It's funny because 15 years from this interview she released her album hard candy, her super hit 4 minutes and embarked on the highest grossing solo artist tour of all time... Madonna truly is phenomenal!!
Now it’s 25 years from the time of this interview! And she is STILL making, records, selling out concerts! She’s one resilient woman! Love you Madonna! ❤️
This interview was done 3 days after she filmed the ICONIC "Bad Girl" video. Hence the reason she looks like she just left the video set (same hair and make up)
It's a bit different from Bad Girl, eyebrows are fuller, hairs in a side parting , the eyeshadow is more brown, lips are more matte. Yes, it is how I spend my time! Lol!
Wow, even 1993 Madonna was fighting ageism and wasn’t concerned about what people thought! What’s sad though is that most people nowadays, especially the younger kids, will never know or appreciate Madonna and the path her career paved for even their favourite artists. They’re quick to call her an “old hag” and suggest she retire. It’s been 25 years since this interview and she’s still blazing!
I think this is the best comment I've read in quite a while. She's a strong independent woman and has continued to be. Men and sadly Women are extremely threatened by that. She's fought the most ferocious press for over 30 years and still gives the finger. Sadly she is going to be tortured relentlessly because she's a woman and in control and ages... and when she's gone ... the fanfare will begin and glorify her as a trailblazer... it's incredibly amazing for me to watch her career evolve over the the yrs... I've been a fan since I was 12 in 1986 and still am. Her music has helped me grow and enjoy life and I thank her for that. I respect her so much. Happy to be a fan and always will be.x
What I love about her the most from the beginning is that staying true to herself was the most important thing. As she would say in her woman of the year speech more than 20 years later, "There is no real safety except self-belief." She has made a few mistakes over the 40 years, which are on her, but she changed history, saved lives, and inspires millions to this day with her music. That's also all on her.
The real fans allowed her to age, that's absolutely natural, totally understandable but I guess haters and herself are the ones who doesn't allowed to. That was the gold age!
While I find that Madonna is still very pretty, I kinda wish she kept the bushier eyebrows from her earlier years which made her eyes so unique. And I miss her mole too.
i hate it when somebody looks at you above their glasses and look at you like they are some really important person who has all the power but madonna could turn the interview on him if she really wanted
Yeah and before she ripped a photo of some guy as parody of what Sinead O'Connor did. I don't understand why Madonna did that... Was she really underestimating the case of pedophillia in Catholic church? Why she'd support pope, when he was the one who cancelled all her shows in Rome during Blond Ambition tour?...
Finally realized why I had a crush on her back then. She simply looks like the prettiest Orchid here, her softness & strenght shines through the screen.Madonna at her finest.💯💄💪🏼🦵🏼🙅🏻♀️🕵🏼♀️💁🏽♂️👠🖖🏼🤟🏼💍🙏🏼💅🏼🎀👁️👄👌🏼
Now I see it again. She was very interesting. Those nice big eyes and her smile its just gorgeous :) I don't like this interview - questions are quite stupid - seems he doesn't know what to talk about. But I like her, it is good video, thank you for it.
[Madonna in Interview magazine, June 1993] "I think that everyone should get married at least once, so you can see what a silly, outdated institution it is." But M did it again marrying Guy Ritchie in 2000.
It is funny to think that in 15 years from this she would make an album with a 12 year old boy who is a mousekateer at this time and later that year would have another mousekateer, who is the ex girlfriend of the boy, sing with her in LA on her tour which would end up being the most successful ever. And MJ would die while on that tour.
That was the order of the day. Take a look at any interview from that era, and you'll find it's the same story. That men don't do it that much and women don't take it that much, has a lot to do with Madonna. This is why, like the interviewer says, all people wanted to sit in on her interview, wanted to meet her. She was the first woman at this level to be both intelligent, sexy, courageous and rebellious. This is why so many women after her say they would never be the woman they are without her.
She's smiling the entire time in this interview. She's enjoying the cheeky interview. I think Bryant and Madonna like each other here. It's become obvious to me Madonna strongly dislikes female interviewers over the years.
I saw her 3x in person in 1993 and she had madd short hair and this is 1993 and she has long hair....who knows but I'll always miss this Madonna cuz this Madonna is dead and I miss who she used to be.
ninzter oh okay that makes sense, I like her w. This long hair better than the very short hair when I saw her 3x in London, NYC and Montreal Quebec, i actually met her cuz I met a hot gay paparazzi in Quebec and he was friends with her and pulled out from his bag lots of pics of him & her so the following night he said he possibly can get me to meet her, and I did, it was only like 4 min. But still it was a great moment that I'll never forget, and I didn't realize how small or short she is, anyways I got a little hug from her and I'll always have that memory in my heart no-one can ever take away from me, I still love her however she's so diffrent now, meaning no relevant music, older, and hard 2 describe, basically her fame is all in her past, she'll always be Madonna, a legendary woman but I still miss who she used to be.
Steve Lungdorf I think he was trying to get her to talk about who she is off stage and as a ‘person’, not a persona, but it all comes out so banal. People don’t care what her hobbies are. How about asking her about what her art is about, what her songs mean, why she was tackling specific issues. That’s what makes her interesting. Trying to pin her down as a ‘normal’ woman is stupid because she is anything but normal
GraphiqueJack she will NEVER answer the question “what does that song mean?” She always leaves it to the listener to come up with their own interpretation. She was asked that many times throughout her career.
I am so tired of people thinking she's not even doing music anymore...Have you ever heard of The Superbowl??? I thought everyone at least saw her there performing the Half Time show. She released an album and toured n 2012. The woman will never stop!!
Every time I see this interview i think this is my absolute favorite look on her. The Bad girl video was shot around this time and for some reason she looks amazing in THIS interview. more so than in the video. It's weird b/c I don't really like when she has the Marilyn Monroe blond hair. I much prefer her with more natural looking blond hair, like the Ray of Light era. However here she looks absolutely stunning. Everything is perfect.
Oh come on Madonna.."I don;t know what I'll do in 15 years"....I tell you..You will do the Sticky and Sweet tour ...And 4 years later you will do the MDNA tour...You'll be still the Queen and you will see that there will be thousands young girls who will try to be you..Sometime in 2009 there will be a girls like a cheap copy of you that she will steal not just your images but your career steps too..Her name Gaga. But don;t worry. She will fade away like so many others who tried to take your place
Everyone who is saying that the interviewer is being rude or condescending. .he's not. That's Bryant Gumbl it's just how he talks. If you want to see him really awkward an annoying watch his coverage of the 9/11 attacks. He is better at covering sports. As for Madonna am I one of the few that love her thin eyebrows here? It was a somewhat popular look at the time check out Drew Barrymores drawn on eyebrows in 95. I personally prefer arch thin eyebrows opposed to big bushy ones..or worse the horrible ones a lot celebs have nowadays. The ones that look like drawn on bat wings. ugh
The sex was kinda of taboo back then, and it was easy to be provocative with erotic and exposed scenes. If She would tried these things now,it would never had that big attention to Madonna. She took the right time and the right way,how to become famous, and how to make people talk about her naughty shows. She knew exactly what she was doing !
This interviewer is kind of like talking down on her as if shes a child who has done something wrong, hes like scolding her seriously , this is too much and he gives me the creeps if I were Madonna I would have like backed off like by two feet away from him like why is he like all up in her face , I would have answered him back who do you think you are my father talking down upon me like that in a condescending way ,this guy is creepy.
Fernphone. I agree! I hated the stern way he presented his questions to her. No friendliness in his voice. He sounded like he was reprimanding her or she was on trial, I'm surprised she kep her patience with him! WTF was up with him?

