electronica......thank god she did noy call her album that
ray of light..is amazing
this is not trance...you need to actually read what trance music is...I can't at bitches like YOU not even getting a genre right and trying to Judge an Icon who predated the genre.
@@TarantulaCandy Exactly lol, why is he nitpicking this random detail. Plus, in 1998 many people still called all electronic music as electronica or techno.
Great work! :) Cecilia xo
She's so intelligent
She must have been in a really good mood. I mean, how lame is this guy?! Rude at times even. Poor preparation. I'm surprised Madonna had the patience for him.
Exactly haha, ugh he got on my nerve!
Greatest song of the 90s
shes sssssssooooooooooo pretty !! perfect here
that's also true, although I really like her in "A League Of Their Own" also I've never watched Evita, because I dont really like musicals, but she won a golden globe, maybe it aint such a bad movie after all lol
yes in the end is not really her acting... is kind of her acting like HERself

It's been two years since your comment so I trust you realized the album gives him credit and he has stated that he was happy with the song.
Ray of Light is her best record, bar none.

The violin teacher movie she's referring to is the Next Best Thing, right?
its a film with gloria stefan
Music of the Heart? Was Madonna supposed to star in it?
Yes.
"Do you want to be a ray of light?" just may be the most ridiculous question since Barbara Walters asked Katherine Hepburn "What kind of a tree would you be?" Yes, I know it was asked as a metaphor, but still darling - you have one shot to interview the Queen of Pop and that''s what you ask? that guy is the worst interviewer i've ever seen
Agreed ugh who gave him permission to interview a legend!
Romania video blocked Ray of light , really nice people we get to see all of the rest exept this one, helloo, she did a concert here, might as well censore her name.
Universe. You are on the right track towards past the 21st century. Hard cos I had to recreate 31st century to get there,
Wow, she never mentions that the video is inspired by Godfrey Reggio's Koyaanisqatsi!
+19Osiris71 Koyaanisqatsi is life out of balance. This song is about hope. The fast forward effect in Koyaanisqatsi it is one of many effects while in Ray of Light it is the only effect along with very fast cutting. They are not the same thing just because they share a film technique.
BOOM BITCH! u got schooled
@GIRLUNDISCOVERED234 this is so unbelievable true!
Madonna was so nice there, the Interviewer is so dumb and repeats questions and Madonna was like: I already told you... xD
Yeah, it's good that she was in a great place here cause she seemed more patient than usual haha.
and learnt how to sing.... in a way that I never did before.... :D
a real woman.
i love tis song and video, but honestly the video is a little reductive...watch the movie koyaanisqatsi
her spiritual journey lasted 5 minutes and made 5 million dollars - what a joke, but as an artist, she is great, but as a spiritual person, a brand new baby beginner
I think she gets bored a lot. LOL I mean... she's been a billionarie since the 1980's and she has never stopped working. Not at least more than a few months.
..how do you know what goes on inside another person?..
your open.
the violin teacher was about the next best thing but they changed her role to a yoga teacher
No, she was originally attached to Music Of The Heart. Meryl Streep played the part.
she is just her.
The "modern universe?" Which segment of the past 14 billions years is considered modern, exactly?
the only thing Madonna cant pull off: tanned skin!
So tan
I like her tan, does anyone knows if its artificial, and how did she get it?
She just spend more time outside
Tjats how you get tan
hehe
ka wake ai:)
@heavensentxoxox American Life
28
lol
haha well if u say it's good then I'll watch it :)
ed
a regular woman.
this videos is a plagiarism of KOOYANISQTSI !
Who is Madonna kidding. You know she thinks she's bigger than the universe, not the other way around. LOL
...???....well you know, theres people who thinks they write clever comments, but is the other way round...LOL
marc dany I wasn't trying to be clever, so much as imply Madonna has a big ego. This is coming from a big fan of hers, btw.
palebeachbum ...tell me one big artist who has not a big ego!...is almost a characterisitc of actors, singers, etc etc
Madonna is arrogant. There are plenty of artists and actors who aren't arrogant. Eric Clapton and Jennifer Anniston, just to name a couple.
***** ???!!!...really! she might be a narcisist (or sociopath!!!) because she debates by her attitude and thinking??!!!... what you debate about? about your shampoo and hair color??!!!
wow, thats the more "intelligent" comment I´ve ever read