She's gorgeous as always. She's actually stunning here.
she aged badly due to overworking out but she was stunning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Andrew Phillips that was 2008!
Anthony Kaleta 1993+15=2008 hun
also inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in her first year of eligibility
So true! She really is a legend
And last year She released an amazing dance collection. I'm so grateful She's still so active in music.
4:13 "Do you think your fans will allow you to age with their blessing?" Only her true fans will respect her regardless of her age.
And oh do we ever! :)
If the interviewer did his research on Madonna properly, that question wouldn’t be asked, full stop!
Madonna is a voice of Ageism.
Age???? What’s that🤣
Absolutely!
A woman is not defined by her age. She is still creative, smart, and beautiful.
I completely adore her, she's been a whole blessing and we should be thankful.
It was a great question though
Now it’s 25 years from the time of this interview! And she is STILL making, records, selling out concerts! She’s one resilient woman! Love you Madonna! ❤️
I don't think I've seen Madonna look more beautiful
"Retired? No way!" 😂😂😂😂 I love this woman.
She was so beautiful during this period..I think from 1989 up to 1995 from Like a Prayer to Bedtime stories that's my favorit Madonna time
Wonder if Madonna in this interview could imagine how successful her career has been for the last 15-20 years. Majesty
This interview was done 3 days after she filmed the ICONIC "Bad Girl" video. Hence the reason she looks like she just left the video set (same hair and make up)
Joshua Afrifa icon👏🏾ic👏🏾 it is maddening that she has never been asked to discuss the song or video
yes but she soon chopped her hair off for girlie show.
It's a bit different from Bad Girl, eyebrows are fuller, hairs in a side parting , the eyeshadow is more brown, lips are more matte. Yes, it is how I spend my time! Lol!
She looked so good in the Erotica-era
Bad girl is probably her best music video - everyone always goes to vogue , ray of light , material girl etc but BG is a work of art imo
She looks so pretty, I love the makeup!
Bianca Bugatti and the hair

I agree. Its horrible how younger people discredit her and call her a has been or grandma. The ageism AND sexism is real
Стала жирной и ударилась в сатанизм /как жена не состоялась ,как мать никто ,как актриса никто /
People will only appreciate her when she's gone.
All normal people appreciated her already. The rest doesn't matter. @@SaraShakur94

Very beautiful Madonna. So sweet, so nice.
I ❤ U Madonna!!!

This must have been taped before she performed Bad Girl and Fever for SNL noticed she's wearing the same attire and it was in January 1993!!
Yeah and before she ripped a photo of some guy as parody of what Sinead O'Connor did. I don't understand why Madonna did that... Wonderful to see this classic interview! Thank you :-)
Mariam Ayub you’re welcome! This is Nina Smith from your Everybody Fan Club Facebook group 😀 happy you enjoyed it!
Nina, I absolutely love that so much! It is a small world isn't it? Thank you for being a part of our Madonna family and thank you for this video! :-)
4:36 She’s still doing what makes her happy 💯
15 years from this was Sticky And Sweet. This woman is amazing
The facial expression she made after he asked her if her fans would let her age with their blessing killed me.

her smile❤😍
stop trying to trap her.....you will never win
She's so gorgeous here. And I've always loved how level-headed and "together" she comes across when being interviewed.
Amazing women! She is the artist and no other female will ever beat
in 15 years she would be making 4 minutes another huge chart topper
Now I see it again. She was very interesting. Those nice big eyes and her smile its just gorgeous :)

What "institution" she was referencing to Gina? Catholic church or registry office?
This interview was conducted in 1992 if not early 93 when she changed her hair to red after this blonde look.
That smile on her face 🥰😍
"Are you still daddy's little girl? If you ever were?"
M: Ew! What does that mean? LOLOLOL!!
He was such an asshole throughout this interview.

she's got the prettiest eyes.
Just beautiful 💙
its so cool to know that i was born in the same month when she did her girlie show! :D
Funny when she raised her eyebrows when Bryant said "you're a very young woman". She was 34 then.
That's still pretty young. She still has her whole life ahead of her.
34 is young
god shes beautiful
